Analisis kesalahan ejaan, sintaksis, dan persepsi terhadap Indonesia pada naskah mini project mahasiswa Tionghoa

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia pada aspek ejaan dan sintaksis serta persepsi terhadap Indonesia dalam naskah mini project  mahasiswa Tionghoa. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 13 naskah mini project mahasiswa Tionghoa di Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis isi yang meliputi tahap (1) unitizing, (2) sampling, (3) recording/coding, (4) reducing data, (5) inferring, dan (6) narrating. Hasil penelitian, pertama menunjukkan terdapat kesalahan pada tataran ejaan meliputi (1) kesalahan pemakaian huruf sebanyak 1162 kesalahan, (2) kesalahan penulisan kata sebanyak 122 kesalahan, (3) kesalahan pemakaian tanda baca sebanyak 57, dan (4) kesalahan penulisan unsur serapan sebanyak 36. Total kesalahan ejaan adalah 1337 kesalahan atau 5,26%. Kedua, kesalahan pada tataran sintaksis, meliputi (1) kesalahan subjek sebanyak 103 kesalahan, (2) kesalahan predikat sebanyak 17 kesalahan, (3) kesalahan objek sebanyak 8 kesalahan, (4) kesalahan keterangan sebanyak 1 kesalahan, dan kesalahan pelengkap sebanyak 4 kesalahan. Total kesalahan sintaksis adalah 133 kesalahan atau 45,47%. Ketiga, persepsi mahasiswa Tionghoa terhadap Indonesia meliputi 10 hal, tiga hal yang dominan yaitu (1) stereotip masyarakat Tionghoa terhadap Indonesia, (2) mispersepsi terhadap budaya Indonesia, (3) kebijakan pemerintah Indonesia yang tidak konsisten di berbagai bidang seperti ekonomi, sosial, politik, dan pendidikan. The spelling mistakes, syntax, and perception to indonesia manuscript of Chinese mini project AbstractThis study aimned to describe the mistakes of Indonesian language used in the spelling, syntax and perception to Indonesian manuscript of Chinese Mini Project students. This study applied the descriptive qualitative. The research subject was 13 manuscripts of Chinese mini project students at Art and Language Faculty of Yogyakarta State University. The data was collected by the documentation technique. The data analysis technique was content analysis technique which were (1) unitizing, (2) sampling, (3) recording/coding, (4) reducing data, (5) inferring, and (6) narrating. The results of the research were described as follows. First, there were some mistakes in the spelling, (1) including 1162 mistakes of letter use, (2) 122 writing mistakes, (3) mistakes of punctuation use, and (4) 36 applied mistakes. The sum of spelling mistakes were 1337 or 5.26% mistakes. Second, the mistakes of syntax were described as follows. (1) There were 103subject mistakes, (2) 17 verb mistakes, (3) 8 object mistakes, (4) 1 note mistake and there were 4 complement mistakes. The sum of syntax mistakes were 133 or 45.47% mistakes. Third, Chinese students’ perception to Indonesia was described as follows: 10 perception, three dominant of which were (1) Chinese stereotype to Indonesia, (2) misperception to Indonesian culture, (3) the unstable policy of Indonesian government in the economic, social, politic and education fields.

An analysis and evaluation of two english textbooks for second graders of junior high school

Abstract

This study aimed at: (1) discovering the textbooks quality based on the criteria from some ELT experts and Pusat Perbukuan, and (2) identifying the strengths and weaknesses of students’ textbooks entitled When English Rings a Bell and Bright for Grade VIII. The data were collected using checklists which were distributed to two English teachers and the researcher. The scores then were accumulated to find the average and after that the final score was rated using the category from Pusat Perbukuan and ELT experts. The results showed that When English Rings a Bell has fulfilled the criteria of a fair textbook (78.6%). The book has some strengths and weaknesses, such as providing materials covering the local culture, lacking some retention, and the like. Meanwhile, Bright has fulfilled the criteria of a good textbook (87.2%) with some strengths and weaknesses, such as providing materials containing target culture, lacking materials containing local culture.

