Abstract

Mud crabs fishing by using collapsible trap could be carried on day and night with different bait. Fishing time and bait affectivity have not been considered by fisherman. The objective to determine more effective fishing time and bait in laboratoty scale. The research was conducted in laboratory with Priacanthus tayenus, Upeneus sulphurus and cowhide as bait. Fishing time was divided into three parts, in the morning, afternoon and evening. Data was analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis. The result showed that the different bait and fishing time has significantly effect on the frequency and weight of mud crab that caught. Upeneus sulphurus is preferably bait than other bait and morning fishing time is the most effective than other time.Keyword: bait, capture time, collapsible trap, mud crab (Scylla serrata)

Abstract

A study has  been carried out to identify the bacteria that  infected the  garra  rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostamus) which have been transported through the Quarantine Office of Soekarno - Hatta Airport.  These fishes were among the freshwater commodities which frequently transported throughout various countries, because they were commonly used for decreasing the effect of psoriasis in a feet  spa  treatment, by  feeding  the  dead  cells of  feet  skin.  Therefore, the possibility of spreading the diseases during  the treatment must be anticipated. In this study the bacteria samples were taken from the fish skin and then cultured in the laboratory. After purification of the  cultures,  the bacteria were then tested by a serial  microbiological methods to identify the bacteria. The results showed that the Garra rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostomus)  observed in this study  indicated  the presence of   bacteria  of  (+) Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia,  and  (-) of   Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia, which were among the diseases of quarantine fishes.  While the Aeromonas hydrophylla  was also found out, even though not  included as diseases of quarantine fishes. Therefore, they may received the health  certificate  for  fish and fish product for export as well as  for therapeutic purposes .Keyword: garra rufa, bacterial identification, bacterial pathogen

Abstract

Prebiotics which are non-digestible ingredients that benefit the host by stimulating growth and activity of health promoting bacteria. This research aimed to know blood parameters of tilapia with the addition of different dose of prebiotics in feed. Fish were feed four times daily in ad satiation. The feed used was commercially feed with 32 % carbohydrates, 7 % lipids and 30 % proteins. The prebiotic used was extracted from sweet potato so called sukuh variety. The experiment were done with three treatments and three replicates, namely 0% prebiotic, 1% prebiotic and 2% prebiotic. The result showed that application of prebiotic in feed can promote better tilapia blood parameters and immune system compared to control. The treatment with the addition of 1% prebiotic showed best result to improve leucocyte, lymphocytes and the phagocytic index among other treatments.Keyword: blood parameters, immune system, prebiotic, Tilapia

Abstract

Jakarta is the capital of the state whose condition is very dense; to meet the requirement of land for the development and expansion of Jakarta, the reclamation of Jakarta Bay was planned. In addition to overcome the limitations of the land, reclamation activities will also be able to play a very important role in the rearrangement and can give a distinctive character to the area Ancol Beach.   One of the activities affected due to the reclamation of Jakarta Bay is a fisheries activity.  Fishermen in the Bay of Jakarta actually have shown opposition to reclamation, so the control of ongoing projects and activities related to dredging is necessary to ensure that the impacts are very minimal impact on fisheries and aquaculture activities. It was required a study of the impact of reclamation on fisheries  activities and fishermen adaptation.  The objectives of this study are (1) to understand the knowledge and acceptance of the fishermen to the reclamation activity, (2) to understand the fishing communitys perception of the impact of reclamation and (3) to understand the patterns of adaptation of the fishing communities due to the reclamation.  Desktop study and interview were conducted to collect the data.  Calculation of composition and GIS analysis were conducted to analyze the data.  The level of knowledge of fishermen in Cilincing, Muara Angke and Muara Baru on reclamation activities showed a low level of knowledge.  Sedimentation during the reclamation process is a major concern to the fisheries. Some fishermen said the reclamation had no impact on the fishing areas. Fishermen will keep trying to catch fish even have to move their fishing areas or have to move their village.Keyword: reclamation, Jakarta Bay, fisheries, fisherman

