Abstract

The mosque is an important witness in the spread of Islam and the shift in religious thought in the community. This article attempts to examine the role of one of the Sultan Mosque in West Kalimantan, the Sultan of Sambas Mosque. This study uses the approach of religious archeology which is supported by tracing the history. The findings of this study found: 1) the existence of Sultan Sambas Mosque are witnessing the present  of Islam in West Kalimantan and the architecture of this mosque perform of the accumulation of these objects makes Sultan Sambas Mosque is a symbolic fusion of cultures of various countries. Therefore, cosmopolitan culture already visible in the architecture of the palace mosque Sambas. 2) Sultan Sambas Mosque play an important role in the renewal of Islamic thought in West Kalimantan. Abstract

The content of Guguritan Haji Hasan Mustapa deals with the dynamic of religious life of Sundanese. Through,  Guguritan,  members of community communicate each other  by means of dialog. From the guguritan as a culture, it is manifestly that Sunda is an open cultural identity. Sunda and Sundanese also, have become the meeting point of their cultural identity. Abstract

Great Mosque of Manonjaya-Tasikmalaya is a historic ancient mosque, heritage from Nagara Sukapura (1632-1901 AD), in the realm of culture heritage objectswhich are protected by the Antiquities Act. This mosqueis a witnessof entrance and development of Islam in East Priangan–West Javawhich is in contact with the regents when they preach Islam tohis people. In this regard, Sheikh Abdul Muhyihad contributed in putting the base of Islam in this region. He,the clericfrom Pamijahan, was a teacher of theregents and their family. He also laid the first stone of the mosque construction from mushola (small mosque). The Change from musholato mosque was initiated by the Regent Sukapura VIII, Kangjeng Dalem Wiradadaha (1814 - 1837 AD). Manonjaya Great Mosque was rebuild in 2010 AD after the earthquake shattered this mosque in 2009 AD. Abstract

This paper concerns on the mysticism teaching in the manuscript entitled Makamat. The objective of this study is to describe the physical condition of the manuscript and to analyze the content of the texts in the manuscripts. To examine these contents, it uses meaning analysis. Meanwhile, to describe the physical condition of the manuscript, it employs codicology. Finding of this research shows that generally the manuscript is in a good condition and readable. It consists of four texts, and the first text was chosen as the focus of this study. It reveals that there are philosophical explanations on the basic knowledge of fiqh including wudlu, thaharah and shalat (prayer). These elements of the fiqh contain several deep meaning related to the mysticism.Keywords: Makamat, tasawuf, fiqh, manuscript.

Abstract

The Islamization process taking place at the local level gives wider opportunity to the scientists, especially the historians to conduct research, including the focus of the current research oriented on the history of Islamization. The primary source of the research is derived from manuscript. The problem issued is when did the Islamization process Selayar start? The result of the research shows that the Islamization process institutionally occurred in 1605 in Selayar based on the studies of manuscripts and documents carried out. The process of Islamization did not happen instantly, but it was begun through the previous contiguity of Islam by observing two things. Firstly, the location of Selayar Island was very strategic to become the sea trade routes and the transit for traders who were going to sail to Maluku and the surrounding. Secondly, Selayar had been under the realm of Bone kingdom, Ternate, and Gowa. As the result, the dynamic interrelationship, fluctuating, and mutual influential occurred among the political forces for the next process.Keywords: Islamization, manuscripts, Dato ri Bandang, Selayar

Abstract

Mawahib rabb al-falaq bi-syarh qasidah binti al-milaq is the book of Sufism and the teaching of Naqsyabandiyah school of thought. This book showed us there was any dialogical process of the Sufism development in Indonesia. On this scripts, it was found the turning point of the teachings of both Naqsyabandiyah developed by Syekh Isma’il al-Khalidi al-Minangkabawi and the teaching of Syaziliyah order. That turning point occurs in some aspects of teachings, such as the rabitah concept, mursyid of kamil mukammil, the concept of ma’rifah, the firmness in holding Shari’a, views on Wali Allah. The author, Syekh Isma’il was the follower of the teaching of the Syaziliyah order, besides he was also recognized as he central figure of Naqsyabandiyah order in Archipelago. Abstract

By the early 20th century, South Sulawesi is characterized by the strengthening of the Government of the Netherlands East Indies and the weakening of traditional authority. In addition, marked also by the presence of Islamic reform movement. Jamiyatul Mardiyah, Sarekat Islam, Shirathal Mustaqim and the Muhammadiyah Islamic reform organizations active in South Sulawesi, but in four of these organizations, Muhammadiyah it only works well developed. Abstract

This paper seeks to uncover the historical and religious inscriptions on the Mosque of Sulthan Ayyub Sanggau, West Kalimantan. This research used a qualitative research perspective. The Research found that the mosque still retain traditional Islamic architectural style of the main building. It is seen in the conical dome, roof shingle materials used, and mustaka located on the top of the roof of the mosque. The influence of local architectural styles seen in the mosque dominated the paint in yellow and green. The mosque is still storing artifacts as evidence of the triumph of Islam at the time, particularly by maintaining building domes, towers, flagpoles, pulpits, and some other Islamic inscriptions. Abstract

Studies in Islamic Epigraphy in Indonesia had been conducted by many national and international experts. This study focus on researchs of incriptions  that have not yet reviewed or the researchs that correcting/criticize the previous research. The study limited to research discussion about  Islamic inscription in Indonesia since the new order era until  the beginning of the 21st century. This effort  has be  done as assessments to furnish the report that has been done by  Uka Tjandrasasmita in articles investigation  the acts of paleontologists Islam in Indonesia.  This research concluded that there are many uniqueness that was found in Indonesian Islamic inscription  that the possibility of not there are in other countries.Keywords: Epigraphy, Puslitarkenas

Abstract

Islamic development in Indonesia, especially in Sunda archipelago, was not only affecting the development of language and literacy, but also in the form of poetic genre. Besides the form of poetry such as pupuh, tembang, etc. as well. Sundanese society also know types of poetry called as pupujian or syi’iran or nazhaman in Arabic (Sunda: nadoman). Nadoman has a consistent metric pattern, in which it consists of 4 syllables each arrays, with few arrays in an exception which has less or more than one syllable. The 24 syllables in one array, usually in the form of song genre, be beheaded with a pattern 4 | 4 | 4#4 | 4 | 4 (symbol #marking the middle side of array), transformed from the pattern bahr Rajaz Arabic poetry. The text of Isra Mi’raj containing the story of isra’ mi’raj has a significant social function as a medium of learning for Sunda-Islam society, especially Kuningan community where the manuscript was found. Through nadoman, the story of isra’mi’raj displayed in the form of “chanted poetry” that is easy to be remembered. Keywords: Ilmu ‘Arudl, Nadoman effective learning