Abstract

The present study was aimed at describing the translation techniques used by the translator in the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism written by Erik Prasetya & Ayu Utami. Descriptive qualitative approach was employed through collecting the data related to the concerned and researched problems. The theory of translation technique suggested by Molina and Albir became the reference to classify the translation techniques used in the translation of the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism. Document analysis and literature review were employed to collect the data. The analysis results indicated that there were 15 types of translation techniques used from 18 ones as what is suggested by Molina and Albir. The five most widely used techniques of translation techniques in the books of Banal Aesthetics & Critical Spiritualism were: literal translation (33, 46%), modulation (14.96%), reduction (14.56%), established equivalent (11.02%), and borrowing (9.84%). Meanwhile, three translation techniques that were not used are: calque, substitution, and variation.

Code switching and code mixing in English learning process

Abstract

The research was conducted in order to describe the types and factors of code-switching and code-mixing in the learning process. The research was a descriptive qualitative investigation using the case study method. The aim was to analyze the types and factors that caused code-switching and code-mixing. Then, the research subjects were three English teachers who taught Grade XI. In gathering the data, there were five classes that should be observed and the necessary data were gathered through recording technique. In the meantime, for validating the results of the analysis an FGD (Focus Group Discussion) should be held. The FGD was conducted in order to identify the answers to the research questions. Next, the results of the study were as follows. First, the types of code-switching were (a) intersentential code-switching, (b) intrasentential code-switching, and (c) tag-switching. On the other hand, the types of code-mixing were (a) alternation code-mixing, (b) insertion code-mixing, and (c) congruent lexicalization. Second, the factors that caused the use of code-switching in the English learning process were text quotation, clarification, and teacher’s instruction. On the other hand, the factors that caused the use of code-mixing were speech habits such as the first language and the second language effects, adversity of finding equivalent words, and people’s impression of the present trends.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan ketepatan indikator dalam kisi-kisi soal, keterwakilan setiap kompetensi dasar dalam kisi-kisi soal, kesesuaian antara kisi-kisi soal dan soal, serta capaian daya serap setiap kompetensi dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif-kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kisi-kisi soal, soal, dan capaian daya serap dari soal uji coba I bahasa Indonesia di SMP kabupaten Wonosobo tahun 2013. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik baca dan catat. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) ketepatan indikator dalam kisi-kisi soal termasuk kategori tepat (86,4%) dengan rincian ketepatan indikator pada kategori sangat tepat sebesar 22%, tepat sebesar 68%, cukup tepat sebesar 8%, kurang tepat sebesar 2%, dan tidak tepat sebesar 0%; (2) keterwakilan setiap kompetensi dasar dalam kisi-kisi soal uji coba I bahasa Indonesia Kabupaten Wonosobo dalam kategori sangat terwakili (96,7%); (3) kesesuaian antara kisi-kisi soal dan soal uji coba I bahasa Indonesia Kabupaten Wonosobo tahun 2013 termasuk kategori sesuai (86%); dan capaian daya serap untuk seluruh kompetensi dasar dalam soal uji coba I bahasa Indonesia Kabupaten Wonosobo tahun 2013 termasuk kategori rendah yaitu sebesar 56,89% dengan rincian capaian pada kategori sangat tinggi sebesar 0%, tinggi sebesar 14%,  sedang sebesar 24%, rendah sebesar 30%, dan sangat rendah sebesar 32%. Kata Kunci: telaah, kisi-kisi soal, soal, daya serap  THE ANALYSIS OF THE FIRST TRY OUT OF INDONESIAN LANGUAGE TEST IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS OF WONOSOBO REGENCY IN 2013 Abstract This study aims to describe the accuracy of the indicators in the table of specifications, the representation of each basic competence in the table of specifications, the compatibility between table of specifications and test items, and the learning outcomes performance of each basic competence of the test items. This research is qualitative-quantitative descriptive. The subjects were the table specifications, test items, and the learning outcomes performance of the first try out of Indonesian language test in junior high schools of Wonosobo regency in 2013. Data were collected through the reading and recording. The results are as follow. (1) the accuracy of the indicators in the table specifications at accurate category (86,4%) within the accuracy of indicators at very good category (22%), good category (68%), medium category (8%), low category (2%), and very low category (0%); (2) the representation of each basic competence in the table specifications at very representive category (96,7%); (3) the compatibility between the table specifications and test items at compatible category (86%); and (4) the learning outcomes performance of all the basic competencies are included in the low category (56,89) within the learning outcomes performances at very good category (0%), good category (14%), medium category (24%), low category (30%), and very low category (32%). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kriteria-kriteria yang digunakan dalam pemilihan cerita anak yang layak sebagai bahan ajar membaca di MTs. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menganalisis cerita anak yang layak sebagai bahan ajar membaca di MTs berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria itu.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah cerita anak yang ada di Buku Sekolah Elektronik, buku bacaan, dan internet. Objek penelitiannya adalah isi cerita. Ada dua puluh cerita anak yang yang dijadikan sampel penelitian. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan membaca dan mencatat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara reduksi, penyajian, dan penyimpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) ada tiga kriteria yang digunakan dalam pemilihan cerita anak yang layak sebagai bahan ajar membaca di MTs. Kriteria-kriteria itu adalah kriteria nilai/moral, motivasi, dan kesesuaian jenis sekolah. (2) Dari dua puluh cerita yang dianalisis, sebelas cerita dinyatakan layak dan sembilan cerita dinyatakan tidak layak dijadikan bahan ajar membaca di MTs. Kata kunci: cerita anak, bahan ajar, membaca   THE SELECTION OF CHILDREN STORIES AS READING TEACHING MATERIAL IN MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH (MTS) Abstract The study aims to describe criteria used in the selection proper children stories as reading teaching material in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). In addition, the study also aims to describe proper children stories as reading teaching material in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) based on the criteria.The study is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the study are children stories in Buku Sekolah Elektronik (BSE), reading book, and internet. The object of the study is the contents of the stories. There are twenty children stories that the research sample. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique. The collection of data is done by reading and writing. Data is analyzed by reduction, presentation, and inference.The results of study showed that (1) there are three criteria used in the selection of children stories as reading teaching material in MTs. The criteria are Value/moral, motivation, and relevant of the type of school. (2) Of the twenty stories analyzed, there are eleven proper stories and nine stories are not proper as reading materials in the MTs. Keywords: children stories, teaching material, reading

