Abstract

Background: The prevalence of underweight children in Demak Regency was 21%, the percentage was over the data from Central Java. Underweight will hamper the cognitive and motor development to children with a negative impact to the future. This study aims to determine the correlation between energy and protein intake, disease, parenting, attitude, knowledge, education, occupation and income with the underweight. Methods: The data used in this research is Basic Data Collecting (PDD) of Polytechnic of Health Ministry of Health Semarang. This study is an explanatory research with cross sectional design. The sampling was carried out at random (random sampling) to get 420 children as sample aged 0-59 months. Nutrition Factor (energy and protein) was gotten by Food Recall for 3 x 24 hours, Disease history factor, Parenting factors (parenting, attitudes, knowledge) and socioeconomic factors (education, occupation and income) were obtained using a questionnaire with interview methode. The Analytic analysis used chi – square test. Results: There was no correlation between intake of energy, protein intake, maternal parenting, maternal attitude, maternal knowledge, maternal education, maternal occupation, maternal income with underweight, and there is a significant correlation between children infectious disease history with underweight problem at p = 0.047 (p <0.05) OR = 1.6. Conclusion: There is significant correlation between the disease history and underweight. Need to do weight measurements regularly to observe the underweight problem to children in posyandu

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition where there is an increase in pressure. One of the main causes of hypertension is a lifestyle and a wrong diet. Preserved foods and kitchen salt and high amounts of flavoring can increase blood pressure because they contain excessive amounts of sodium.Objective: To determine the relationship between sodium intake and blood pressure in employees at SMA N 1 Batang.Method: This study was a clinical nutrition field study with a cross sectional approach. The sample was 50 people in SMA N 1 Batang which were determined by random sampling. Data collected in the form of general data samples obtained through the form of collecting data samples, data on sodium intake through a semi-quantitative food frequency form, and blood pressure through measurements using a spignomanometer. Test statistics are used to analyze the relationship between variables using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test.Results: The results showed that 58.0% of the samples had enough sodium intake and 64.0% of the samples had normal blood pressure. The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between sodium intake and systolic and diastolic blood pressure with a value of p <0.05.Conclusion: There is a correlation between sodium intake and blood pressure in employees in SMA 1 Batang.

Abstract

Background : the remaining vegetable dishes at the hospital are still high, this is evident from the results of interviews with Semarang City Hospital nutritionists, it is known that the average remaining vegetable is 35%.Objective : to determine the differences in the assessment of taste and leftover vegetable dishes based on the development of recipes in class III patients in Semarang City Hospital.Methods : including institutional nutrition research with the type of pre-experimental research using the one group pretest-posttest design with 36 samples. Samples were all class III patients in Semarang City General Hospital who received regular food. Data collected includes assessing the taste and leftovers of patients. The test used is Wilcoxon with a probability> 0.05.Results : A total of 97.2% of the samples expressed satisfaction over the size of portions, taste, presentation, color, and maturity of food development recipes; 94.4% of samples expressed satisfaction with the texture and aroma of food development recipes; 91.6% of the samples expressed satisfaction with the food seasoning for prescription development; 72% of the sample left little food on the plateau. There was no difference in taste of food before and after the development of the recipe, but there were differences in leftovers before and after the development of the recipe.Conclusion : the results of the recipe development have many leftovers rather than the initial recipe even though the results of the taste evaluation are equally satisfying. It is recommended to test the cuisine first before developing a recipe.

Abstract

Background of Study: Diabetes prevalence in Indonesia increases and occupies the forth position of theworld highest number of patients. There are increasing of number DM patient visiting nutrition clinic indr.R.Goeteng Tarunadibrata general Hospital Purbalingga, 36.36% in 2008 and 52.17% in 2009. Thediabetes mellitus patient with bad glucose rate in 2008 is 35% and increased up to 40% in 2009. Themethod of using in nutrition clinic of Purbalingga General Hospital is List of Substitutive Foodcomposition. There is a new instrument of nutrient counseling called Carbohydrate Counting.Objective: To find out the difference of knowledge and understanding level between the instrument ofcarbohydrate counting with the list of substitutive food composition of diabetes mellitus in the nutritionclinic of dr.R.Goeteng Tarunadibrata General Hospital Purbalingga.Method: This study design was quasi experimental with pre and post test design. The sample was takenby using purposive sampling in 2 months from November – December 2010.Result: The subject with carbohydrate counting instrument has medium knowledge 14.2% and highknowledge 85.8%, in other side on subject with the list of substitutive food composition instrument hashigh knowledge 100%. The subject with carbohydrate counting instrument hasn’t understand 57.1%and understand 42.9%, in other side on subject with the list of substitutive food composition instrumenthasn’t understand 42.9% and 57.1% understand.The statistic result of knowledge level p = 0.48 for pretestand p = 0.213 for post-test and the understanding level p = 0.615 for pre-test and p = 0.193 for posttest.Conclusion: There is no difference of knowledge and understanding level between the instruments ofcarbohydrate counting with the list of substitutive food composition of diabetes mellitus in the nutritionclinic of dr.R.Goeteng Tarunadibrata General Hospital Purbalingga.

