Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui fraksi serat dan protein kasar jerami jagung yang diinokulasi fungi Trichoderma sp. dan RAC. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. P1: Jerami jagung + 5% Trichoderma sp. + 1% RAC ; P2: Jerami jagung + 5% Trichoderma sp. + 2% RAC ; P3: Jerami jagung + 5% Trichoderma sp. + 3% RAC ; P4: Jerami jagung + 5% Trichoderma sp. + 4% RAC ; P5: Jerami jagung + 5% Trichoderma sp. + 5% RAC. Sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa jerami jagung yang diinokulasi fungi Trichoderma sp. dan RAC berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap NDF, ADF dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05) terhadap kandungan protein kasar. Disimpulkan bahwa level pemberian RAC 3% pada jerami jagung yang diinokulasi fungi Trichoderma sp. dapat menurunkan NDF, ADF dan ada kecenderungan meningkatkan kandungan protein kasar.

Abstract

Research was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of antibacterial agents on both fungal count and on quality of silkworm cocoon.  Two strain of silkworm (Bombyx mori) i.e. Perhutani and China strain were used in this study.  The silkworms were feed on artificial diet containing either salt, calcium propionate, or potassium sorbate with level 2 gram/100 gram feed dry matter.  The result indicated that use of different agent as antimicrobial significantly inhibited the growth of fungal.  Salt was the best inhibitory agent compared to calcium propionate and potassium sorbat when adding to the diet,  While  silkworm Perhutani performed better than China strain when feed on such diet.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the extent of tannin reduction in macadamia seed through urea treatmen. The research using a complete randomized design (CRD) with factorial pattern 3 x 3 consisting of three levels of urea (2, 3 and 4 percents of 800 grams of macadamia seed) and three long hatching treatment (7, 14 and 21 days) and three replication. The result of research based on analysis of variance by SPSS showed that the level of urea and long hatching treatment and the interaction both factors did not influence on tannin content in macadamia seed.  However, when the tannin content which were not treated (4,4433 percents) compare with got treatment (0,4088) showed a highly significant difference.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to make effective use of herbs, both powder and liquid, that contains the same bioactive substances to improve the performance of broilers. The research conducted in March through May 2012 at the Laboratory of Omnivore, Faculty of Animal Sciense, Hasanuddin University. The material used 100 birds DOC (unsexed), molasses, EM4, water, 12 herbs, 7 herbs, and basic feed. The design used completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications (each unit consisting of five experimental chickens). The treatment consists of the use of herbs A1 (a combination of 12 liquid herbs ingredients), A2 (a combination of 7 liquid herbs ingredients), A3 (a combination of 12 herbs powder ingredients), and A4 (a combination of 7 herbs powder ingredients). Parameters measured broiler performance including weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion. The results of analysis of variance showed that the average body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the provision of a combination of herbal ingredients in powder and liquid form, but uses 7 ingredients of herbal powders tend to do better in improving feed conversion in broilers. The conclusion of this research is the provision of combination of herbs amount liquid and powder form had no effect on weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion of broilers. 7 herbs ingredients have the best effect in terms of efficient to use.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik degradasi bahan kering beberapa bahan pakan di Makassar. Data bahan kering yang hilang pada masa inkubasi tersebut kemudian dimasukkan dalam persamaan Y = a +b (l – e(-ct)) (rskov dan McDonald, 1979; Ismartoyo, 2011). Data karakteristik degradasi tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan RAL untuk mengetahui perbedaan karakteristik degradasi antara pakan yang satu dengan yang lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kehilangan bahan kering semua perlakuan meningkat seiring dengan lama inkubasi sedangkan kecepatan degradasinya cenderung semakin menurun. Kecernaan bahan kering pada inkubasi 24 jam paling rendah pada kulit buah coklat (29,27%) dan jonga-jonga (34,25%), nyata lebih tinggi (P<0,01) pada biji markisa (39,45%), biji kapuk (40,10%) dan kulit buah markisa (40,9%). Nilai fraksi a terendah pada biji kapuk (6,74%), dan paling tinggi biji markisa (19,61%). Nilai fraksi b terendah pada kulit buah coklat (45,43%) dan paling tinggi biji kapuk (81,57%). Nilai fraksi c terendah pada biji markisa (0,0128%/jam) dan paling tinggi biji kapuk (0,0229%/jam). Nilai fraksi a+b terendah pada kulit buah coklat (62,23%) dan paling tinggi biji markisa (90,09%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecernaan bahan kering lebih baik pada biji kapuk, biji markisa dan kulit buah markisa dari pada kulit buah coklat dan jonga-jonga. Sedangkan nilai karakteristik degradasi yang dihasilkan dari berbagai jenis pakan cukup bervariasi.

