Abstract

Increasing population and economy in Pekanbaru City was clearly followed by anincrease in the number of motor vehicles has the potential to cause air pollution andendanger human health. This research was aimed to analyze the pollutant load gases of CO,HC, NO 2 , SO 2 and PM 10 emissions from motor vehicles at at Pekanbaru City. Survey on thevolume of motor vehicles, roadside air quality and vehicle emission test was conducted onthree different road in Pekanbaru city. The volume of motor vehicles and pollutants loadsfrom motor vehicle emissions was highest at Sudirman road and the lowest at Diponegororoad. There are very significant differences between Sudirman road with Diponegoro roadand Tuanku Tambusai road with Diponegoro road. Higher pollutant load was found for gasCO (76,4 %), than gas HC (19,4 %), gas NO 2 (3,6 %), gas SO 2 (0,1 % ) and PM 10 ( 0,7 % ).The largest contribution of pollutant load gas CO, HC and PM 10 comes from motorcycles, gasNO 2 from the city cars and gas SO 2 coming from the truck. The quality of roadside air in thethird road to the gases CO, NO 2 , SO 2 and PM 10 are still below the ambient air qualitystandards, whilest gas HC had passed the ambient air quality standard. A positive correlationbetween concentrations of roadside air pollutants with a load of motor vehicle emissions wasfound. The percentage of motor vehicle emission test results explain that the rates of vehiclesfueled with gasoline were higher than diesel vehicles and that do not pass of the emission testwere generally produced before 2007, while for diesel vehicles that do not pass the emissionstest opacity value that were produced in the 2010 onward.

Abstract

Domestic waste water is the highest contributor of the pollution at this time,because the waste which discharged into the stream is not being processed first, but it directlydischarged into the stream. In the big amount of waste, some microorganisms in the stream isno longer able to decompose contaminants that exist. The purpose of this study to determinewhether the wetland that contains Cyperus alternifolius can decompose the organic content ofBOD in domestic waste.The research method is using observation and measurement of theparameters BOD by using wetland which contain of Cyperus alternifolius with ArtificialWetland Subsurface Flow System (SSF-Wetlands).Results of laboratory tests of domesticwaste after processed by wetland can reduce the organic content of the BOD is 1632.0 mg/l to9 mg/l. Artificial Wetland System Subsurface Flow (SSF-Wetland) by using plants of watercan reduce the concentration of BOD in domestic waste. To get the quality of domestic wastein accordance with the quality standard, the required optimum residence time for 4 days.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the correlation between shift work and noise withwork stress of the workers in milling production division of PT . Riau Crumb Rubber Factory.This research is an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The population ofthis study consists of 125 workers in milling production. With purposive sampling techniqueand using predetermined criteria obtained a total sample of 60 people. The data werecollected using work stress scale and the measurement noise by using a sound level meter andanalyzed with bivariate using the chi square test. The results showed that there was asignificant correlation between work shifts with work stress with p value (0.000) < α ( 0.05 ).Employees who work on the night shift tend to have a high work stress when compared withemployees working on the morning shift and afternoon . There is a significant correlationbetween the level of noise with work stress with p value (0.000) < α ( 0.05 ). The higher thenoise level the higher work stress.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to determine the general condition of the HydroelectricDam area at Koto Panjang as a tourism , analyzing the potential of ecotourism to support theuse of Hydroelectric dam Koto Panjang and formulate the ecotourism development strategyof hydroelectric dam Koto Panjang by using descriptive qualitative method. The studyinvolved 76 people consist of 30 local people, 30 tourists , 6 businesses, and 10 officialsassociated with the utilization of hydroelectric dam Koto Panjang, to obtain the informationfrom the society in the hydroelectric dam area of Koto Panjang and from the tourist wasdistributed the questioners Randomly. The study was conducted from April to October 2012 atKampar regency that divided in several related institutions at Kampar Regency and in thePekanbaru city. The object and appeal of ecotourism that was potential to developed in thehydroelectric dams area at Koto Panjang were : 1) Dam with beautiful scenery floating netcages and small islands located in the dam, with fishing, boating, swimming, eating at afloating restaurant and watching the unloading of fish cages, 2) Deer Lake was located on thebanks of the dam with beautiful scenery, equipped playground for children that used as amotocross arena, 3) Aquari Beach was in the middle of the dam has a beautiful view of thewater tourism activities such as jet skis and canoes, and also the venue to routine cultureevent, Balimau Kasai. 4) The Peak Panorama was transitory (resting area) and strategicallylocated at the cross-roads between provinces with the very beautiful scenery towards the dam.5) Ketangka island has a gently sloping coastal island which overlooking the dam withbeautiful scenery was very suitable to be developed as a tourist hiking, camping, fishing,swimming and boating. 6) First bridge across the province road were on used to be atransitory because of the beautiful scenery under the bridge which was the dam with floatingnet attraction. The ecotourism development strategies in the hydroelectric Dam, KotoPanjang were: 1) Keeping our environment by setting zoning conservation and zoningdesignation of the activities in the dam, through the dam area authorities were authorized todetermine the rules.2)Conducting a variety of cultural events and activities in thehydroelectric Dam area, Koto Panjang which supported the availability of sufficient financialresources to completing the infrastructure. 3) Increasing the government's commitment toestablish authorities of hydroelectric dam area, Koto Panjang. 4) Implementing theRegulation in the Ecotourism area by involving the local communities, it supported by thefinancial support to completed adequate facilities and infrastructures, thus attracted touriststo open up new business opportunities for the local community.

