Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is conducted as a preliminary study that aims to determine the achievement and improvement of advanced mathematical thinking skills of students. In college, mathematics is generally more difficult and complex than ever. This is because the material given is more abstract. Therefore, mathematics and mathematics education students are expected to construct mathematical definitions/concepts independently, to prove logically, and to further develop their mathematical abilities. In fact, the learning process in the classroom does not improve the ability of mathematical thinking and even tends not to awaken the habits of the mind of the student, hence to overcome the problem, this research is studied a learning approach, the metacognitive skill approach. This research is an experimental research with research instrument that used is test of advanced mathematical thinking ability of student and student habits of mind scale. This research was conducted on final year students who contracted real analysis courses at STKIP Siliwangi Bandung. Based on the results of the research, it is known that the achievement and improvement of advanced mathematical thinking skills of students who gain learning with metacognitive skills approach is better than those who get regular learning. In general, students who gain learning with a metacognitive skills approach habits of mind better on ordinary learning..Keywords: Advanced Mathematical Thinking, Habits of Mind, Metacognitive Skill Approach.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: (1)Ada tidaknya perbedaan antara prestasi belajar siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran open-ended dan prestasi belajar siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran discovery learning, (2)Prestasi belajar matematika siswa manakah yang paling efektif antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran open-ended dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning pada siswa yang memiliki kreativitas rendah, (3)Prestasi belajar matematika siswa manakah yang paling efektif antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran open-ended dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning pada siswa yang memiliki kreativitas tinggi. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 303 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket kreativitas belajar matematika dan tes prestasi belajar matematika. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji t dua pihak, uji t satu pihak. Hasil penelitian:(1) terdapat perbedaan prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran open-ended dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning, (2)prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran open-ended lebih efektif daripada siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning ditinjau dari kreativitas rendah, (3)prestasi belajar matematika siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran open-ended lebih efektif atau sama dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning ditinjau dari kreativitas tinggi.

Abstract

Abstract This research based on the result of preliminary observation at MTs Nurul Huda Beringin. Documentation of supervision by headmaster who has been held in the school, data showed that the learning mathematics with scientific approach applied by teachers are still not optimal. Based on documenttion of learning outcome students the data that there are 40% of students not reached the minimum competence criteria. Humans have nine types of intelegence, seven of the nine types of intelegence are: verbal/linguistic intelegence, visual/spatial, logical/mathematical, musical, bodily/kinesthetic, interpersonal and intrapersonal. This research is a classroom action research with qualitative descriptive approach implemented in class VII MTs Nurul Hudda Beringin, Cirebon, on the material relations and function. Based on the analysis we concluded that the study of mathematics involving multiple intelegences with scientific approach by the steps: 1) preliminary activities; 2) the core activities consist of observasing, ask, gather information, associates and communicate; and 3) the cover. While multiple intelegences involved in learning is verbal/linguistic intelegence, visual/spatial intelegence, logical/mathematical intelegence, musical intelegence, the intelegence of the body/kinesthetic, interpersonal and intrapersonal intelegence. In the first cycle, the average result of observation activities of students and teachers was 70% and 76%  in the unfavorable and fairly category. In the second cycle, the average results of observation activities of students and teacher was 82% and 83%, both  in good categories. In the first cycle, the achievment of students VIII-A is a total of 18 students or 46% students take the final value more than 75. In the second cycle, the achievment of student VIII-A is of the total of 31 students or 80% students obtain the final score more than 75. So the achievment learning was increasing 34% from the first cycle to the second cycle.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas VIII MTs Hasanuddin dalam menyelesaikan soal model PISA pada konten perubahan dan hubungan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ditentukan melalui purposive sampling dan didasarkan dari tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa, yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Subjek yang diambil untuk penelitian ini berjumlah 3 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes pemecahan masalah dan wawancara. Teknik keabsahan data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah metode triangulasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, menyajikan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Berdasarkan analisis diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa 1) siswa dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah tinggi lebih dapat memahami soal yang diberikan dan menjawab semua pertanyaan dengan baik dan benar, 2) siswa dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah sedang menjawab dengan benar hanya saja ia kurang teliti ketika tidak memberikan kesimpulan dan dalam beberapa soal ia tidak mem berikan informasi-informasi yang ada pada soal, 3) siswa yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan rendah cendrung ingin menjawab pertanyaan dengan cepat sehingga tidak menuliskan informasi yang ada pada soal dan tidak teliti ketika mengerjakan soal sehingga menyebabkan kesalahan ketika menjawab soal

Abstract

One of the basic competencies that must be mastered class XI-IPA is "Resolving issues related to the inverse function". Basic competence is also one of the indicators in the national exam, so students of class XI-IPA should really master. However, based on the experience of researchers for teaching mathematics, indicates that any repetition of inverse functions are still many students who score below KKM. From the discussion in MGMPs indicated that student difficulties in determining the inverse function due to step determines inverse functions too abstract. Therefore do classroom action research in an effort to improve student learning outcomes in class XI-IPA-7 (Acceleration) SMAN 2 Brass Odd semesters of the school year 2014 to 2015 on the basis of competence finding the inverse of a function by applying a Scientific Approach (Scientific Approach) with Undo Procedure. Application of Scientific Approach (Scientific Approach) with the Undo procedure is proven to improve student learning outcomes in class XI-IPA-7 (Acceleration) 2 SMAN 2 Brass half of the school year 2015 to 2016 on the basis of competence finding the inverse of a function. This is supported by: (1) the results of the competency test is very high. The average results of the competency test in cycle 1 was 88.44 increase in cycle 2 to 97.50. (2) the group's work was optimal. The average results of the group work in cycle 1 was 96.67 increase in cycle 2 to 100 (3) the results of students' activity quite well. Activity of students in cycle 1 was 83.95 increase in cycle 2 to 96.30. Based on the conclusion, delivered the following suggestions: (1) The Scientific Approach (Scientific Approach) with the Undo procedure can increase the activity of learning and student learning outcomes in basic competency finding the inverse of a function. And (2) To other researchers suggested that trying to conduct action research class that implements the Application of Scientific Approach (Scientific Approach) for the other subjects.Keywords: Scientific Approach, Procedures Undo, Inverse function.
