Abstract

The emerge of Social Business offers a new kind of capitalism in some developing countries. This manifestation of capitalism concept has introduced by Muhammad Yunus as a respond to vicious cycle poverty in Bangladesh. Grameen Bank has been creating a solid relation between capitalism and poverty. By using the people center development perspective and sustainable development concept, this article tries to elaborate the friendly of capitalism pattern to the poor and its development agenda. Abstract

In war or other armed conflicts, generally women are categorized as vulnerable people. Sexual violence and harassment towards women is frequently use as a technique to committed torture against them. The torture are meant to create terror or as one of the methods of ethnic cleansing. Considering that women could be categorized as combatant in certain situation and seeing the development in internal armed conflict that allowed women to participate in hostile situation as combatant, this paper would like to give an overview towards women position in war and armed conflicts related to international humanitarian law.

Abstract

The idea of building shariah economic investment institution was pioneered by Muhammadiyah when involved in the International Contact Group (ICG) to strengthening civil capacity of the muslim mindanao community through the transformation of social, economy, and education, as the initation of Baitul Mal Wa Tamwil establishment, as the embryo of economic shariah investment institution. This article will build a new idea which in the community who experiencing conflict still need shariah economic investment institution. Institute of shariah economic will guide the choice toward politic and military confrontation to more moderate and measureable in the community, which is in the end will contributes positively in creating peace.

Abstract

Diversity of Indonesian culture must be maintained by preserving and protecting from the claim of another country. This paper is aim to explain how the existence of traditional culture is very important. In fact, it has big role in shaping the national identity. The writer using national identity concept to analyze this phenomena. Indonesia is doing diplomacy by proposing Saman Gayo Dance as intangible cultural heritage original from Indonesia to UNESCO. This is done in order to preserve Saman dance from extinction and functioned as affirmation of the national identity of Indonesia.

Abstract

Violence and abuse against Indonesian unskilled labourers and migrant workers has become prolific and is a serious breach of human rights. This research will provide a basis to understanding physical violence and abuse against Indonesian migrant workers overseas from a policy and government perspective. This issue will be analyzed with four different perspectives including; non-government organizations working in the field, governments and legislation which are obliged to protect migrant workers against abuse, agents who send Indonesian migrant workers overseas and victims who have returned following employment overseas. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods will be applied through the compilation and analysis of statistics by government and non-government organizations, assessing trends, demographics and social factors that increase the risk of exploitation and also providing an overview of relevant legislation. Victims, witnesses, agents and other concerned parties will give testimony to provide primary data and greater insight into the issue. Understanding the causes and trends behind these phenomena will provide a sturdy foundation on which to build long term policy solutions and cooperation among nations.

Abstract

Human Security notion is emphasizing on human as the central of security studies, challenging the position of state as the core of security. Some studies are tried to separate the state security and human security, however there are strong connection between these two notions. State has important role in establishing and maintaining the security of its own citizens. Through social contract and social security protection, state are oblige to set the security of its own people as their security goal.

Abstract

This article describes the notion of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) as a branch of humanitarian intervention. This approach emerges to immediately respond atrocities of innocent people due to political persecution taking place in a state. R2P allows external power in the form of the military operation to prevent casualties of citizen. The opponents of R2P argue that it contradicts with the non-intervention principle based on state-sovereignty. However, the proponents of this approach believe that human security and rights should be beyond of state. It is assumed that R2P remains relevant to completely stop either state violation over its citizen or armed conflict within civil war. The discussion of this paper therefore compress the notion of Humanitarian Intervention and the grounds of Humanitarian Intervention, which concerns mainly on the debate the Responsibility to Protect of what is nature of this approach, of who are authorized actors in charge as well as of how it should be implemented.

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the historical descriptive-interpretative effect general election implementation and socio-economic and cultural conditions of democracy and democratic process in Malaysia during the government period of Tunku Abdul Rahman to Mahathir Mohamad. The research based on the secondary data study-method. Based on the research, the general election implementation and socio-economic and cultural condition do not significant effect on democracy and the democratic process in Malaysia, except in the middle of Tun Abdul Razak’s government which the socio-economic conditions have a significant effect on democracy in Malaysia.

Abstract

After signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Helsinki at August 15, 2005 between Government of Indonesia (GoI) and Free Aceh Movement / Gerakan Aceh Meredeka (GAM), are facilitated by Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) lead by Finland former president Martti Ahtisaari. As post conflict area, Aceh entering three phases of peacebuilding processes called Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR). Those the reintegration is the most challenging phase due to complexity and long term process. Regarding the importantly of reintegration process, unfortunately MoU did not put the gender base sensitivity as the part of decision making on peace agreement. Here is the reintegration program policies began with gender injustice against female ex-combatant who did not mentioned as a beneficiaries of reintegration program benefits. Those reality of gender injustice reintegration program had been initiated the establishment of Acehnese Women League/Liga Inong Aceh (LINA) on June 11, 2006 by Shadia Marhaban and some Acehnese women activists.

Abstract

United States of America as the main actor—in many cases—of world politics constellation has done a number of double standard politics for preserving its certain national interest. For a century, Middle East has been one of the most focussed object for United States foreign policies. This research is aimed to explain United States diplomatic dilemma and double standard politics toward Egypt civil-military conflict and Morsi coup in 2013, which tries to answer why United States used double standard politics on Egypt case. United States never calls Egypt case as a coup and still continuing its foreign aid to Egypt’s new governement (military government). Researcher has formulated an answered-hypothesis which reveals the facts that United States double standard is caused by United States diplomatic dilemma. These diplomatic dilemmas also influenced by United States pragmatism on its Arab Spring foreign policy.
