Abstract

The study is aimed at analyzing the intrinsic elements in an old prose titled “Hikayat Cerita Taifah” (The Legend of Taifah). The objective of the study is to reveal the intrinsic elements of the story in such a way that the prose can be read, enjoyed and beneficial for the present society. Theoritically, the benefit of the study is to give inputs to the learning of old Malay Literature at schools and to provide learning material regarding elements of literature work, particularly in prose genre. The practical benefits expected is to build the strong character and to develop good personality of the young generation. Keywords : analysis, intrinsic elements, legend, the story of Taifah.

Abstract

Pantun is an Indonesian Malay literature consisting of four lines. The first and second rows are sampiran, third and fourth lines are the contents, as well as ab-ab rhyming. This research aims to describe the ability to write rhymes with quantum learning model of teaching in Class VII.C Junior High School 16 Jambi City School Year 2014/2015. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach method. The results of this research is to show based on the systematic aspects of writing, use of language, and clarity of the contents, obtained an average value of 84, so the conclution of the ability students to write rhymes are very good. Abstract

The research aims to develop writing report media video-based character. Development procedural approach oriented. Materials and exercises designed with constructivist approaches that are tailored to the needs and experiences of teachers. The Model Development is employing the model of Alessi and Trollip’s (2001). This model development emphasised three main pillars of development: Determining activity standards, project management, and ongoing evaluation. These three main pillars of model development then implemented in further three steps of planning, design, and development.The overall results, validating of Educational Technology Expert 94,62%, Matter Expert 85.00%, and Instructional Media Expert 99,04%. The they declared unfit for use media. The small group of try out results 78.38% and result of field trial try out is 82.79%. The they declared unfit for instructional media video for writing report based character can be used with either. Concluded, the results ofthe expert validation and field trials that instructional video media for writing report based character can be used. Instructional media video writing report character based can be used by teachers and students, both individually and in groups. Keywords : Media Video Learning, Report Writting, Model Development.

Abstract

The predicate of intrasitive complement verb in Jambi Malay language clause or sentence can be described as follows: (1) compulsory intrasitive complement verb like basic verb and affix verb be-/-kan + (1) rediplication verb by using pattern SPCom, SadcPCom, and AdcPcom. Constituen of posverb catagorize nominal (1), adjectiva (1), adverbia(1), and numeralia(I). And (2) arbitrary intransitve complement verb like elementary verb and affiz verb be-/an + nominal(I) by using pattern SPCom. Constituent of posverba have verba(I), adjectiva(I), numeralia(I), and adverbia(I) categories. Keywords : Intransitive complement verb, Jambi Malay Language.

Abstract

This article demonstrates research findings of concept intention-extension of scientific arguments, especially in Indonesian language usage of education science. The research focuses on quality of intention-extension in scientific arguments comprises in Indonesian educational dissertations. Data is collected purposively from 35 arguments which represent 8 fields of educational sciences. The research reveals that the intention and extension of concepts in term of knowledge developments are not significant in developing educational knowledge paradigm, which can be indicated by the following trends: (1) knowledge development is not based on concrete knowledge concepts (empirical facts) which can be constructed as premises to support conclusion and (2) lack of empirical proofs in arguments which cause in rising inferential fallacy, especially in relevancy fallacy.Keywords: scientific argument, concept intention-extention

Abstract

This article offers new method of learning in term of paragraph writing through analysis of idea comprehension. Related to this context, analysis of idea comprehension is ​​an activity to identify specific elements of something more general, namely an idea. In writing paragraph practice, main steps of the method are stimulating students by using comprehensive input, formulating and identifying main idea, identifying comprehension of the main idea, formulating supporting ideas, and organizing the ideas. Abstract

This research concern with the interference of Bugisnese language in learning of Indonesian language at SD Kabupaten Tanjungjabung Timur.  The data  is oral language which is spoken by the students who the mother language is Bugisnese. The result of the research shows that there are three types of the interference which are occurred in students conversation: phonological, morphological, and syintax interferences. The interference of Bugisnese is not occurred consciously, but it is occurred because there is effect from daily life so that the element of Bugisnese words or sentences is still carried in the communication at the school.Keywords: interference, Bugisnese, Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

This article is aimed to analyze written language errors made by Chinese students of private and public schools in Jambi. Data is administered by questionnaires and series of pictures taken from 200 students of senior high schools in Jambi province. The data is analyzed qualitatively. Research findings reveal that at morphological level, the most frequent errors are overgeneralization mistakes and limitation of principles comprehension of language usage.Keywords: error analysis, language usage

Abstract

This article is based on empirical study of feature writing in journalistics classroom of udergraduate school. Journalistics is an optional course in Indonesian Language and Literature Teaching at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in Universitas Jambi. The study reveals that at the first year, students ability in feature writing is weak. At the second year there is significant improvement in the writing skill. Related to the completeness of 5w1H, moral message, and writing style, it can be stated that the feature writing skill is classified as very good.

Abstract

This article gives critical analysis of two important aspect of oral communication, speech act and speech event. Speech act is an individual symptom which has psychological behavior determined by language competence of speaker in specific circumstances.
