Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted from January to February 2018 by taking samples of blood cockles from  the coast of Singkep Island, Lingga Regency, Riau Archipelago Province. The purpose of this research were to know the metal concentrations of Pb, Cr, Cu and Zn in different station and different sizes of blood cockle?s shells (Anadara granosa), as well as to find out the level of metal pollution based on MPI (Metal Pollution Index). Analysis of metal concentrations of heavy metal was done by following procedures outlined by Yap et al., (2003). The results showed that the highest metal concenration of Pb was found in medium-size (11.8200 µg/g) at Station 1. Highest concentration of Cr was found in small size (20.5453 µg/g) at Station 1, highest Cu found in small size (18.8987 µg/g) at Station 1, and the highest  Zn was found in large size (48.2413 µg/g) at Station 1. The calculated MPI value for coastal water of Singkep Island from this research was 14.66 which considered as quite high.Key Words: Heavy Metal, Pollution, Riau, Mining, Anadara granosa

Abstract

ASBTRACT The research was aimed to find out the effect of salt addition with different amount to the quality of rebonshrimp paste by looking at organoleptic and proximate values. The method used was an experimental method, with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consists of 3 levels of treatment: 5g of salt (A1), 10g of salt (A2) and 12.5 g of salt (A3). The tested parameters were organoleptic (taste, aroma, consistency, and appearance) and proximate quality (water content, ash content, protein content, pH and fat content). The result of research based on organoleptic and chemical testshowed that the addition 10 g of salt was the best treatment, with taste 6.39 (shrimp taste slightly reduced, less salty), aroma 5.59 (the aroma of small shrimp paste was lacking), concistency 6.39 (thick, homogenous, and soft), appearance 6.63 (darkish brown tends to dull),while the water content28.10%, ash 3.05%, protein 8.78%, pH 7.05, and fat 0.68%. Keywords: small shrimp paste, addition of salt, organoleptic, proximate

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conductedon January 2018 in the village Meskom District Bengkalis Regency Bengkalis and laboratory of fishing gear,Fishery Resources Utilization Department, Faculty ofFisheries and Marine, University of Riau.Thepurpose of this research is todesigning of filter net fishing gear cod end modification of reduction by-catch, so it can know the technology for usingBy-catch Reduction Deviceof filter net fishing gear. The filter net Fishing gear used by fishermen of Meskom in its operation which is the target of catching is shrimp of  Mysis sp(udang pepai), while it caught also the juvennile by-catch. Therefore, to anticipate such a case can be done through modification. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research was conducted on May to July 2017. The purpose of this research was to know the best percentage of fermented feather meal in diet and effect on growth of silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii, Lac) fingerling. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor,five treatment and three replications. The research used fish with initial average weight of 0,9 g. Fish were reared in net cage of 1x1x1 m3with the stocking density of 20 fish/net cage. Treatments with fermented feather meal, P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), P4 (20%). Feed protein content range between 43,94-46,33%. The result show that fermented feather meal give significant effect (P<0,05) on growth, feed efficiency and protein retentions.This result of this study suggest that fermented feather meal can be used as feed material of silver pompano up to 15% from total amount of feed.Keyword:   Bacillus sp., feather meal, fermented,fish feed, silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii, Lac)

Abstract

Abstrac            This research was conducted on october 3rd - November 2nd, 2017 in the technology Aquaculture Laboratory, fisheries and marine faculty, Riau University. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of different salinity for grwoth and survival rate red Nile tilapia using biofloc technology. The method was using the experimental method and completely randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications , the treatments were : amount of salinity 11 ppt, 13 ppt, 15 ppt and 17 ppt. The result showed that there was the effect of different salinity for absolute growth of weight, specific growth rate and feed efficiency, neverthless there was not effect for absolute of length and food convertion ratio. The best treatment was 17 ppt salinities, gave the absolute growth of weight 2,13 g, specific growth rate 3,47 g, absolut of length 1,83 cm, feed efficiency 102,53%, good convertion ratio 0.97% and survival rate 78,33%.Water quality parameters consists of temperature was around 27-31'C, pH 7-8, Dissolved oxygen (DO) 4-7 mg/l, ammoniak 0,06-0,1 mg/l and the best holding capacity was in 17 ppt , approximately 6,3 ml Keyword: salinity, tilapia, bioflock technology

Abstract

ABSTRACTOsteochilus hasselti is found in the Tarai River that has been contaminated with organic pollution and it may affects the reproductive biology of the fish. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology of O. hasselti has been conducted. The fish was sampled 3 times, once/month, from November 2017 to January 2018.  Parameters measured were sex ratio, gonad maturity level, Gonad Somatic Index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Results shown that there was 29 males and 49 females (sex ratio 1:2). Male has slimmer body, brighter color than those of the female. Genital papilla of the male was white, while that of the female was red. Size at maturity level in male ranged from 95 to 170 mm SL, while that of the females was 90 to 190 mm SL. The average GSI of male ranged from 1.61 to 8.51% while that of the females was 1.02 to 11.14%. The average fecundity was 65,451 eggs/female and egg diameter was 0.10 to 1.00 mm. Based on the size of egg diameter can be concluded this fish is total spawner. Keywords: Sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, fecundity, total spawner

Abstract

Abstract The laundry waste is rich in MBAS and phosphate and its need to be processed before being flown to environment. This study aimsto determine the ability of  abatchbiofilter system in reducingthe phosphate and MBAS content. This study has been conducted in January-March 2018.The laundry liquid waste (175 liters) was kept in 2 anaerobik tanks that was completed with gravel, sand and palm fibers media for ten days.Then the waste was flown to aerobik tanks (coconut shellcharcoal media) for seven days. Finallythe wastewas treated in a phytoremediation pondthat was completed withSalvinia molestafor fifteen days. By the end of the experiment, the phosphate reduced from 11.6-0.8 mg/L (the effectiveness was 92.67%)and the MBAS reduced from 10.5-1.3 mg/L (the effectiveness was 87.16%). Other water quality parameters such as pH was normal and temperature and DO were improved. The treated waste was then used for rearing Cyprinus carpio (5-7 cm TL) for 10 days. The survival rate of the fish was 89%. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the combination of biofiters and phytoremediation system using Salvinia molesta is effective to reduce the phosphate and MBAS content in the laundry liquid waste. Keyword:waste water, detergent contaminated waste, bacth system, surfactant

Abstract

 ABSTRACT            This research was conducted on 27 November 2017 to 21 January 2018 which was held in laboratory of Fishery and Marine Fishery Resources Utilization Faculty, University of Riau. The purpose of this research to know the change of physical characteristics of nets yarn of PE (Polyethylene) material with different diameter soaked in sea water and fresh water. The method used in this research the experimental method, the data change of thenets yarn length obtained are processed according to the formula SNI 08-00889-1989 and then analyzed descriptive. From the observation according to SNI 08-0889-1989 that the PEØ 0.5 mm, 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm experience changes the characteristic of the nets yarn after soaked for 50 days in fresh water and sea water.  The change in the length of mesh yarns soaked in sea water influential when compared to soak in fresh water and each diameter experience changes length different.