Abstract

The aims of  research is to assess and evaluate the application of a combination double step-down ( DSD ) diet and citric acid ( CA ) in improving the efficiency of broiler business . Research arranged in a completely randomized design ( CRD ) . A total of 168 broilers strains MB 202, 7 days old with average body weight of 186.23 ± 0.68 g were divided into 7 treatments and 4 replication     ( @ 6 broiler ). Treatments were : T0 ( control diet without a step-down and the CA) , T1 ( DSD diet without the CA ) , T2 ( DSD diet + 0.8 % CA of lime) , T3 ( DSD diet + 0.4 % CA synthetic ) , T4 ( DSD diet + 0.8 % of CA synthetic ) , T5 ( DSD diet + 1.2 % of CA synthetic ) and T6 ( DSD diet + 1.6 % of CA synthetic ) . The parameters measured in the present research were carcass weight , feed costs and income over feed cost ( IOFC ). ). The data were subjected to analysis of variance by F test followed Duncan test ( P < 0.05 ) and orthogonal polynomials ( PO ) to determine the optimal level of the CA. The results showed that the carcass weight did not differ ( P > 0.05 ) due to treatment . The treatment combination of DSD and the CA synthetic diet from 0.4% to 1.2 % ( T3 - T5 ) significantly ( P < 0.05 ) reduced diet costs and increase IOFC compared to control ( T0 ) . Based on the calculation of PO , the CA determined the optimal level of 0.96 % . Research conclusion that the application of a combination of double step-down diet and 0.8-1.2 % citric acid can be used as an alternative to increased efficiency in broiler production .

Abstract

The aim of  research is to produce low fat and cholesterol in broiler meat with given lime juice (APJN) and citric acid (AS) as acidifier in step down protein feeding system, without interfering function of digestive tract of broiler. The material used were 192 birds DOC (day old chick) Hubbard strain MB 202 "unsex" . Research using CRD (completely randomized design) with 6 treatments and 4 replications, and there are 24 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 8 chick broiler. Treatments were P0 (control diet (without step down)), P1 (step down diet), P2 (step down + citric acid 0.8%), P3 (step down + lime acid 0.4 % (6.9 ml/100g feed)) P4, (step down + lime  acid 0.8% (13.8 ml/100g feed)) and P5 (step down + lime acid 1.2% ( 20.7 ml/100g feed)). Parameters measured in this research were fat and cholesterol in broiler meats. The data were subjected to analysis by software SPSS 16, to determine the effect of treatment. If the treatment was significant it continued to Duncan test . The results showed that  step down protein feeding system  with given lime juice as acidifier were significant effect (P <0.05) to decrease cholesterol meat (mg/g) with an average (0.99, 0.89, 1.11, 1.02, 1.03 and 0.81), but no effect (P> 0.05) to decrease fat meat (%) with a mean (5.53, 6.30, 6.13, 6.15, 7.38 and 4.8) .

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of organic fertilizer and age defoliation of some nutrients silage elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum). This experiment used elephant grass, compost, and organic liquid fertilizer. The experiment was conducted according to completely randomized design pattern 3 x 3 factorial with 3 replications, the first factor is fertilization: A1 (without fertilizer), A2 (fertilizing with compost) and A3 (fertilizing with a liquid fertilizer), while the second factor is the age of defoliation: B1 (age defoliation 30 days), B2 (age defoliation 45 days) and B3 (age defoliation 60 days). The results showed that the crude protein content of elephant grass silage at the age of 30 days defoliation treatment is higher than the age of defoliation 45 days and 60 days. While the highest crude fiber obtained at the age of defoliation 60 days. Elephant grass defoliation at the age 45 days and compost can to improve the content of crude fat and BETN elephant grass silage.

Abstract

Penelitian dengan penggunaan kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen bertujuan meningkatkan kalsium tulang dan melihat pengaruhnya terhadap morfologi tulang ayam broiler. Penelitian menggunakan 120 ekor ayam broiler umur 14 hari dengan rata-rata bobot badan 475 ± 0,98 g/ekor. Analisis menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang dibagi dalam 4 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan, masing-masing ulangan menggunakan 5 ekor ayam. Perlakuan sebagai berikut: T0 = Ransum perlakuan tanpa kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen, T1 = Ransum mengandung 5% Kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen, T2 = Ransum mengandung 10% Kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen, T3 = Ransum mengandung 15% Kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan prosedur analisis ragam (Analysis of Variance / ANOVA) dengan uji F dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan melalui program SPSS 16. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan kulit pisang fermentasi cairan rumen pada level 10% dalam ransum memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan panjang tulang femur (P<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian adalah, penambahan kulit pisang fermentasi baik digunakan pada taraf 10% pada periode starter dalam memaksimalkan pertumbuhan panjang tulang ayam broiler

Abstract

Nutritive value of mixed cattle feces with several levels coconut residues fermented by EM4.  This experiment used a completely randomized design of 4 treatment levels coconut waste (0, 10%, 20% and 30%), with 4 replicates in each treatment. All of treatments added 0.3% EM4  was activated and fermented semiaerob during 4 days. Physically the fermentation process were indicating a good process.  As a whole it can be concluded that increasing  of coconut residues levels up to 30% resulted in increasing estrac eter, while the contents of  crude fiber and crude protein  reduced significanly.
