Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with high prevalence, associated with various debilitating complications and can decreases the quality of life in people with it. It is important for people with DM to doing exercise to control the stability of their blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to finding out the association between frequency, duration, and intensity of exercise with average blood glucose levels in people with DM. This was an observational study that used case control design. Data obtained from interview with 20 samples from case group and 20 samples from control group, that had been chosen with systematic random sampling technique. Dependent variable of this study was the average blood glucose levels and independents variables were frequency, duration, intensity, and the kind of exercise. This study used Chi Square test 3 × 2 contingency tables to finding out the association and risk of dependent variable with independent variables,. The results showed that exercise factors that associated to average blood glucose levels were duration of exercise (p = 0.022) and intensity of exercise (p = 0.021). The frequency of exercise does not associated to average blood glucose levels (p = 0.340). Diabetic patients who did not do any exercise have the risk of having uncontrolled blood glucose levels. The conclusion was duration and intensity of exercise related significantly to blood glucose levels. By doing exercise three times a week for 30 minutes or more can decreases the risk of uncontrolled blood glucose levels in people with DM.Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, exercise, average blood glucose levels

Abstract

Hypertension is the one of non-communicable diseases that interferes  circulation system and quite disturbing the public’s health. Globally, hypertension is estimated to causes 7,5 million deaths, about 12,8% of all deaths. The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlation between exercise habit with hypertension incidence in patients more than 45 years old. This research was observasional analytic study and used cross sectional design. This research was conducted to 97 patients who visited Kedurus public health center in May 2015used systematic random sampling. The dependent variable in this study was hypertension, while independent variables were the status of exercise, frequency of exercise and duration of exercise. Data were analyzed by chi-square test. The result showed that the incidence of hypertension mostly suffered by respondents age 45 to 59 years old was equal to 52,8%, female (80,6%) and educational level was senior high school (26.4%). The crosstabulation with chi-square test showed that there was a significant correlation between status of exercise with hypertension incidence (p=0,001). Beside that, unsignificant correlations were shown between frequency of exercise (p=0,068) and duration of exercise (p= 0,710) with hypertension in patients more than 45 years old. From all variables which were studied, only status of exercise that had a significant correlation with hypertension incidence in patients more than 45 years old. Therefore, it is recommended especially for people more than 45 years old to do regular blood pressure check and exercise to reduce the risk of hypertension. Keywords:      hypertension, status of exercise, frequency of exercise, duration of exercise, more than 45 years old

This study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. The sample of study were acceptor living at RW 6 Kalitengah Sidoarjo district and using simple random sampling technique to collect the data. Statistical test using chi square to determine the relationship between variables. The study showed that most of the respondents were aged > 35 years old (62,5%), educated as high as high school (59,7%), were housewife (70,8%). Statistic test using chi square showed that there was relationship between contraception method (p = 0.0098) and the duration of contraception usage (p = 0.012) with subjective health complaints. Hormonal contraceptive methods may increase the risk of 4,05 times to experience subjective health complaints compared with respondents who use non-hormonal contraception. Respondents with long ≤ 5 years of contraceptive use may increase the risk of 7,82 times to experience subjective health complaints compared with respondents who used the contraceptive for > 5 years. Data are presented analytically-observational then analyzed to determine the association strong and big risks Odds Ratio (OR) with 95% Cl. The results showed that age has a strong association with the physical fitness of 0.732 and at the age of 18-35 years at risk 42 times fitter than age> 35-45 years, supplements consumption has a very weak association with thephysical fitness of 0,018 and at the athlete who supplements consumption at risk 1,08 times fitter than who did not supplements consumption,BMI status has a strong association with the physical fitness of 0,548 and the normal BMI status risk 13.2 times more fit than obese BMI status. The conclusion that age and BMI status have a strong association with physical fitness and supplements consumption has a very weak association with physical fitness. Efforts need to be done for the football club Kramayudha is to be expected that the recruitment of players aged between 18-35 and had a normal BMI status in order to contribute to the achievement of the team. Keywords: usia, BMI status, football

Abstract

Infant Mortality Rate in Lumajang was always higher than the infant mortality rate in East Java Province. Ranuyoso is a region with the highest infant mortality rate and AKABA in 2013 and 2014, with 33 and 22 deaths. The Government had implemented a program to improve the health and the consolidation scope is monitored by the Pemantauan Wilayah Setempat Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (PWS KIA). PWS KIA had not been going well according to its purpose as a tool for monitoring the KIA service coverage to increase the range and quality of KIA services. The purpose of this research was to describe the implementation of PWS KIA for indicators of child in Health Center of Ranuyoso which based on attributes of simplicity, acceptability, sensitivity, representativeness, data quality, timeliness and stability. This research used descriptive method evaluative with coordinator midwife, midwives health center and eight village midwives as the respondent. Description based on the attributes of surveillance system showed that PWS KIA indicator of child in Health Center of Ranuyoso was not simple, sensitive but not supported well by the midwives, the data were less quality, not timely and unstable. Alternative solutions to problems that had been found were to performing the advanced analysis to determine the causality amount variables by midwives, holding routine supervision from the senior midwives, procurement of SOP or guidebook for midwives, and computerizing the recording until reporting start from village midwives, also the making of the attendance and expeditions book to record the reporting date of midwives. Keywords: MCTS, attributes surveillance, child health monitoring