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of prebiotic to promote the growth of tilapia. Fish were fed four times daily in ad satiation. The Feed used were commercial feed pellet dry with 32% carbohydrates, 7% lipids and 30% proteins. The prebiotic used was extracted from sweet potato varieties sukuh. The experiment were done with three treatments and 3 replicates, namely control A (0% prebiotic), B (1% prebiotic) and C (2% prebiotic). The results showed that application of prebiotic in feed can promote better tilapia growth compared to control. The treatment with the addition of 1% prebiotics showed the best result on promoting tilapia growth, feed efficiency, bacteria population in gastrointestinal tract, apparent digestibility and nutrition retention among other treatments respectively.Keyword: prebiotic, growth performance, tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Abstract

Use environmentally unfriendly mud crab fishing technology threat sustainability.  Catching crab is more environmentally friendly can be done with the installation of escape gap in collapsible trap. Escape gap use to escape not economic mud crab.  This study aims to determine the shape and size of escape gap and more effective installation position for use on collapsible traps. The results showed that the rectangle escape gap with dimensions 60x36 mm can carry a mangrove crab with carapace width <70 mm. The installation position of the most effective escape gap is on the side under the funnel with crab escape frequency percentage of 53%. Abstract

Bottom gillnet was classified into static fishing gear that require high stability. The main dimensions of the ship are very important in the manufacture of fishing boats. The main dimensions of the ship ratio (L/B, L/D and B/D) greatly affects to the stability, strength and speed. The lack of availability of information and data collection on the main dimensions can be an obstacle in the development of fishing activities. The experiment was conducted in April-October 2014 in Karangantu Archipelagic fshing port Serang city Banten Province. The results showed the main dimensions of the ships have range of LOA= 6.76-13.43 m, Bmax= 1.50-3.00 m and D= 0.27-1.04 m. The main dimension of ratio the ships have range of L/B is 2.60-6.67; L/D is 8.65-28.15 and B/D is 1.50-8.15. The engine powers that are widely used is 16 and 24 PK. The fishermen did not use the main dimensions ratio to determine the length of bottom gillnet and engine power.Keyword: bottom gillne, main dimensions, ratio, ship

Abstract

Development of fisheries, including aquaculture sub-sector and capture fisheries in Wakatobi and Morotai Island district concerning the balance between social, economic, and environmental. Fisheries management system includes the development of fisheries attention both aspects. Condition of fishery resources has decreased need fisheries management in order to remain sustainable and deliver sustainable results. Management of fisheries resources should be done in a holistic manner. Strategies in the management of sustainable fisheries resources are: The integration between environmental, economic and social alignments against fishermen; Structuring local institutions; Providing quotas for fisheries and aquaculture, and determination of customary rights.Keywords: sustainable, holistic, fishermen, quotas, customary rights.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one freshwater fish which have high economic value. In the culture of tilapia, feed is the most important external factors. The optimal levels of protein to support the growth of tilapia ranged from 28-40 %, however the digested one is only about 20-25 % and the others were wasted and accumulated in the water. An attempt have been done to improve the feed digestibility value in tilapia by using the prebiotics addition to the feed. The aims of this research was to evaluate the addition of prebiotics to the feed to improve feed digestibility value in tilapia. The parameters measured were the amount of feed intake, the total population of bacteria, protein digestibility, fat digestibility, total digestibility, protein retention, fatty retention, specific growth rate, survival rate and feed efficiency. The results showed that the protein digestibility was 92.25%, fatty digestibility was 96.61% and total digestibility was 86.77%. The best results of feed was found in the addition of 1% prebiotic.Keyword: digestibility, prebiotics, tilapia

Abstract

Cantrang (danish seine) is the most fishing gear used by fisheries along the coast of north java waters. The Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Affair of fishing gears regulation number 02/MEN/2011, cantrang operation areas more than areas 2 or 3 miles. They are using various size and design construction in each location. This paper would be descripting the design and construction of cantrang and comparing with Indonesian Standard (SNI) 01-7236-2006. The comparative value of net wing from Tegal more long than total length of net, circumference of mouth net cantrang Rembang approximately 60,84 meters more large than total length. The panel of webbing cantrang from Tegal has appropriate standar. Fishing ground of cantrangs are spread in north java waters approximately 30 – 60 meters. The operation of cantrang is all of year every day, especially when the wind condition from the east to the west areas, and sometimes they are operation in coastal area. Considering of comparation data, design and construction of fishing gear as cantrang from Brondong and Rembang are not related with SNI 01-7236-2006.Keyword: cantrang, danish seine, design, construction, webbing