Abstract

Background: The occurrence of diarrhea is still high enough, every child which suffer from diarrhea 2-8 time a year with a mortality rate of 5 per 1000 under five years old children. MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) is the food given to patients Diarrhea. MCT can increase calories, digestion, absorption and dietary therapy with disease indications with the problem of poor digestion / malabsorption.Objective: To know the effect of adding MCT supplement and acceptance of the changes weight of children under five years old with diarrhea in RSUP. Kariadi of SemarangMethod: The study was a quasi experimental design with non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design. Its population was all patients with diarrhea in children aged 6-59 months who were treated in child Ward of RSUP Kariadi Semarang. Sample were collected using accidental method between October 2012 - January 2013. Seven children as samples with the treatment of supplements MCT addition and seven children as a comparison with placebo. Data was obtained through questionnaires and interviews covering the sample characteristics, energy intake,and the acceptance of pudding , MCT supplement intake, and weight. Analysis which used is the Independent T-test, Mann Whitney and Pearson and Spearman correlaton test.Results: There was no difference in the treatment group and the comparison group against acceptance of the pudding the value of p = 0.586 and it was also the weight change since the value of p = 0.427. There was the influence of the pudding in the treatment group received the weight change value of p = 0.029, in the comparison group received power there was no influence of the pudding to changes in the weight p = 0.105.Conclusion: There was no significant effect of acceptance of the pudding in the comparison group of changes in the weight but there was significant effect on the treatment of weight change

Abstract

Background : Patient acceptance of food effect on the nutritional status of patients. The low patient acceptability of food this will adversely affect the nutritional status and patient outcome. Based on patient surveys conducted leftovers Nutritional Installation Sunan Kalijaga Hospitals Demakin 2012 on the standard menu there is an average of 26.6 % food waste.Objective :This study aims to determine the differences in acceptance of food, the rest of food and food intake in patients with selections menu and standards menu in Sunan Kalijaga Hospitals Demak.Method : This research includes comparative observational research is research that aims to see the difference between independent variables and the dependent veriabel related research. This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 15 groups and 15 groups of menu selections standard menuResults : The results showed the power received at the selections menu group has a very good majority of the categories, while the received power on the standard menu group has a majority in both categories. The rest of the food standard menu group average of 21.32%, while the remainder of the food selections menu group average values leftovers of 16.10%. Energy intake group average selections menu intake value of 2110.07, while the selections menu group protein intake mean intake value of 70.10. Energy intake standards menu group mean intake value of 1842.07, while protein intake standards menu group mean intake value of 63.77.Conclusion : There is no difference in the patient's acceptance of food on the selections menu and standards menu, there are differences in the rest of the food and energy and protein intake in patients with selections menu and standards menu.

