Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate eggs lay preferences of white stem borer (Scirphopagainnotata) on three varieties of dry land rice. The experiment was set up in a CompletelyRandomized design consist of three varieties (Habo, Superwin dan Sunggul Manohon) with fivereplicates. Preference test was arranged in free chosen and non chosen test. Parameter measuredwas the number of eggs oviposited by Scirphopaga innotata 4 days after application. The resultsshowed that the highest number of eggs was recorded in Superwin variety followed by Habo andSunggul Manohon. The data suggested that Habo and Superwin varieties were more preferred as ahost plant by Scirphopaga innotata compared with Sunggul Manohon and indicated that bothvarieties were more susceptible to Scirphopaga innotata.Key words: Dry land rice, preferences, rice white stem borer.

Abstract

This research aim was to identify (1) The income level of monoculture and intercropping coconut farms and (2) the relationship of increasing capital and income in farm coconut. The research location was purposively chosen at Panii Village, Damsol Subdistrict of Donggala Regency. Respondents were randomly determined the toss system based on the assumption that the coconut farm condition was homogeny including: (1) land area size, and (2) self own farm. The number of population was 101 households within which 51 household samples were chosen (19 households for monoculture coconut farm and 31 households for intercropping coconut farm). The product moment correlation was used to analyze the relationship of increasing capital and income while descriptive analysis was used to identify the income level. Results of research indicated that (1) the average income of the monoculture and intercropping coconut farms were IDR 2,266,881.53 and IDR 4,859,982.97 ha-1 harvesting-1, respectively, and (2) the correlation of capital and income in coconut farm at Panii village was positive and significant.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the micro climate within a greenhouse in order to predict the flowering time and physiological maturity of tomato plant grown in the greenhouse. Heat unit was also used to determine the growing and development stage of tomato. Tomato was planted in the greenhouse for the period of August to December 2010 at Climatically Research Agency, Cimanggu, Bogor. The weather data collected using automatically weather station (aws) included air temperature, minimum and maximum temperature, relative humidity, and solar radiation intensity. The results of the research showed that heat unit of tomato during the growth period were 1692oC days. The average of air temperature and the relative humidity in the greenhouse was 27.1oC and 74.2%, respectively. The method of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) showed that coefficient correlations (R) of the flowering time and physiological maturity were 0.43655 and 0.48751, respectively, while the RMSE values were 5.2314 and 2.2539, respectively. Key words :  Artificial neural network (ANN), greenhouse, and microclimate.
