Abstract

This research was aimed to examines the effect of gibberellin concentration on germination, growth and yield components of rice varieties in flood prone areas. Based on the objective, the nature of this research was verification by experimental approach in screen house and in the field. The research was conducted in the screen house and in the field of production garden of the Faculty of Agriculture of Winaya Mukti Tanjungsari - Sumedang, with a height of 850 m asl. Experiments used Randomized Completely Block Design as factorial pattern, which consisted of two factors namely four levels of gibberellin concentration and five levels of local rice varieties of West Java. Each treatment was repeated twice, then the total amount: 4 x 5 x 2 = 40 plots. Based on the results of research and discussion that had been described in the previous, it could be drawn conclusions on germination, growth and yield components of flood prone land, including: (1) there was an interaction between the various local rice varieties of West Java and the level of gibberellin concentration to the inundation stress on the ratio of root dump at age 40 day after planting, (2) the concentration of gibberellin 10 mg.L-1 gave the best results on observations for each local varieties of egypt and varieties Mareum on the root-to-dose ratio of 40 days after planting and Varieties of rice plants independently effect the number of sprouts aged day after planting, seed vigor, root length of roots, plant height 40 days after planting, and number of tillers per hump of 40 days after planting.Keywords: Rice varieties, Flooded plains, Giberelin acid

Abstract

The research was aimed to determine the response of root-shoot ratio of melon (Cucumis melo L.) on planting medium and different water availability. The research was conducted for three months starting from July until September 2017 at Greenhouse of Agriculture and Marine of Cilegon City. The experimental used Randomized Completely Design as factorial with 2 factors. The first factor was planting medium consisted of 3 levels ie 100 % soil medium, compost medium 100%, and soil medium + compost 1: 1. The second factor was water stress consisted of 4 levels ie without water stress, water stress interval every 3 days, water stress interval every 6 days, and water stress interval 9 days. The results showed that the root-shoot ratio was influenced by reduced water availability and medium planting. The longer the water delivery interval decreased the root-shoot ratio of melon.Keywords: Root-shoot ratio, Planting medium, Water deficit

Abstract

Productivity of rice crops (Oryza sativa) which grown in saline soils can improve due to application endophytic bacteria biofertilizer. Endophytic bacteria lives in plant tissues have an able to fix nitrogen from the air that for supply N to plant tissue more optimal. The research was aimed to know the effects of endophytic bacteria biofertilizer on enhance bacterial populations, nitrogen uptake, and dry weight of rice grown in saline soil. This research was conducted from March 2016 until February 2017 in Soil Biology Laboratory and in Laboratory of Soil Chemistry and Fertility, Soil Science Department and Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran and Experiment Field of Ciparanje, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran with 752 meters above the sea level. This research used Randomized Completely Block Design which consisted of eight combinations: A (salinity of 0 dS m-1), B (salinity of 0 dS m-1 + biofertilizer), C (salinity of 2 dS m-1), D (salinity of 2 dS m-1 + biofertilizer), E (salinity of 4 dS m-1), F (salinity of 4 dS m-1 + biofertilizer), G (salinity of 6 dS m-1), H (salinity of 6 dS m-1 + biofertilizer). The result showed that at salinity 2 dS m-1 rice plant still survive growing on salinity stress. Salinity treatment of 2 dS m-1 + endophytic biofertilizer have enhance affect to bacterial population, N uptake and dry weight of rice compared to salinity of 4 and 6 dS m-1.Keywords: Endophytic bacteria, Rice (Oryza sativa L.), Saline soils