Abstract

One of the environmental problems caused by the increasing growth of the industry.Industrial waste generated that goes into the soil can alter soil properties. This studyreviewing the nature of the soil as a result of the distribution of residual waste CPO (CrudePalm Oil) industry mills. This study uses the characteristics of resistivity and soil nutrientproperties. Soil resistivity properties were tested by making a model before and after thedistribution of waste residue does CPO. Then validated against field measurements, fieldmeasurements comparing the data with the model. To see the changes in nutrient content ofsoil Laboratory Testing properties of soil nutrient changes. The results showed that theresistivity properties change and nutrient content of the soil before and after the distributionof waste residue subjected CPO. Soil resistivity values that have mixed by CPO residualwaste is higher than the value of soil resistivity is not mixed waste palm oil residues, while thecontent of soil nutrients among other properties, increasing soil pH, Include content C-Organic (%) / Inceneration, P-Available (ppm) / Bray-1, N-Total (%) / Kjedahl decreaseddramatically.

Abstract

Analysis of Ni, Mn and Cr concentrations in seawater and sediment in Singkepisland coastal waters has been conducted in March 2014. All water quality parametersmeasured were still within the tolerable limits for the survival of the aquatic organisms.Samples of sea water and sediment were taken from five stations with three replicates at eachstation. Heavy metals concentrations were analyzed in the Marine Chemistry LaboratoryFaculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau by using Atomic Absorption3110 Perkin Elmer spectrophotometer. The results showed that the average concentration ofheavy metals in Singkep waters are 0.1820; 0.1084 and 0.4133 μg/L for Ni, Mn and Cr inwater, whilst in sediment are 13.2615, 13.7261 and 81.4578 μg/g for Ni, Mn and Cr. Simplelinear regression analysis indicates positive correlation between Ni in sea water and insediment with y = 10,42 + 22,19x, r = 0,138 and negative correlation with y = 15,09 -13,44xr = 0,226 for Mn and y = 104,8 - 50,76x, r = 0.354 for Cr.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to analyze and investigate the influence ofenvironmental factors and characteristics of workers towards lung function capacity offurniture industry workers at Pekanbaru. This study used a cross-sectional design, with totalsampling technique as much as 52 people of furniture industry workers. The result showed,there are 3 variables which affect lung function capacity of workers, that is exposure torespirable dust, smoking habit, and use of self protective tools. From the bivariate analyzes, itfound that exposure to respirable dust is the most dominant variable that affect the capacityof pulmonary function with p value: 0,000, that is equal to 41 times higher than workers withdust levels below the threshold value.

Abstract

Buffalo breeding system in pekandangan culture in Kuantan Singingi Regencycontains diversity patterns of adaptation to the environment and the values of local wisdomwhich is a form of knowledge that is combined with traditional norms, cultural values andenvironmental management activities that guide the community in meeting the needs of liveand interact with their environment is still very relevant to the current conditions, and shouldbe preserved, adapted or even developed further in accordance with the concept ofsustainability. This study aims to analyze the forms of local wisdom in pekandangan culturein accordance with the concept of sustainable buffalo breeding systems, analyze activity andcultural barriers in pekandangan culture, and analyze public perceptions of the pekandanganculture. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method approach. Datacollection using observation, interview and documentation. In-depth interviews conductedwith key informants: breeders, chairman of the group of pekandangan, traditional leaders,community leaders, village chiefs and Dinas Peternakan of Kuantan Singingi Regencyofficials. Structured interview was conducted to determine the public perception of therespondents were community residing 0.5-3 km of pekandangan area.The results of the studyas follows: (1) The forms of local wisdom in accordance with the concept of sustainablebuffalo breeding systems in the pekandangan culture is cage architecture uses the directsunlight, the cage material is made of organic or renewable materials, utilizing buffalo dunginto manure, bonfire material from organic ingredients, free fodder pesticides, buffalograzing by means of foot, and the existence of regular meeting of pekandangan groups /societies and mutual help activities. (2) Public perception of pekandangan culture is goodbecause it provides benefits and economic advantages, can improve people's lives and have asocial system.

Abstract

Studies of changes in land use is essential in the kemoning watershed Sampangregency of East Java Province, due to changes in land use have an impact on the physicalenvironment, social and economic, including its impact on flooding. The purpose of this studywas to analyze changes in land use, using satellite imagery, GIS and cross tabulation,analyzing changes in precipitation computed arithmatik method to obtain the average rainfallin 2004, 2009, and 2013. Analyzing the dynamics of the discharge in the kemoning watershed2004, 2009 and 2013 FJ. Mock method. Analyzing changes in land use and its impact on theriver regime coefficient kemoning watershed. The study states that the decline in land area forforest, mixed garden, open land, mangrove, wetland, scrub, and an increase in landsettlements, field / fields and ponds. The amount of rainfall and flow rates tend to increasefrom 2004 to 2013, as well as the highest rainfall. Coefficient of river regime generally showpoor state of the watershed from 2004 to 2013.Changes in land use of open land (forests,orchards or fields) into land for settlement leads to reduced surface water infiltration,increase runoff, and reduce groundwater recharge it is very influential on the river regimecoefficient. It is an indicator of the environmental damage has occurred to the hydrologicalfunctions, namely a decrease in soil water availability because of the rain water is wasted,and only partially infiltrated into the groundKey words: rainfall, discharge, coefficient of river regime, land use