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengembangkan media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis komputer untuk keterampilan menyimak yang sesuai bagi siswa SMA kelas X dan (2) mengukur kualitas media pembelajaran hasil pengembangan tersebut ditinjau dari aspek materi, pembelajaran, dan media. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (R & D) dengan mengadaptasi model dan prosedur pengembangan dari Borg & Gall, desain pembelajaran dari Dick & Carey dan prosedur pengembangan software dari Criswell. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas media pembelajaran ditinjau dari aspek materi dinilai baik dengan rata-rata skor sebesar 4,20 ditinjau dari aspek pembelajaran dinilai sangat baik dengan rata-rata skor sebesar 4,28; dan ditinjau dari aspek media dinilai baik dengan rata-rata skor 4,10. Secara keseluruhan, kualitas media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dinilai baik dengan rata-rata skor sebesar 4,19. Kata kunci: media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis komputer, listening  DEVELOPING COMPUTER-BASED ENGLISH INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA FOR LISTENING SKILL AT YEAR-10 OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Abstract This study aims: (1) to develop computer-based English instructional media for listening skill appropriate for at year-10 students of senior high school and (2) to measure the quality of the developed instructional media in terms of the content, instructional and media aspects.This study was categorized as research and development (R & D). The procedure and  the model of R & D cycle used in this study was adapted from Borg & Gall, the instructional design from Dick & Carey and software development procedure from Criswell. The result of the study shows that the quality of instructional media for in terms of the  content aspect, it is categorized good with the mean score of 4.20; in terms of the instructional aspect, it is categorized very good with the mean score of 4.28; and in terms of the media aspect, it is categorized good with the mean score of 4.10. In terms of those three aspetcs, the developed instructional media are categorized good with the mean score of 4.19. Keywords: computer-based  English instructional media, listening.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat keterbacaan wacana dalam buku teks BSE bahasa Indonesia, mendeskripsikan tingkat keterbacaan wacana dalam buku teks NONBSE, dan mendeskripsikan perbedaan tingkat keterbacaan wacana antara buku teks BSE dengan buku teks NONBSE setelah diukur dengan alat ukur uji keterbacaan teknik cloze. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian analisis konten. Menggunakan populasi dan sampel buku dan sekolah. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan mengerjakan lembar jawab tes cloze secara objektif. Teknik analisis data dengan mengoreksi lembar tes cloze. Hasil penelitian ini: (1) persentase rerata skor keterbacaan BSE 1 57,60% dan persentase rerata skor keterbacaan BSE 2 59,64%; (2) persentase rerata skor keterbacaan NONBSE 56,55%; (3) hasil uji keterbacaan wacana pada buku BSE dan NONBSE menunjukkan sama-sama menunjukkan presentase yang berada pada kategori instruksional. Kata Kunci: keterbacaan wacana, teknik cloze   THE READABILITY DISCOURSES IN INDONESIAN LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS GRADE V OF PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN WONOGIRI DISTRICT Abstract This study aims to describe the readability levels of the discourses in electronic school books (ESBs) of the Indonesian language, to describe the readability levels of the discourses in non-electronic school books (NONESBs), and to describe the difference in the readability levels of the discourses between ESBs and NONESBs after they are assessed by the cloze technique as a readability measurement instrument. The type of study was a content analysis. The research population and sample of the book and school.. The data were collected by asking respondents to do the cloze test objectively. They were analyzed by checking the cloze test sheet in accordance with the answer keys for further analysis. The results of the study are as follows. (1) on the ESB 1 produced an average readability score percentage of 57, 60% and on the ESB 2 produced an average readability score percentage of 59, 64%. (2) on the NONESB an average readability score percentage of 56.55%. (3) The result of the readability test of the discourses both on ESBs and NONESB showed the same precentage in the category of instructional. Keywords: readability of discourses, cloze technique

