Abstract

The using saw dust Lua, Kambang, Tarap wood and addition of boron solution on Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) and the fire  resistant gypsum boar. The purpose of using saw dust wood and down the process of fire gypsum board. Treatment research  that used of particle size (40 mesh and 60 mesh) saw dust wood, the percentage of sawdust and gypsum (300%, 400% and 500%), and the percentage of boron solution (1% and 2%). The results showed that the average value of Modulus of Rupture is between 16.68 to 31.11 kg/cm2; average Modulus of Elasticity is between 1129.80 to 3972.32 kg/cm2, and the average value of the fire resistant  is between 20.32 to 46.88%. Value of the largest / best for Modulus of Rupture (31.11 kg/cm2), Modulus of Elasticity (3972.32 kg/cm2), and the burned area (20.32%) resulted tha tratment of sawdust particle size Kambang 40 mesh, the percentage  wood sawdust and gypsum 500% and 2%  boron solution. The increasing particle size saw dust, and the amount of concentration gypsum, then the value Modulus of Rupture and ), Modulus of Elasticity the greater, and percentage the fire resistant small.Keywords: gypsum board, wood sawdust, boron solution, mechanical strength, fire resistant.

Abstract

Limbah tempurung sawit dapat dimanfaatkan untuk keperluan bahan bakar dalam bentuk briket arang. Tulisan ini mempelajari pembuatan briket arang dari limbah tempurung sawit dengan perlakuan waktu pengarangan dan konsentrasi perekat. Prosedur penelitian meliputi pengeringan limbah tempurung sawit secara alami. Pengarangan dalam suhu 600 OC. Waktu pengarangan yaitu 2 jam; 3 jam dan 4 jam. Arang dihancurkan dan disaring dengan kehalusan 7 mesh. Arang serbuk dicampur perekat kanji dengan konsentrasi 2,5% dan 5%. Dicetak dalam ukuran diameter 3 cm dan tinggi 7 cm. Dilakukan penekanan dengan tekanan 3 ton. Briket arang dikeringkan secara alami dan diuji kualitasnya dengan metode uji Badan Standardisasi Nasional (1994). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan terbaik diperoleh pada waktu pengarangan 2 jam dan konsentrasi perekat 5% dengan menghasilkan kadar air 3,69 %, kadar abu 5,62 %, kadar karbon 69,13 %, kadar zat terbang 21,57 %, kadar sulfur negatif, nilai kalor 6488,36 kal/g, kerapatan 0,962 g/cm3 dan kuat tekan 5 kg/cm2. Kadar air, kadar abu dan nilai kalor memenuhi persyaratan standar briket arang kayu untuk bahan bakar (SNI.01 – 6235 - 2000). Perlakuan interaksi waktu pengarangan dan konsentrasi perekat berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kadar air, kadar abu, kerapatan, kadar karbon, kadar zat terbang, dan nilai kalor.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the mechanical strength of gypsum board by utilizing waste sawn wood. Raw materials used consist of flour, gypsum,wood particles, boraks and kambang (Goniothalamus sp), wood tarap (Artocarpus elasticus REINW) and lua (Ficus glomerata ROXB). Wood particle 40 mesh and 60 mesh, concentrations boraks of 1 and 2 and the percentage particles of gypsum sawn timber is 300, 400 and 500%. The results showed that the average value Modulus of Rufture (MoR) in lua wood ranges from 12.55 – 14,47 kgcm2, wood kambang 25.10-31,11 kgcm2 and wood tarap 19.20- 24,18 kgcm2. As for Modulus of Elasticity (MoE) on the lua 1129,80- 2092,70 kgcm2, wood kambang 2512,37-3971,32 kgcm2 and tarap 2050,63-2691,09 kgcm2. Abstract

The problem faced by purun craftsmen is the reduced of purun raw material which commonly used such as purun danau and purun tikus. Hence it tends to utilized purun bajang which lesser known but potential used as a raw material purun craft. The research aims to obtain the information on the physical and mechanical properties of purun bajang compared with purun tikus and purun danau as substituted of purun tikus and purun danau.The research conclude that purun bajang’s performance is almost same as another commercial purun in terms colour and impression touch, but purun bajang relative slippery than purun tikus and purun danu. Purun bajang can be used as material substitution of commercialized purun tikus and purun danau, but it is noteworthy because of the tensile strength which it have very low tensile strength. Purun bajang can be used as woven material after drying process without any pulverization because it cause increasingly fragile tensile strength.Keywords:  purun, physical properties, mechanical properties