Abstract

Talas beneng (Xanthosoma undipes K. Koch) is the local taro from Mountain Coral of Banten Province. This research was aimed to know the nutrient content, composition, oxalic acid and mineral content in the stem leaves of Talas Beneng are cultivated by the community at different places. The research was carried out from Maret until May 2017. This research was conducted in the form of field research around the area of Mountain Coral, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Analysis of the stem leaves of Talas Beneng was done in PT. Saraswanti Indo Genetech, Bogor. The results showed that the content of proksimat stem leaves of Talas Beneng was cultivated include water, ash, protein, fat and carbohydrates. Moisture content at a higher altitude 200 m above sea level (asl): (93.90%) compared to the height of 400 m dpl (93.22%) and height of 800 m dpl (92.72%). Ash content at altitudes of 800 m asl was higher (0.73%) compared to the height of the 200 m asl (0.58%) and height of the 400 m asl (0.58%). Protein content at altitudes of 200 m asl was higher (0.48%) compared to the height of the 400 m asl (0.22%) and height of the 800 m asl (0.39%). Fat content at altitudes of 200 m asl, height of the 400 m asl and height of the 800 m asl is 0%. Carbohydrate content at altitudes of 800 m asl was higher (6.19%) compared to the height of the 200 m asl (5.04%) and height of the 400 m asl (5.98%). Content of oxalic acid (0.228%) at an altitude of 800 m asl higher than the height of the 200 m asl (0.195%) and the height of the 400 m asl (0.169%).Keywords: Elevation, Proximate, Oxalic acid, Talas beneng

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the effect of the interaction between soaking time and the concentration of GA3 hormones that affect the vigor, and viability of seeds Teak (Tectona grandis Lf) in the nursery, as well as finding the length of time of immersion and the best hormone concentration GA3 on vigor, and viability of seeds teak in the nursery. Experiments Used A Randomized Block Design as factorial, which consisted of two factors: the length of immersion and concentration of GA3 hormones. The first factor was the length of immersion (W), consisting of four levels: w1 = Immersion 6 hours in GA3, w2 = Immersion 12 hours in GA3, w3 = Immersion 18 hours in GA3 and w4 = Immersion 24 hours in GA3. The second factor was the concentration of hormones GA3 (A), consisted of four levels: a1 = concentration of 250 ppm GA3 hormones, a2 = concentration of 500 ppm GA3 hormones, a3 = concentration of 750 ppm GA3 hormones, a4 = concentration of 1000 ppm GA3 hormones. The results showed that an interaction between the length of immersion and the concentration of the hormone GA3 on plant height aged 30, 45, 75 and 90 HST. Interaction treatment of fluid concentration of GA3 hormone and the best immersion time from observation of the best observation of the best plant that was combination of concentration 750 ppm with time of soaking 24 hours.Keywords: Seeds, quality, Giberalin hormone, Variability, Vigor

Abstract

Castor oil plant (Jatropha curcas L.) is one of the types of plants that can be alternative energy sources replacement fuel. Plant spacing the Castor oil plant Jatropha curcas belongs to the shrubs that come from Central America, Mexico and spread to Africa and Asia. Process presses the castor bean castor oil can produce Jatropha curcas called crude Jatropha curcas oil and can be used as a substitute for kerosene for household use. This research has been carried out at the experimental Ciparanje, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran. In Jatinangor Sumedang reached places with an altitude of 829 m above sea level in June 2016-January 2017. The goal of the research is to obtain doses of the humic acid and dose of Asrbuskula Mycorrhiza Fungi and effect on plant growth the distance the fence. This research used a Randomized Completely Block Design as Factorial Design Patterns Group consists of two factors and three replicates. The first factor is the second factor of the humic acid and Asrbuskula Mycorrhiza Fungi. The observations were analyzed statistically using test method F. Test Duncan's Multiple Range Test done when F calculate the treatment is greater than F table 5%. The results showed that humic acid was accompanied by Asrbuskula Mycorrhiza Fungi provides high-impact on crops, the diameter of the heading, rate of growing plants, the relative rate of plants, broad leaves, and net assimilation rate. A dose of 20 g humic acid which carries 5 g Asrbuskula Mycorrhiza Fungi was the best dose for plant growth the distance the fence.Keywords: Fences, Humic acid, Mycorrhiza Arbuskula Fungi