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) mengembangkan bahan ajar yang sesuai untuk keterampilan berbicara bahasa Jepang tingkat menengah dengan mengangkat tema-tema kebudayaan Jepang dan Indonesia, yang memadukan empat keterampilan berbahasa dengan fokus utama pada keterampilan berbicara; (2) mengetahui tingkat kelayakan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan. Prosedur pengembangan produk terdiri dari: (1) pengumpulan data pada survei kebutuhan, (2) perencanaan, (3) pengembangan produk, (4) validasi (uji ahli, uji coba terbatas, uji coba lapangan) dan revisi, dan (5) produk akhir. Bahan ajar terdiri dari lima unit dan disertai VCD. Hasil validasi oleh ahli menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata materi adalah 4.76 dengan kategori ‘sangat baik’ dan nilai rata-rata media adalah 4.31 dengan kategori ‘sangat baik’. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan di dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Kata kunci: bahan ajar berorientasi budaya, keterampilan berbicara, Kaiwa, bahasa Jepang tingkat menengah.  DEVELOPING A CULTURE-ORIENTED JAPANESE LANGUAGE LEARNING MATERIALS FOR SPEAKING SKILL OF INTERMEDIATE KAIWA LESSON Abstract This study aims to: (1) develop appropriate learning materials for intermediate Japanese Language speaking skill by adapting Japanese and Indonesian culture themes, which integrate four language skills focusing on the speaking skill; (2) reveal the properness level of the learning materials. This is a research and development study. The steps of conducting the study were (1) collecting the data on needs analysis, (2) planning, (3) developing the product, (4) validating (expert judgment, preliminary field testing, main field testing) and revising, (5) writing the final draft of the learning materials. The learning materials consist of five units accompanied with a VCD. The result of the expert judgment shows that the material is in the average score of 4.76 which is in the very good category. The result of the expert judgment on the media is in the average score of 4.31 which is in the very good category. The conclusion of this study is that the learning materials are appropriate to be implemented in the learning activities.
