Abstract

The shadowing method is a method of repetition by listening to audio recordings. The shadowing method is a new method for Japanese Language Education Learning Program UNNES. The method was applied in 2011 mainly on learning Choukai. For students shadowing is unfamiliar methods used in learning, so that need for student responses about the shadowing activities. The problem in this research is how the responses of students to shadowing activities in the course Choudokkai. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of students about shadowing. The study was conducted by using the quantitative descriptive method by respondents as many as 25 students. The data collection technique using a combination of an open and closed questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency percentage formula. Based on the analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that as many as 64,8 % of the students understand the shadowing and shadowing activities can help students to learn Japanese on course Choudokkai.

Abstract

This research is aiming to find out the types, how to convey, and paraphrase’s purposes or in Japanese is iikae. Paraphrase  in Japanese communication is the fundamental aspect for the Japanese language learners. However, in the communication, there are still many problems, for example, vocabulary knowledge limit and grammar knowledge. Although, there are still many problems, it could be overcome with paraphrase or iikae in Japanese. The data source of this research is TV Show Ameejipangu which is broadcasted on TBS channel or can be downloaded on YouTube. Data were collected by watch and note method on the sentences which consist of iikae or paraphrase from foreigner to Japanese. The results of this research are four types iikae or paraphrases. There are definitive paraphrase, suironteki iikae (parphrase based on conclusion), synonym paraphrase, and explicative paraphrase. Thence, how to convey iikae with gairaigo (foreign origin words), gesture, and periphrase. Finally, iikae’s purposes are to give a general image to listener, giving prominent, to make the sentence shorter, etc.

Abstract

The Capability to listen is an important ability in learning a foreign language. Choukai subjects is a subject which is given to improve listening skills Japanese. One effort to equip students Prodi Japanese Language Education in doing tests Choukai Nouryokushiken N4 is teaching Choukai Nouryokushiken types of test that exist in the textbook Nouryokushiken N4 no renshuu to students during the course Choukai Shochukyuu. However, the efforts made by teachers have not been implemented to the fullest because based on observations there are students who score Choukai Shochyukyuu good but a value Choukai Nouryokushiken unfavorable plus more, with an average value Choukai Nouryokushiken N4 of the lowest compared with bunpō, Moji Goi and dokkai. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether there is influence Shouchukyuu Choukai ability of students to the value of the test Nouryokushiken Choukai N4 and to describe the presence or absence of causal factors that influence the ability of students to value Choukai Shochukyuu Choukai on tests Nouryokushiken N4. The approach used in this research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study is the student of 2013 and 2014 Japanese Education Program UNNES follow Nouryokushiken N4 in 2014 and 2015. Data collection techniques in this study using documentation and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques in this study using the product moment, linear regression, coefficient of determination and descriptive percentage.Based on research result shows there is a relationship with a student's ability Choukai Shochukyuu Choukai Nouryokushiken value N4 class 2013 by 0,781, Class of 2014 of 0.77 and a combination of forces in 2013 and 2014 amounted to 0.752, while the influence of students' ability Choukai Shochukyuu Choukai grades on tests Nouryokushiken N4 force 2013 by 61% workforce in 2014 by 60% and the combination of forces in 2013 and 2014 by 56%. Based on the research questionnaire influential factors causing Shochukyuu Choukai ability to score on the test Nouryokushiken choukai N4 is very high at 98.76% is the influential factor in the constraints motivation. In orther side, Choukai ability Shochukyuu against Choukai on test results Nouryokushiken N4 which constraints are not the chance to repeat utterances native speaker, difficulties in interpreting speech, lack of adequate vocabulary and obstacles in recognizing the abbreviated sentence of native speaker pronunciation.

Abstract

Teaching media have to prepare ahead learning activity, since it is a teaching aid. Beside, the use of it has to be considered the materials which will be taught. In the introduction study, which interviews with the students and Japanese teachers were done, it had been found out that there were many students who had difficulties in understanding the materials. One of the reasons was that the teaching media used by the teachers was incompatible with the materials being taught; they often used Powerpoint as the media to deliver the materials. According to the explanation above, research problems in this study were (i) what media used in teaching Japanese activity in SMA Negeri 1 Padangan Grade XI (ii) is the use of the media compatible with the teaching materials. The goals of the study were to (i) describe media used in teaching Japanese activity in SMA Negeri 1 Padangan Grade XI (ii) describe the compatibility of the use of the media with the teaching materials. Quantitative and qualitative descriptive researches were used in this study. The variable of the study was the compatibility of teaching media with the Japanese language materials used by students in SMA Negeri 1 Padangan Grade XI. The data were collected through questionnaire, observation,  and documentation. Percentage descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the research data. The result showed that from 4 materials, chapter 2, chapter 3, chapter 4 and chapter 5, the teaching media used in delivering those first 3 chapters were compatible, while the teaching media used in the last chapter had not been compatible. Those teaching media used were picture cards, cassette/CD, PowerPoint and things around the students. Picture cards used in teaching chapter 2 かいてください(Kaite kudasai) was compatible with the materials.  Picture cards and PowerPoint uses in teaching chapter 3 わたしはBeno です(Watashi wa Beno desu) was compatible with the materials. Picture cards and PowerPoint uses in teaching chapter 4 でんわばんごう(Denwa bangou) was compatible with the materials. PowerPoint and real things around them used in teaching chapter 5 これはわたしのかさです(Kore wa watashi no kasa desu) were not compatible with the materials.