Abstract

Bambu  di Indonesia potensinya  sangat menjanjikan untuk dimanfaatkan dengan baik, bambu  merupakan tumbuhan mudah dikembangkan dan mempunyai daur hidup yang relatif cepat, dengan waktu panen hanya 3 – 4 tahun. Bambu merupakan tumbuhan yang  diharapkan dapat dijadikan sebagai  substitusi bahan baku  kayu  komersial,  karena   kayu  komersial semakin tahun  produksinya makin menurun dan harganya yang relatif mahal.  Sedangkan bambu memiliki keunggulan tersendiri dibanding kayu, karena bambu mudah dikembangkan dibanding kayu, ulet, elastisitas yang tinggi, mudah dibentuk dan harganya relatif murah dibanding kayu. Bambu dapat digunakan dengan teknologi sederhana hingga teknologi tinggi,  seperti di Eropah, Amerika dan banyak Negara lainnya. Maksud dan tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah  agar bambu di Indonesia dapat dikembangkan dalam bidang perkebunan, teknologi pengolahan, teknologi proses,  teknologi pengawetan dan lainnya, Secara maksimal dan berkualitas, guna meningkatkan nilai tambah  dan nilai ekonomis  bambu dengan baik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of herbal raw materials and consumer acceptability to  the instan tea. Celery and  aloe vera leaf have an ability to lower blood pressure. The combination of these two herbs are expected to have a synergistic effect in  this instant tea. The formulation tea showed the appropriate with the  requirements and no difference in taste, color and odor in statistic of the three formulations.Keywords:  formulation, celery, aloe vera

Abstract

There’s so many pal solid waste or palm empty fruit bunches, but the utilization is not maximized, this research its to optimized utilization of palm solid waste to be wood vinegar and want to know the composition physical properties and chemical properties of wood vinegar from palm empty fruit bunches. Total yield of wood vinegar from palm empty fruit bunches its 15,94 % and total yield of charcoal its 64,58 %. GCMS result showing chemical properties from wood vinegar of burning < 100oC its obtained 19 compound and burning >100 oC its obtained 6 compound. The result physichal properties testing from crued wood vinegar its obtained specific gravity 1,0005 and 1,0010, pH value are 3,233 and 3,186, TAT content are 9,36 % and 11,12 %, phenol content its 0,44 %. The result physical properties testing from wood vinegar which has decolorizatin by activated carbon its obtained specific gravity are 0,9987 and 0,999, pH value are 3,036 and 3,012, TAT content are 8,29 % and 9,27 % and phenol content its 0,01 %.Keywords: palm bunches, wood vinegar, liquid smoke

Abstract

Ultra violet filler telah ditambahkan pada kayu lapis indah yang venir indahnya direndam selama 15, 30 dan 45 menit dengan konsentrasi 0,1% dan 0,2% ultra violet filler. Tujuannya agar dapat memancarkan sinar warna ungu pada interior ruang tempat pertunjukan. Venir yang direndam selama 30 menit dalam  konsentrasi 0,2% ultra violet filler menghasilkan pancaran warna ungu dengan nilai 3,125 ppm pada kayu lapis indah. Hasil analisa kadar air dan delaminasinya memenuhi syarat standar IHPA.

Abstract

Perbaikan sifat fisik dan mekanik kayu kelas kuat rendah dapat dilakukan dengan cara perendaman, perebusan, pembungkusan dan tanpa pembungkusan kertas alumunium foil pada saat pengempaan panas dengan tekanan kempa sebesar 7,5 kg/cm2 dan 15 kg/cm2. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap tiga jenis kayu kelas kuat rendah yaitu kayu Kembang (Goniothalamus, sp.), kayu Lua Coklat (Ficus glomerata ROXB) dan kayu Tarap (Artocarpus, sp), parameter uji meliputi berat jenis, pengurangan tebal, kuat lentur, kuat tekan tegak lurus serat dan kekerasan kayu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pembungkusan dan tanpa pembungkusan kertas alumunium foil dan tekanan kempa 7,5 kg/cm2 dan 15 kg/cm2 dapat meningkatkan sifat fisik dan mekanik kayu. Perlakuan tanpa pembungkusan alumunium foil dengan tekanan kempa 15 kg/cm2 memberikan hasil paling baik dibanding perlakuan lainnya. Tiga jenis kayu yang diteliti termasuk kelas kuat V, kayu Kembang meningkat masuk kelas kuat III, kayu Lua Coklat meningkat masuk kelas kuat IV, sedang kayu Tarap belum menunjukkan peningkatan kelas kuat.

Abstract

Bamban (Donax canniformis) is one of the biological resources that grow in the swampy areas and has been used by the community as a raw material in the form of woven handicrafts. Bamban bark that used as raw material woven texture is hard and the surface was very slippery so hard to make. This study was conducted to determine the nature of the characteristics of stem Bamban and determine the effectiveness of the stabilizers PEG 1000 and tannin from extract acacia bark in improving the quality of physical and mechanical properties strands of Bamban. Treatments include immersion with PEG 1000 and acacia bark tannins for 2 hours. Results of the study the effectiveness of treatments of soaking the material stabilizers PEG 1000 and tannins from extract acacia bark all of them can improve the physical and mechanical properties of raw material of Bamban woven handicraft and make it easier for artisans in the process of weaving due to the treated material can make more limp strands of Bamban and not to stiff, in addition to making the product brighter and more attractive.Keywords : bamban, physical properties , mechanical  properties
