Abstract

Both Syariah Life Insurance and Conventional Insurance basically have the same objective, that is, management or risk-solving. The basic difference between the two only lies on their management. The management of the conventional insurance risk is in the form of transfer risk of the customers to the insurance companies, whereas the Syariah Life Insurance aims at helping each other among the customers and bear the risk together (risk- sharing). Another difference lies on how to manage the components of the insurance product. In this respect, the Syariah Life Insurance embraces Syariah investment system and is free from ribawi, gharar dan maysir. The difference can also be seen from their contract system (akad) that is related to the management of the insurance funding as it is bound to the premium  and profit.

Abstract

The Perspective of al-Qur’an on Slavery: Some Efforts to Combat Slavery in Islam: Men are basically created as the greatest creation in a free and independent condition. It is wrong if men restrict and restrain themselves towards others; moreover, if they worship the creation of God. Therefore, to avoid self-slavery towards human beings or towards disire, things, jobs, women and others, Alqur’an has taught people to worship the only God, the Creator. This is not to say that one has restrained himself towards self-slavery when God is the only One he worships. Indeed, it is by worshiping God that men even free and distance themselves from any forms of slavery.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, quality is an extremely important factor in educational institutions because competition among institutions is factual. In this respect, only institutions of education with quality can exist while others may be left behind and no longer functioning. In this case, the institutions do not determine the education quality but the consumers do. Therefore, it is necessary to think of an Islamic education model.

Abstract

Abstract

In functional, curriculum can not be separated from the two sides that is the science (thus the importance of curriculum renewal, so a curriculum designed to be changed and enhanced to absorb the latest scientific developments) and the moral and ethical values (religion). Although they are different but can not be separated. Even education as a pedagogical effort, it further strengthens the relationship between science (knowledge) and the moral and ethical values. Curriculum as a giver of a clear and definite direction in learning science should be able to realize entanglement with moral and ethical values in teaching Islamic education, in particular. Although it must be recognized that the function of praxis, the curriculum on the moral and ethical values found a difference of opinion, but the urgency of the meaning of moral and ethical values are in the curriculum , either explicitly (external) or implicit (internal), definite or conditional, there was an agreement among educators experts.

Abstract

The rise of  ’ inkar sunnah’ or anti- sunnah  in Malaysia cannot be separated from the role of Kassim Ahmad. His work entitled ”Hadis Satu Penilaian Semula” brought him as the proponent of anti-Sunnah or Hadist in Malaysia. This his controversial work  provoked Moslem scholars in Malaysia from diverse social background opposed   Kassim’s idea. The government’s effort succeeded in eliminating the organization or institution of anti-hadist, but, perhaps, it failed to eradicate its thought. It is not an easy task to predict the future of this idea.