Abstract

Pineapple cultivation activities that have been carried out over the years result in diminished soil fertility quality. This can be caused by the use of fertilizers and pesticides used in each pineapple cultivation cycle. Soil microbial activity, microbial biomass, organic C, and soil nutrient conditions are indicators of soil hygiene by the biochemical processes associated with nutrient cycles, especially nitrogen and organic matter content. The purpose of this research was to know how the characteristics of soil chemical properties and total microbial on land that has received fertilizer treatment during planting process. The location of the soil sampling was based on the difference of production level ie 9 blocks of land location consisting of 6 blocks of low production site location and 3 blocks of high production land. Each block of production site land, soil samples were collected by 9 soil samples and composite into one sample. Research data was analyzed by T test and correlation. From the results of the research on the land with different production results, it was found that only the P and N content of elements with significant value <0.05 of the rest was no significant value, although it was not mean that microb and other soil chemical properties have no role to plant growth. Abstract

Giberelin can reduce the effects of heat stress on wheat crops grown medium height. This experiment was aimed the concentration of gibberellin and the effective application time of gibberellin to give the best response of yield components in wheat. The experiment conducted from 2 November 2016 until 2 February 2017 at Ciparanje experiment field, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadajaran, with an altitude of 795 metres above sea level. The experimental design used a Randomized Completely Block Design with factorial pattern which consisted of two factors and two replication. First factor was consentration gibberellin consisted of three levels : 250 ppm, 350 ppm and 450 ppm. Second factor was time application that consisted of 10, 25, 40, 55 and 70 Days After Planting. The results of this research showed that there were interaction effect on number of grains per panicle and weight 100 grain. Concentration of gibberellin hormone 350 ppm affected the number of filled grain per panicle in 25 Days After Planting. Furthermore, the weight of 100 grains showed the highest yield at concentration 450 ppm gibberellin hormone with a level of application time 10 Days After Planting.Keywords : Wheat, Gibberellin, Time application

Abstract

The high content of NaCl in soil may lead to nutrient imbalance and inhibit the Nitrogen uptake by plants. Azolla pinnata can be used as an organic ameliorant to help plant roots in absorbing nutrients and enhancing the number of available N for plants. The aim of this research was to ascertain whether Azolla pinnata as organic ameliorant gave the significant difference on the enhancement of N content of soil, pH of soil, and dry weight of rice plant on various salinity level of soil and also to find out if Azolla pinnata could suppress salinity stress at certain salinity. The experiment was conducted at the Greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor and also at the Laboratory of Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrion, Departement of Soil Science and Land Resources on November 2016 until March 2017. The experimental design used was Randomized Completely Block Design with 8 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment was consisted of without the organic ameliorant Azolla pinnata, and with the application of Azolla pinnata on salinity level 0, 2, 4, 6 mmhos cm-1. The results showed that the application of NaCl and Azolla pinnata gave the significant difference on soil pH, and dry weight of plant. The application of Azolla pinnata is not able yet to suppress the rice symptom of salinity stress at 2, 4, and 6 mmhos cm-1 on the enhancement of dry weight of plant. The application of Azolla at salinity 6 mmhos cm-1 was equivalent with salinity 2 mmhos cm-1 in producing dry weight of plant.Keywords: NaCl, Organic ameliorant Azolla pinnata, Rice, Salinity

Abstract

The research was aimed to know the effects of seedling size and kind of organic fertilizer to the plant tuber yield of talas beneng (Xanthosoma undipes K. Koch). Research was conducted from August 2016 until January 2017 in KampungJuhut, KarangTanjung Sub-district, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. This research used Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was seedling size (D) wich consisted three levels namely D1 : 1 cm – 3.5 cm, D2 : 4 cm – 6.5 cm, and D3 : 7 – 9.5 cm. The second factor was kind of organic fertilizer (P) wich consisted three levels namely P1 : chicken manure fertilizer, P2 : goat manure fertilizer and P3 : organic fertilizer (pertoganik). The parameters observed were tuber weight, tuber diameter, tuber length, number of tuber secondary, oxalate content . The resultsshowed that the size of the seedling diameter giving the best influence on the long tuber length of the taro tuber (Xanthosomaundipes K. Koch) was on the D3 treatment (7 – 9.5 cm). The treatment of organic fertilizer type of chicken manure (P1) gave the best influence to the parameters of the number of secondary tubers. There was no interaction between seed size and type of organic fertilizer on all parameters observed.Keyword: Talasbeneng (Xanthosoma undipesK. Koch), Seedling size, Organicfertilizer
