Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the improvement of multiple-representation skill of tenth grader students at Senior High School on Newton’s Law about motion by using STEM approach. The population of this study is all students of class X in senior high school in Lampung Province. The sample of this study was taken by purposive sampling that is as much as two classes which amounted to 62 students. The design used in this research is the non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Experimental class used STEM Approach and control class used scientific approach (observing, questioning, experimenting, associating, and communicating). Multiple-representation skills data retrieval using a description test with a total of ten questions. Enhancement analysis using calculation of Normalized Gain (N-Gain). Based on the result of this research, it was known that control class had N-gain average score in the amount of 0,55, while the experiment class had N-gain average score in the amount of 0,63. Based on T Test result analysis showed that there was difference of N-gain average score of students’ multiple-representation skill between experimental class and control class. Students who learned with the STEM approach have significantly better of multiple-representation skill than those who learned with the scientific approach

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are fundamental skills in 21st century learning. Based on preliminary research in 25 junior high schools in Bandar Lampung, physics teaching and learning has not been maximized in empowering students’ critical thinking skills. This research aims to determine the effect of the implementation of Argument Driven Inquiry learning model to the critical thinking skills of students based on academic ability. This research uses Quasi Experiment method with Pretest Posttest Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The data collected through critical thinking instrument test before and after learning with Argument-Driven Inquiry model. The data were analyzed using Independent Sample T-Test to determine difference after learning through Argument Driven Inquiry model. The results showed that (1) there is effect of implementation Argument Driven Inquiry learning model to critical thinking skill of high academic student shown by sig value. 0,021 (2) there is effect of implementation Argument Driven Inquiry learning model to critical thinking skill of low academic student shown by sig value. at 0.003 at 95% confidence level. We conclude that the implementation of Argument Driven Inquiry model effective to improve the critical thinking skill of students with high and low academic ability

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the conceptual knowledge of the students using cooperative learning model of group investigation type toward conceptual knowledge on the subject matter of temperature and heat in class XI semester I SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Medan T.P. 2017/2018. The research type is quasi experiment with pretest-postes design. The population of the study were all students of class XI SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Medan. The research sample consisted of 2 classes determined by cluster random sampling technique. Class XI TKJ - 1 as experimental class by applying cooperative learning model type investigation and class XI TKJ - 2 as control class by applying conventional learning model. The instrument used in this study is the test of cognitive learning outcomes in the form of multiple choice which is accompanied by observation of student activity. Based on the results of pretest data processing using different test, the value of both classes at the significant level α = 0.05 concluded there is no significant difference from the value of pretes of both classes, meaning that the two classes have the same initial ability. Furthermore the two classes are treated differently, after the learning is completed in both classes is done postes. Based on the results of hypothesis testing with a significant level of 0.05 concluded that there is a difference in conceptual knowledge due to the influence of cooperative learning model type group investigation of conceptual knowledge on the subject matter of temperature and heat in class XI semester I SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Medan

Abstract

This study aims to develop worksheets of student with the approach guided inquiry with physics the Interactivesimulation in learning.Who discussed subjects of material the momentum and impulses, because this material is still abstract according to high school students and still related to daily life.To overcome the problems so created learning innovation in Interactive form of media that can be pulled like let learn physics students in response.The object of this research is Interactive media based phet simulation designed in accordance with competency standard in 2013 curriculum.Research methods that were used is the method research and development, it would follow the one with the process of addie model was (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). In this research, only reached the stage of development.

Abstract

research aims knowing implementation Training Inquiry learning model to improve science process skills on the subject of the motion straight at SMA Negeri 1 Namorambe. This research was quasi experiment. The population empirically are all first semester students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Namorambe. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling technique, which is a class X MIA-2 as the experimental class learning model treated Inquiry Training, and Class X MIA-3 as a control group treated with conventional learning model with each class numbered 36 students. The research instrument is a test description as much as 9 question, and the activity of science process skills. Data were analyzed using normality test, homogeneity, and median equality test (test two parties and one party t-test) and test N-gain. The average value pretest experimental classes and control classes 30.50 and 30.05 respectively. The average value obtained postes both classes respectively 76.3 and 68.4. Both classes have a variation in normal distribution and homogeneous. Results observation science process skills activities experimental class students increased by an average of 5.5% every KPS. The test results test two parties obtained t = 0.233 and t table = 1.997 (t t table), so there is a significant effect of the learning model Inquiry Training to improve science process skills on the subject of the motion straight at SMA Negeri 1 Namorambe.

Abstract

An effort to improve the learning outcomes of physics in the learning process in junior high school is by applying the training pattern of education, including providing motivation to students. Repeating lessons (Remedial Teaching). Measuring student learning outcomes between what is taught by educating patterns and ordinary pattern patterns. This research hypothesis the writer formulates the application of training patterns to educate physics smart children to improve physics learning achievement. The population in this study were all students in grade 1 of SMP Negeri 1 Langsa academic year 2017/2018. numbering 162 people. Samples were taken in 2 random sampling classes from the entire population, a sample of 82 people. Data collection techniques used the "Experiment" method, where class I3 was the experimental class and class I1 was the control class. The results of data processing can be concluded that by using educating patterns, students will be smart in physics lessons at SMP Negeri 1 Langsa in the academic year 2017/2018

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning inquiry training model to the students' science process skills (KPS). Quasi experimental research was conducted using pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this research is X-1 class as experiment class and X-2 class as control class chosen by probability sampling. The instrument used is the KPS obtained by written test and observation. Data in this research is analyzed by using t test. The results showed that there was influence of inquiry training model and conventional learning model to the students' science process skill where the students taught with inquiry training got better than conventional.

Abstract

The objective of study to determine the effect of Guided Inquiry learning models to student learning outcomes and student’s activity in dynamic electrical topic. This type of research is quasi-experimental design of the Pretest-Posttest Design Control Group. The research was conducted at SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 3 Medan in A.Y 2017/2018. The population of research was all students of class X. Sampling is done by random sampling by taking two classes randomly, namely class X-A as the control class and class X-B as the experiment class. The instrument used in the study was a test of learning outcomes and an observation sheet of student learning activities. Learning outcomes test in the form of a test essay with a number of 15 questions and before using the question validated by the validator. The study was conducted by giving measurements in the form of a pretest and then given treatment with a guided inquiry learning model and within a certain period of time and then given a posttest. The results of data analysis using the t test of one party shows that there are differences due to the influence of the guided inquiry learning model on student learning outcomes in Dynamic Electrical material. Abstract

This study aims to determine: students' critical thinking skills and student cognitive outcome learning with discovery learning model and conventional learning. Quasi experimental research was conducted using pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this research is the experimental class treated with the discovery learning model and the control class apply the conventional learning chosen by simple random sampling. The instrument used is an essay test based on the indicator of critical thinking ability and outcome learning test based on bloom revision. Data in this research is analyzed by using t test. The results show that: The students' critical thinking ability which is taught by discovery learning is better than students who are taught by conventional learning and students cognitive outcome learning which is taught by discovery learning better than students who are taught by conventional learning

Abstract

Optical phenomena are found in the surrounding environment, both in biotic and abiotic components. Conceptual understanding of optics is needed to explain the occurrence of optical phenomena and be able to apply in technology. This research has been carried out to develop an optics conceptual assessment instrument. The instrument was developed based on the design of Standards for Psychological and Educational Testing. The material included in the instrument developed are reflection, refraction, interference and diffraction. Evaluation of instrument is done through expert validation, validity testing, and reliability testing. The evaluation results show that the instrument is suitable to be used to measure the conceptual understanding of optical topics. The instruments developed are expected to support physics learning
