Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the income and the development strategy forhybrid cornfarming system at Labuan Sub District of Donggala Regency. The research used a purposive sampling method. Secondary and primary data were collected through observation, interview, questionnaire and focus group discussion (FGD). The income analysis indicated that the farmers’ income level of the hybrid corn farming system in Labuan sub district of Donggala regency was IDR 11,896,031.15/0.92/planting season/ha. The strategy for developing the hybrid corn farming system was strength-opportunity to supportprograms as follows : 1) improvingproduction by using or adopting newagriculture technologies; 2) establishing partnership with industry or government to obtain markets or production facility supplies; 3) increasing productivity through extension. Some factors needed to be taken into consideration in the development of the hybrid corn farming system in sub districtof Donggala regencyare the availability equipments, capital, post-harvest handling, fertilizer distribution, pest and diseaseprevention, climate change and the availability of youth labor. Both government and private sectors are needed to support the programs for developing the hybrid corn farming system in Labuan district of Donggala regencyin order to improve the welfare of the farmer groups and their family. Keywords: Development of Hybrid Corn, Farm, Income, Strategy.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium cepa) is one type of horticultural commodities that have great opportunities in the agribusiness sector. However, the shallot cultivation has still been facing with beet armyworm (Spodopter exigua) pests.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of botanical pesticide made from chilli (C. annuum) and garlic (A. sativum) on mortality of larvae of S. exigua. The research was carried on in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako from September to December 2015. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments, each treatment was repeated three times so there were 21 experimental units. The composition of the treatmentswas as follows: control (p0, water only), 2 ml fresh chilli/100 ml water (p1), 4 ml rotten chilli/100 ml water (p2), 6 ml fresh garlic/100 ml water (p3), 8 ml rotten garlic/100 ml water (p4), 10 ml rotten chilli + rotten garlic/100 ml water (p5), 12 ml fresh chilli + fresh garlic/100 ml water (p6). The results showed that the concentration of 10 ml of rottenchilli + rottten garlic/100 ml water is very effective in suppressing the S. exigua larvae by 83% – 96% within 3 – 4 days after the botanical pest application.Keywords: Botanical pesticides, Mortality of Spodoptera exigua Hubner.

Abstract

The research was conductedin Ampana Tete sub district of Tojo Una-Una regency. This research aimed to(1)determine the income of corn farming system,and (2) determine the development strategy for developing corn agribusiness in Ampana Tete sub district of Tojo Una-Una Regency. Samples were taken by a random sampling method. Fourty respondents were selected from farmer population of 357 people. The tools for data analysis were income, SWOT and QSPM analysis. The income of the farming system was found to be IDR 6,143,974/ha/planting season in average. SWOT analysis results indicated that the appropriate strategy in the development of agribusiness corn is a S-O strategy (Strength-Opportunities) supporting an aggressive strategy, with strategy formulation (1) increaseing production by using or adopting appropriate agricultural technologies, (2) increasing land potency and utilizing government support to increase production; and (3) creating partnership with the industry or government to obtain market and equipments needed. The QSPM analysis results suggested that the best strategy is that increasing production by using or adopting appropriate agricultural technologieswith a total value of attractiveness (TAS) of 5.850Keywords: Corn Agribusiness, development strategy, and income.

Abstract

High tomatoes production in Boyaoge not necessarily has positive impact on farmers’ incomedue to the fluctuation of the tomatoes price.  The aims of this study were to (1) identify the form of marketing channels and margins at each marketing channel in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City, (2) to determine tomatoes price in each marketing channel accepted by farmers in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City and (3) the determine marketing efficiency in each marketing channel in in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City.  Farmer respondents 30 people were chosen using census method while traders using tracing sampling technique. The research results showed that the sale price of the tomatoes by the farmers in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City is either IDR 91,520,000/15 ha equal to  IDR 60,800,000/ha.  The tomato farming system in in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City is feasible to be developed as sshown by its two marketing channels: (1) Farmers à Collecting Traders à Distributing Traders à Consumers; (2) Farmers à Distributing Trader à Consumers.  The total margin for each marketing channel was IDR 2,000/kg.  The part of the price received by the farmers was 50% from either channel 1 or 2.   The marketing channel 2 is more efficient than the marketing channel 2 as the ratio of the total cost to the sale price in the former marketing was 17.66% whereas the latter was 5.95%. KeyWords: Marketing, and Tomatoes Farming

