Abstract

Abstract. This study aims at examining the influence of “ACTION” training on improvement of kindergarten teachers’ skills of literacy stimulation. “ACTION” training is a training provided for teachers as scaffolder by using activities of sociodrama to improve literacy stimulation skills. The design employed in this study is untreated group control design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The subjects of the research are 18 kindergarten teachers (9 teachers in experimental group and 9 teachers in control group). The research instruments used are “ACTION” training module, observation guide for literacy stimulation skills, knowledge test of literacy stimulation, and knowledge test sociodrama activity. The statistical test uses Mann-Whitney U Test. The results of the study show that stimulation literacy skills are significantly higher in experimental group than in control group (U = 0,000; p < 0,05). This study concludes that “ACTION” training can improve kindergarten teachers’ skills of literacy stimulation. Keywords: kindergarten teacher; literacy stimulation; sociodramatic play

Abstract

Abstract. This study aimed to test the effect of training module “Kepedulian terhadap sahabat” in improving prosocial behavior of peer bystanders in middle school. This research used quasi experiment method with the untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples which separated subjects into two groups, experimental group and control group (N: 48). The subjects were bullying bystanders grade 7-8 middle school students. Instrument used in this research were knowledge test as manipulation check, prosocial scale, and a module of “Kepedulian terhadap Sahabat”. T-test was used to analyze the difference between experimental group and control group. The result shows of that “Kepedulian terhadap Sahabat” has an effect bystanders’s prosocial behavior (z=-3.799, p=0.01) on middle schoolstudents. Keywords: bullying bystanders; prosocial behavior; social-emotional learning

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of anchoring on the performance appraisal score in aspect adaptive performance. The hypothesis in this study was to examine whether there are differences in adaptive performance score. High anchoring group has a higher adaptive performance score compared with low anchoring group. The method that used on this study was quasi experiment with posttest-only design with two treatment groups. Participants involved in this research were 117  with age range from 22 to 49 years old that classified into high anchoring group (n = 70) and low anchoring group (n = 47). Questionnaire to examine the knowledge of the task was used to conduct a manipulation check of anchoring. Independent-Samples T Test explained no significant effect of anchoring on adaptive performance score (t = -0,100; p > 0,05). Keyword: adaptive performance; anchoring; performance; performance appraisal

Abstract

Abstract. This research aimed to study the effect of reminiscence and art therapy in ‘Lansia Sabar’ Program for the enhancement of self-compassion in Elderly in the Nursing Home. This research used single case design method. The measurement of self-compassion was done by using self-compassion daily checklist that based on components of self-compassion by Neff. Data was analyzed by visual inspection using the graphic that will show the participants’ changes between the phases. The changes that will be analyzed are change of mean, stability level, and trend. Analysis will be supported by interview and observation data as well. The result of analysis shown 2 out of 3 participants had and an increasing mean of self-compassion in intervention phase. The other participant had a little decreasing mean of self-compassion in intervention phase. Overall, although there was a different result in one of the participants, the trend shown the positive response during the intervention phase.  Keywords: “lansia sabar” program; self-compassion; elderly

Abstract

Abstract. Future orientation of junior high school students is orientation in educational field. Students are faced with choices of the next level of their study, which is either to senior high school, Islamic senior high school (MA), or vocational high school with choices of interests/specializations. Students are expected to choose the continuation of their study according to their abilites, interest, and aptitude. However, the students find it hard to determine their future orientation. This present study aims at examining whether “Goal setting” training can improve future orientation of junior high school students. The subjects in this study are 45 students aged 13-14 years (21 students into the experimental group and 24 students to a control group) junior high school students who earn medium score in the scale of future orientation and goal setting. The experimental design employed in this study is untreated group control design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The data analysis that is used is Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that the "Goal setting" training can improve the future orientation of junior high school students. Keywords: future orientation; goal setting training; junior high school

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of emotional intelligence and organizational climate in predicting the counterproductive work behavior. This study used a quantitative approach survey. The method of data collection in this research was conducted by distributing scale to the research subjects, with a total of 146 civil servants. The data was analyzed using double regression techniques using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) 20.0. The result shows that the emotional intelligence and organizational climate can contribute together to decrease counterproductive behavior that occurs in the workplace (F (2, 143) = 5.266, p<.05, R2 = .069). Limitations and suggestions for further research were also discussed in this study.

Abstract

Children with disabilities have three-time greater risk of child sexual abuse (CSA). Unfortunately, many teachers lack of skills to teach deaf students on sexual abuse and self-protection. This study examined the validity of a module (GuLaLi, Guru Latih Lindungi/ Teachers Train and Protect) to enhance the teachers' skills to train deaf students on CSA prevention. Prior to the study, the researcher developed the module following Behavior Skills Training (BST) procedure. Seven teachers from one of kindergarten and primary schools for the deaf in Bantul Regency participated in the study. The study used one-group pre and posttest design. The data was quantitatively analyzed analysis was conducted through statistical test using Wilcoxon signed rank test and also descriptive analysis. The result showed this module can improve teacher skills to teach student how to prevent CSA (Z = -2.366, p<0.05).

Abstract

Diagnosis cancer in children can be extremely stressful for caregiver. Caregiver are “hidden patients” who have suffered from physical and psychological problems. However, only few program address the needs caregivers of children with cancer. This research aims to enhance psychological well-being (PWB) using mindfulness based intervention for caregiver. Participants of this study are 6 caregivers of children with cancer in Yayasan Kanker Anak Yogyakarta. The research design is one group pretest-postest design. PWB scale used to measure caregiver’s well-being, given before treatment as pre-test and after treatments as post test. The descriptive statistic using wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test showed improvements in psychological well being’s caregiver but were not statistically significant (Z= -1.051, p= 0.293 (p>0.05). However, caregivers had improved in self acceptance after mindfulness program (Z= -2.207, p= 0.016 (p< 0.05).

Abstract

Purpose of this research is to validated the module Client Facilitating Training to increase social worker knowledge about stress  and skill for facilitating client. Training included psychoeducation about stress and management stress, basic of client facilitating method and communication skill in facilitating process. Subjects of this research are 12 social worker and divided to experiment and control group. This research using quasi experiment with non control group design with pretest and post test sample. Data collected by management stres questionnaire, facilitating scale and field data collected by observer and supervisor. Results indicated that there is a significant differences between experiment and control groups in stress and management stress (Z=-3,017; p<0,05) with large effect size of 0,87 and Facilitatting skill (Z= -1,354; p<0,05) with large effect size of 0,84. Client Facilitating Training is valid to improve social worker knowledge stress  and management stress  and facilitating skill.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reduce parents’ stress by increasing their mindfulness ability using Mindfulness intervention. Participants in this study consisted of 15 mothers with stress from mild to severe. The design use in this study is quasi experimental design with untreated control group with pretest and postest. The program consists of 8 session intervention. The instruments used in this research are DASS Scale and KIMS scale. Quantitaive analysis was conducted through  statistical test using Mann-Whitney and also qualitative analysist. The result of this study showed that intervention with mindfulness was effective to reduce stress in parents (U=0,000; p<0,001).
