Abstract

The emergence of social media especially the popularity of Instagram has been used to facilitate people to share their thoughts in public discussion. Comic strip as a work of art which commonly aims as entertainment is also used to promote the value of the author in certain societal issues. Thus, comic strip such as KOSTUM or Komik Strip Untuk Umum (Comic Strip for Public) is using satirical jokes to share the idea of multiculturalism that has been challenged by people who use religious identity, ethnicity and political factions as the thing to differentiate others. Therefore, this paper will try to reveal how this comic strip promotes Indonesian national identity and how the author sees himself as the agent of multiculturalism.

Abstract

This thesis deals with the anxieties experienced by the leaders of superhero teams in Civil War II, Iron Man and Captain Marvel. Through their anxieties in Civil War II, I tried to reveal the causes of their anxieties and their ways to reduce these uneasy feelings. To analyze the causes of these two characters? anxieties, I used two of the theory of anxiety, reality and moral anxiety. I found that there are two causes that make Iron Man feel anxieties which are the reaction of Captain Marvel towards Ulysses? prophecies and his responsibility both as a superhero and as a leader to protect people from the outcome of Ulysses? prophecies. On the other hand, Captain Marvel also feels anxieties from the blame of Iron Man and her responsibility both as a superhero and as a public officer to protect people from dystopian future. Iron Man uses two defense mechanisms, which are splitting and rationalization. On the other hand, Captain Marvel also uses two defense mechanism, which are idealization and rationalization. These defense mechanisms are used by both, Iron Man and Captain Marvel to ease their reality and moral anxiety.

Abstract

This Business Communication Final Project (BCFP) is made for PT. Mandiri Sekuritas, one of the biggest securities company in Indonesia. The background of the study is the fact the most of the Online Service product?s members are passive, or also called as ?sleeping clients?. This problem can affect the AR (Assets Ratio) of the company because they are passive traders. Thus, PT. Mandiri Sekuritas needs to make a promotional video. The video will be uploaded in big websites such as YouTube and e-mail. The video is divided into two parts: The first part is dedicated to the people who are new to stocks and the second part is dedicated to the existing members of Mandiri Sekuritas but rarely do anything with their account. In the video, I highlight two things: the importance of joining stock investment and the importance of being active in stocks trading. By making this video, I want to tell all people especially those who are at young age that investment is important for their future and Mandiri can answer their needs very well. Also, those ?sleeping clients? can realize that being active will bring them many benefits and that the company cares for them.

Abstract

In this study, I observe the way the character in Leila S. Chudori?s, Pulang, preserves his identity in a foreign country. In analyzing the novel, I use the theory of social symbols by George H. Mead. In the analysis, I find that Dimas uses symbols as Indonesians to preserve his identity. By doing so, he gets the acknowledgement by the Indonesian community as a part of its member even though he lives in different nation. This shows Dimas perceives his identity because he is aware that he is part of Indonesian community. As a result, Dimas can preserve his identity as an Indonesian even though he lives far away from Indonesia.