Abstract

In food and nutrient national action plan 2001-2005, Laws no. 25 (2000) about national development program and Indonesia sehat 2010 that 80% of family become conscious nutrient defind kadarzi  is a family that have balance nutrient behavior, capable to recognize and solve the nutrient problem between each member. In 2008, kadarzi  area in jawa tengah is 35,26%, semarang area 65,77%. And then kadarzi in Tembalang sub district is 61,09%.The objective of this research is t find out relation between education, knowledge with conscious nutrient of independent family practice behavior to baby within 7-12 age month in Tandang Tembalang, Semarang.  This research include of explonative research which has a goal to explaining relation between education level and mother knowledge with kadarzi practice behavior. Research plan include of Crossectional research, conducted in Tandang Tembalang, Semarang. As mother population which have baby 7-12 agemonth as much as 164. Whereas, mount of sample is 128, took randomly with proportional random sampling.The Research result shown respondents which have high school level is 43%, knowledge level is 85,9% (Good), and while conscious nutrient family is 3,1%.The result of fisher exact statistic shown, there is no relation between mother education with kadarzi practice behavior p=0,126 and have no relation between mother knowledge with kadarzi practice behavior p=0,459. Suggested to policy maker for increasing promotion health so society in nutrient field, especially kadarzi indicator which has lowest achievement result is exclusive ASI feeding.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a serious public health problem andmajor risk factor for cardiovascular disease. High consumption of potassium decrease blood pressure. One of food which contains potassium is Musa paradisiaca var.sapientum.Objective: To find out the effect of Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum on systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertension patients.Method: This was an experimental study which used randomized pre test - post test control group design conducted in Wonosoco, Kudus, involving twenty patients hypertension with systolic blood pressure 140-159 mmHg and diastolic 90-99 mmHg. Subjects were divided into two groups. The first group was a treatment received 300 grams of Musa paradisiaca var.sapientum containing 1305 mg of potassium for 5 days. The second group was a control received standart treatment.Results: Systolic and diastolic blood pressure decrease of 25,50 mmHg and 17,00 mmHg in treatment group, and decrease of 11,00mmHg and 6,00 mmHg in control group. There were difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after treatment (p<0,05). There were significant difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure at post-test between two groups controlled by of potassium and sodium intake (p<0,05).Conclusion: Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum decreases of systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertension patients.

Abstract

Background : Hypertension or High Blood Pressure is the major health problem in developed countries. Basic Health Research results (RISKESDAS) in Central Java (2007) showed 31,7% of Indonesia’s population suffer hypertension. According to data was taken from Semarang Health Department in 2009, there was Tlogosari Kulon village  had the greatest prevalence of Hypertension ( 6,35%) .Objective : To describes perceptions of people with hypertension related adherence to dietMethod : This was a qualitative research. The research subjects namely informant I (hypertension) and II (the closest informant I). Selection of informants used  purposive sampling technique with a maximal sampling variation  type. The total number of informants were 12 people. The data was collected through in  depth interview and observation methods using non-structure questionnaire with open-ended question . Triangulation source was  used related to validite  data.Results : There are informants who thinks sodium is iodized salt and foods that taste salty / savory;  several informants using herbal therapies in the treatment of hypertension;  all informants stated that access to get food preservation quite easily within the scope of the area;  most of the informants had known about the definition, symptoms and effects of hypertension;  the majority of informants have a habit of eating foods high in sodium;  support officers is very helpful in providing information on all things related to hypertension and its management; family support is very helpful in controlling dietary compliance; health facilities are useful in implementing a diet because it is fast, easy and inexpensive.Conclusion : All informants perceptions about dietary compliance is in compliance with the advice of health personnel and to avoid restrictions in terms of both behavior and food consumption. Educate the public needed to be specifically about the sodium.

Abstract

Background: Knowledge of Diabetes Mellitus will be at least more quickly result in complications and this will be a burden to family and community. This lack of community that can impede preventive actions, because it is so related to the economic consequences such as treatment in hospitals and medical facilities or health needs. Counselling is a form of education.  Objective: To describe the implementation of nutrition counseling in patients with diabetes mellitus dr. R. Goeteng Tarunadibrata Purbalingga and describe attitudes towards patients with diabetes mellitus re-nutrition counseling.  Methods: This descriptive study. The number of samples were patients with diabetes mellitus in Poly Nutrition dr. R. Goeteng Tarunadibrata Purbalingga who meet the criteria of inklusi : patient of diabetes melitus with or without komplikasi, have consultancy mendapt of nutrition in poly nutrition, age woman and man 30 - 80 year, can communicate with goodness and do not illiteracy. While for the criterion of ekslusi: patient of diabetes melitus which do not living in sub-province of Purbalingga. The data obtained included sex, age, education, employment and attitudes of patients obtained by using questionnaires.  Results: Attitudes of patients in general have a good attitude toward repeated, this is because of consistency in the attitude not to the same extent in every individual and every object yourself attitude. inconsistent attitude that does not show correspondence between attitude and behavior statements, or easily change from time to time interpretation will be difficult and not much meaningful in understanding and predicting the behavior of the individuals concerned.  Conclusion: Consultation nutrition has an important role in helping to control this disease in order to improve the quality of life and prevent various
