Abstract

There had been some changes of poverty preventation strategy for the government of the New Order. In the development process, the change of the strategy from economy growth method to the implementation of “Presidential Decree of Underdeveloped Territorial Program (IDT) “actually emphasized on the increased attention to the poor. It was proved that the combination of various programs could decrease the poverty rate both quantitatively and significantly. However, because the pattern of the top-down and the feature of the charity remained to dominate on the overall strategy, the poor could not have develop significantly independent. Thus, poverty preventation strategy in the future must emphasize on the development of the poor’s creativity, initiative, and capability based on the mobilization of the local resources, so it can make the poor develop and grow independently. In such a way, ontinual development will reasonably run. A change of strategy needs the reshuffle of political structure to democracy.

Abstract

One of the efforts to preserve the sources of vegetarian, soil, and water is to rehabilitate the land and soil conservation. The aim of this rehabilitation is increasing and maintaining the produtivity of the land, so it can be preserved and used optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to a  develop a variety of good soil conservation, such as vegetative method and civil engineering. To find an appropriate technology, so it is necessary to develop some alternatives of soil conservation technique that are mainly implemented at dry land with its slope of more than 15% in the upstream area of discharge. One of the most suitable soil conservation technique today is Alley Cropping. Based on the research (trial and error) in some areas, Alley Cropping could really provide a positive result in terms of erotion controlling and running off and maintain the land productivity. In addition, the technique is more easly operated and spends a cheaper cost than making a bench terrace.

Abstract

In planning a spatial order in a territory , it is necessary to take acount of three aspects of natural resources, human resources, and living environment. Based on the reality, so it is necessary  to think of two sides: potential human resources and environment and human resources. One of the resources that is absolutely needed by creatures is water. Concerning the spatial order, the water is greatly needed in a variety of life. As the other resources, the reserve of the water also get limited. Because of its limitation, it is necessary to control the potential water sources in a territory before determining a design of good spatial order. It means that in planning the spatial order must be based on the rule and regulation of preserving its resource.

Abstract

Land order in an urban area that is not based on complete and reasonable spatial information an cause an unintegrated development program. Therefore, spatial information that can analyze the information to make a decision of land order is greatly needed. To present the most reasonable physical data of the urban can use the data of remote sensing as a main source, because the data an present not only a high temporal resolution, but also a complete object. Along with the advance of computer-based GIS, the data of remote sensing can be integrated with GIS. In addition, the data sharing can be used in various sectors. Thus, both updating and mutual exchanging of data can be done easly.

Abstract

This research was intended to know the cause of a drawdown of artesian groundwater surface and analyze on exploiting its groundwater in Surakarta. The total amount of groundwater exploitation in Surakarta will be 69,206.4 m3  if it is compared the groundwater runoff capacity of unconfined aquifer as with 8,860.9 m3 a day and confined aquifer as 42,447.3 m3 a day. Thus, the total amount of groundwater runoff in Surakarta is 51,308.2 m3 a day. Groundwater exploitation has exceeded the capacity of groundwater runoff as 17,898.2 m3, so the reservoir of groundwater is going to reduce continually. Groundwater exploitation in the loation of the researh has caused a piezometric drawdown. In 1990, its piezometric was negative, it means that the position of the piezometric was under the surface of land, while in 1990  artesian well indicated that its piezometric was almost nearly positive. Thus, the piezometric drawdown average 9.4 m3. In the center of the ity, it happened the cone of depression at piezometric contour in 1990, so a piezometric drawdown that resulted from groundwater exploitation exceeding the runoff of groundwater was proved. As a result of groundwater exploitation excessively, it resulted in the inequilibrium of groundwater. This depession has been extending continually as a result of adding wells, so it result in a groundwater drawdown permanently, as happened in the location of the research.

Abstract

Geography is a science that studies mutual relationship between nature and the activity of human being through the spatial approach, ecological approach, and regional approach. The spatial approach means studying a variety of location and phenomena in the earth. Boyolali regency has got a variety of physical condition, therefore it causes differently natural resources. It is necessary to implement the approach of spatial order that is intended to design the land suitable for the resources in the area. In the western area, Mounts Merapi and Merbabu are located with their slopes of more than 40% and it is a conservation area. This area is a ground water recharge area. In the lower area, it is a productive area including forest, agriculture, industry, and settlement.

Abstract

This research is carried out in Janti, Polanharjo, Klaten, Central Java. Most of the female population of this area work as employees in manual industry of towel. The existence of the manual industry of towel enables the female labor force living in the area to have an opportunity to be employees at the industry, as indicated in the population structure that most of the population work as employees of the industry. The aim of this reasearch is to know the characteristic of the population in acordance with age, education, working hours, and experiences. Another aim is to know wage or income, expense of income, employees rights, and the other factors. The method used in this research is survey method with the number of a given sample, where as the data analysis used frequency and cross table. The result of the research indicates that most of the respondents are 20 – 25 years of age. The educational level of the respondents at the average of 40 hours a week, they have worked effectively for 7 – 9 years. The reason is in part they want to meet their daily needs and the other part they consider their jobs are easy to do and accept. The average of their incomes ranges from Rp 20.000 – Rp 50.000 a week. The factors influencing the different of income depend on the seniority and the amount of orking hours. Most of their incomes are spent on primary needs. Their right includes getting a meal once a day and working social insurance, but they don’t get health insurance.
