Abstract

This research wants to identify the impact of tourism activity on agricultural land use changes in Ubud, Gianyar, Bali. Components of this study consists of four main elements, namely the development of tourism activities in Ubud, physical development that occurs as a result of tourism activities, the spatial pattern of agricultural land use changes that occur as a result of their physical development related to the tourism sector and the impacts that comes from agricultural land use change in Ubud. Tourism industry in Ubud give two different impacts on the society, in on one hand they give a benefit to some people, especially to people who have their business in tourism industry, but in other hand, tourism activities give negative impacts for those who do not live in tourism industry. So in this research, it will identify what is the impact on the social side and why this condition is happening.

Abstract

Despite some physical similarities with the typology of gated housings developing in Metropolitan of Jakarta, there is uniqueness in gated housings growing in Bandung, especially in its peri-urban area. The uniqueness is the development of tourism activities inside those gated housing. A number of luxury residential complexes with gated characteristics in the peri-urban areas of Bandung have transformed into tourism areas. This phenomenon is interesting to study given the contrasted characteristics between gated housing and tourism. this paper discusses a number of case studies on tourism activities and facilities developing inside gated housings in peri-urban of Bandung. The research method used qualitative descriptive analysis and typo-morphology analysis. The study results have shown a number of unique typo-morphology of tourism facilities inside gated housings in the peri-urban area of Bandung as well as a number of their physical and operational characteristics differences from other tourism facilities in general. Gated housing itself is closely related to segregation. The results of this study have also indicated that the presence of tourism activities in gated housings as well as a number of local creative strategies applied by the management of the tourism facilities could become one of the solutions to minimize the extent of segregation posed by the gated housings and to improve the physical quality of the gated housing where the tourism facilities are located.Keywords: gated housing; peri-urban of Bandung; typology; transformation; tourism

Abstract

Adventure activities are commonly associated with risky activities. The affiliation between adventure tourism and risk has made adventure tourism experience distinct from other tourism subset. Therefore risk plays a role as motivation factor for adventure tourists’ to participate in adventure activities. However, different study mentioned that adventure tourist’s unwillingness to be the subject of actual risk also provide a different view on risk role in adventure tourism. This research aims to investigate the role of risk for adventure tourists’ motivation to engage with adventure tourism. This study uses quantitative research methods to achieve its aim. The data was gathered using a self-completion questionnaire, which targeted adventure tourists through the internet. This questionnaire was posted to several adventure-affiliated groups found in social network for foreseeable time and able to get reasonable amount of responds from intended target. The findings confirm that risk affiliation with adventure tourism activities exists through tourism perspective. The findings also confirm that risk is part of tourists’ motivation to take part in adventure, hence describe role of risk in adventure activities

Abstract

This paper seeks to review the enablers for the Travel & Tourism (T&T) industry in India and to rank these factors. The paper aims to introduce a fuzzy TOPSIS approach for this purpose. The paper begins with a literature review to investigate the significant enablers in the T&T sector. The research was conducted among the tourists in the northern state of Uttarakhand, India which is a famous tourist destination both for adventure and pilgrimage. Fuzzy TOPSIS approach is used to meet the objectives of the study. Required information was gathered through a questionnaire. The results show that Safety & Security, Price, Transport and Infrastructure are the most important factors in Indian context.The paper will be helpful in enabling the T&T industry policy makers to identify the key service factors in the sector and take the improvement measuresThe concept of ranking T&T enablers using a Fuzzy TOPSIS is a new approach. The study is the unique application of a fuzzy approach to examine and rank customer expectations of the T&T enablers in Indian context.

Abstract

Bandung Regency has characteristic of tourism products which are dominated by mountains, crater, lake, and plantation. Special treatment is required, because of some area is a conservation area, one of which is a geological site the Lembang Fault.  This article is using mix method approach between qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative approach is used to describe the supply and spatial analysis. Spatial analysis helps to analyse the topography of the area, land use, and prone of land movement areas. Thereafter, the result is synthesized by using ArcGIS 10.2 software to find out the most suitable and not in the study area, to determine the zonation planning. Meanwhile, quantitative approach is used for demand analysis by processing the visitor questionnaires data.