Abstract

Cocoa is one of the export commodities from plantation sub-sector which is the leading commodity in Central Sulawesi. This research aimed at determining: (1) the influence of  productive plant number, urea fertilizer, SP36 fertilizer, KCl fertilizer, employees, and plant age on cocoa production in Tongoa village, and (2)the income of cocoa farmingin Tongoa village. This research used a survey method.  Sixty five households were taken as samplesusing a simple random technique. The results showed that: (1) Ftest =43.425 with probability               p = 0.000<0.05 at ɑ = 5% indicating that the independent variables such as number of productive plants (X1), urea (X2), SP36 (X3), KCl (X4), employees (X5), and age of plants (X6) simultaneously had significant influence on the cocoa production in Tongoa village Palolo. The adjusted coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.796 showing that the variation  of cocoa production (Y) can be explained by the independent variablesby 79.9%, while               the remaining 20.1% was explained by other factors that were not included in the model, such as climate, etc. The number of productive plants variable (X1), urea(X2), SP36 fertilizer (X3), KCl (X4), employees (X5), and plant age (X6) were also each partially influence the cocoa production in Tongoa village Palolo significantly at the level of 95% while KCl fertilizerat the level of 90%; and (2) The average revenue of the cocoa farming was  IDR 37,251,938.46/1.74 ha/year equal to IDR 21,409,160.04 /ha/year while the average income of cocoa production was IDR 27,798,502.38/1.74 ha/year equal to IDR 15,976,150.79/ha/year.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine factors affecting the level of income and the feasibility of wetland rice farming system in Sidera village Sigi Biromaru sub district of Sigi districts. Thirty one respondents determined using a simple random technique was selected from population of 110 farmers.  Income and feasibility analysis were used to analyze data obtained. The results showed that land, seed and fertilizer are highly significant affected the production of the wetland rice farming system. The revenue of the rice farming system in Sidera village Sigi Biromaru sub district of Sigi districts IDR 8,698,064.52/1.29 equal to IDR 6,742,685.67/ha in average with the average total cost of IDR 3,610,086.87/1.29 equal to IDR 2,798,516.95/ha and the average total income of IDR 5,087,979.65/1.29 equal to IDR 3,944,168.72/ha. Keywords: Feasibility, Income, Revenueand  Wetland Rice.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aimedwas to determine the effect of hedgerows planting distance and the rates of manure on growth and yield of tomato. This research was conducted in Bulupountu Jaya, Biromaru sub district, Sigi Biromaru district during December 2015 until March 2016. The study was compiled using a randomized block design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor wasplanting distances (P) with three levels i.e.10 cm x150 cm (p1), 20 cm x150 cm (p2) and 30 cm x150 cm (p3).  The second factor was manure (K) consisting fourrates i.e. control (K0), 10 tons/ha (K1), 15 tons/ha (k2) and 20 tons/ha (K3).  Each treatment was repeated three times, thus there were 36 experimental plots. The results indicated that the hedgerows plantingdistance and the manure rateshighly affected plant height leaf number, fruit weight and number of tomatoes fruits.  The planting distance of 30 cm x150 cm with 20 tons chicken manure/ha resulted in best growth and highest yield of tomato plant. Keywords: Chicken manure rate, Hedgerows planting distance, Tomato Growth And Yield.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of land use, fertilizer, seed and labor on the production of curly red chili in Bulupountu Jaya village Sigi Biromaru subdistrict of Sigi Regency. The population in this study was the whole group of 60 farmers who cultivate curly red chili within which a total sample of 37 farmer were selected to represent the population.  Data obtained was analyzed using multiple linear analysis. Results of the analysis showed that the independent variables (X) simulataneously affect the production (the dependent variable, Y) significantly. This is showed by the value of the F-count of 63.528 whic is significant at 5% level.  The value of the coefficient of determination (R2 ) was 0.969 indicating that 99% of the variation of the curly red chili production (Y) can be explained by such variables as land area (X1), urea (X2), ZA fertilizer (X3), ponska fertilizer (X4) seed (X5), pesticides (X6), and labor, (X7), while the other 1% can be explained other variables not including in the models. Land area, urea fertilizer, ZA fertilizer, ponska fertilizers, seeds, pesticides and labor simultaneously can affect the production of curly red chili farming in Bulupountu Jaya village sigiBiromarusubdistrictsigi Regency. Keywords: Production, Curly red chili, Bulupountu Jaya Village.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from arenga palm sap on the growth of wetland rice.  The research was conducted in the experimental plot of BPTP Sidondo Palu. The research results showed that the liquid organic fertilizer has significant effect on plant height at 28 days after planting (DAP).  The addition of 50 ml LOF L-1 resulted in significantly higher plant height (84.11 cm) than other concentrations at 5% level of Honestly Significant Test.  The LOF also has significant effect on number of tillers.  At 28 DAP, the addition of 25 ml LOF L-1 shows significanltly larger tiller number (17.97) than other concentrations while at 43 DAP, that of 50 ml L-1 has significantly highest tiller number (18.37). Meanwhile, the rice description of Mekongga variety indicates that it can produce 16 tillers. Key words:  Arenga palm sap, liquid organic fertilizer.

Abstract

This study aimed to of analyze the growth of Lembah Palu shallot variety (Allium cepa L. Aggregatum group). This study took place in February-May 2015 and conducted in Bulupountu village, Sigi district of Central Sulawesi Province. This study used a randomized complete block design (RCBK) within which treatments were grouped based on the diameter of shallot bulbs.  The treatments consisted of five different atonic and liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) concentrations with four replicates. The treatments included control (A0), 5 ml atonic/l water (A1),40 ml LOF/l water (A2), 2.5 ml atonic/l water + 40 ml LOF/l water (A3), and 5 ml atonic/l water + 20 ml LOF/l water (A4).  Data was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Honestly Significant Difference at 0.05 level. The treatments significantly affect total dry weight of crop, net assimilation rate,crop growth rate and leaf area ratio but total leaf area per plant not significant. Key Words : Atonic, liquid organic fertilizer, and Lembah Palu shallot variety.
