Abstract

One of the chapters (naw’u’) which was discussed interestingly in al-Itqān fī ‘Ulūmal-Qur’ān by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūthiy (d. 911 H) was the 65th chapter, namely fī al-‘Ulūm al-Mustanbathah min al-Qur’an (the sciences that was based on the al-Quran). Among those who agree, they will show some evidence for the al-Suyūthiy thesis. While that does not agree, confirming the position of the al-Quran that is limited by time and space. This paper describes a number of data of al-Suyūthiy writting about his views on this matter. Hopefully, after understanding the arguments of al-Suyūthiy, every readers can determine their positions on that view.Keywords: Sciences resting on al-Qur’an, al-Suyūthiy, the position of the readers

Abstract

This article is a reading of the idea of Jonathan Brown, a scholar of Western-Muslim who paid attention to the study of hadith, as stated in one of his writings, “How We Know Early Hadith Critics Did Matan Criticism and Why It’s So Hard to Find “. In his writings, Brown discovered samples of explicit criticisms made by critics matan hadith early. After analyzing the samples, he later concluded that the critics hadith early criticism matan has applied to test the authenticity and validity of hadith Prophet. According to him, the criticism sanad and matan criticism applied along and in line. However, because of certain reasons-one of which is the tension between traditionalists and rationalists that time, the application of the early criticism matan framed and wrapped in the language of criticism sanad. This reading was intended to reveal the findings of Brown’s early criticism of honor, and then analyze it to know its contributions in the development of critical studies hadith, especially matan criticism.Keywords: Hadith, sanad criticism, matan criticism, Jonathan Brown

Abstract

Arabic has an important role in understanding the Qur’an and interpret. Arabic is the language of the Qur’an. There is a correlation between the Arabic interpretation of the Qur’an. This article will discuss a few things. First, hermeneutics as a science to explain and understand the meaning contained in the Qur’an. Second, the role of the Arabic language for understanding the Qur’an and interpret. Abstract

This article is the result of research conducted with the aim to find out the views of the community, as well as the impact on the rite procession of nyadran tradition in the village Sumogawe Getasan Semarang. The method used is a qualitative research approach phenomenologis. The subjects were the villagers Sumogawe Getasan Semarang. The results of this study addressed that (1) people’s views make sense of nyadran tradition an expression of socio-religious reflection. For example religious visit to the graves of ancestors as aform of preservation of cultural heritage and the traditions of the ancestors. (2) The process of implementation nyadran rites in the village Sumogawe was three days before before the implementation of nyadran the citizens Sumogawe Getasan held nyekar and traditions manganan (invitation). (3) The impact of nyadran can be perceived by the public as a form Sumogawea remuneration on ancestral sacrifices both material and non-material, to be successful. Nyadran preservation of tradition is a form of preservation of cultural heritage adhiluhung ancestors going back, there is some wisdom in the procession tradition nyadran highly relevant to the present context. Abstract

The development philosophy seems to ignore the dakwah. Similarly, dakwah does not need philosophy. Therefore, compared with other fields of philosophy, philosophy of preaching is not so interesting discussion. This article attempts to dig more development and philosophy of dakwah. This article also shows the urgency of philosophy preaching to the effectiveness of dakwah in society. Therefore, the call is not simply convey religious advice, but also involved in resolving social problems.Keywords: Dakwah, philosophy, development

Abstract

This article tries to show the values of monotheism in the process of Islamisation of the local culture through local culture, like a puppet. Puppetis a product of culture that existed long before Islam arrived in Indonesia,especially Java. Sunan Kalijaga made the puppet as a means and media propagation of Islam through art and culture. The material and appearance of the puppet assimilated with the doctrine of Islam through languages more Islamic and instilling monotheism. By reviewing the literature, this paperdescribes the puppet discourse developed in the perspective of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic education. That the puppet that has become the cultural heritage of this archipelago since the early period of Islamisation has offered material and doctrines of Islam through javanes languages with relevant and easily understood by the surrounding community.Keywords: Wayang, Islamic tradition, Sunan Kalijaga

Abstract

After the reformation, Indonesia became a battlefield of ideologies movement. Starting from the ideological movement that emerged after a long torporor the new ideological movement imported from abroad. This condition is as the result of that the reformers forgot the master plan of the country’sarrangements when fighting to undermine the new order. The impacts are that the ideologies fighting for the dominance in structuring the Indonesian government. Yet on the other hand Indonesia has an ideology called Pancasila. How to put the Pancasila in such a struggle of ideologies movements? There are at least four options, namely Pancasila is put in limited social contract position, Pancasila as a common platform, Pancasila as the nation’s vision, and Pancasila as the ideological state. And it seems that putting Pancasila as the ideological stateis the most appropriate choice, although it must be followed by a range of pre-conditions that must be met.Keywords: Pancasila, The ideology of the movement, Liberalism, Socialism, Islamism

Abstract

Ibn Rusyd is seen figure renewal and generating Aristotle philosophy that has long been buried or torpor. Among his famous works is about criticism of al-Ghazali thought about keqadiman nature, knowledge of God and theresurrection of man. Ibn Rusyd argued about the views of the philosophersof the latter. Abstract

This essay discusses Talal Asad’s critics upon definition of religion which has been formulated by Clifford Geertz. As an essentialist-anthropologist, Geertz defined religion as a system of symbols which acts to establish powerful, pervasive, and long-lasting moods and motivations in men. Based on Talal Asad’s reasoning, however, religion could not be defined simply as an analogy of words. When it is limited to a series of words there will be gaps of religious elements that are wrapped up, or the definition will load elements that arenot religion in-essence. For Talal Asad, words is imposibly far from socio-political factors. The former affects and changes the latter throughout the timeas does religion. Abstract

This paper discusses the thought Goldziher about the authenticity of the Hadith. In this discussion will be seen how the great interest in themselves Goldziher on the study of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad withvarious accusations and criticism which was unheard of in the ranks of scholars of Hadith for centuries, except of extremist groups who has long beenknown as anti tradition.
