Abstract

One of the efforts to increase the production of eggplant in an intensified manner is to balance fertilization. This study aims to determine the effect of giving sago pulp compost with different activators, as well as the best treatment in increasing the growth and production of eggplant. The research was carried out at UPT Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in May to August 2018 experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications. Treatment includes S0 = Without compost, S1 = Sago waste, S2 = Compost sago waste with chicken manure activator, S3 = Compost sago waste with EM4 activator, S4 = Compost sago waste with Trichoderma activator, and S5 = Compost sago waste with Bacillus activator, each of 5 tons.ha-1 or 1,26 kg per 2,52 m2. The observed parameters included total N, total P, total K, pH, organic C, plant height, stem diameter, flowering day, harvest day, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant, and production per plot on eggplant. The results showed that the nutrient content of N, P, K from the compost use each activator results had met the SNI compost quality standard (2004). Sago waste compost fertilizer with activator EM4 has a best chemical content of pH value 7.12, N-total 0.92%, P-total 1.26%, K-total 1.16% and C/N 33.54 and compost was able to increase fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plant and production per eggplant plot. Compost of sago waste with chicken manure activator (5 ton.ha-1) was able to increase the growth of plant height and stem diameter of eggplant.Keywords: Compost, Sago waste, Activator, Eggplant, Quality of compost

Abstract

Shrimp-based agroindustry is one of the efforts made in the Kijang Island District, Reteh District. Shrimp processing agro-industry becomes shrimp amplang crackers, the existence of this agro-industry is expected to improve quality, profitability and added value. The purpose of this study was to analyze the added value of the amplang shrimp cracker agroindustry in Kijang Island Village, Reteh District. The method of taking respondents was carried out in a census where the total population in the Kijang Island District, Reteh Subdistrict, was made as a respondent by 7 business actors in shrimp amplang crackers. The technique of data collection is done by direct interviews with respondents and analysis of data using the Hayami value-added analysis method. The results showed that the profit received from the Amplang shrimp cracker agroindustry business was Rp. 12,471.43 per kg. Shrimp amplang cracker agroindustry added value of Rp. 18,876.10 per kg. The profit obtained in one production process is Rp. 12,471.10 per kg of raw material. And every kilogram of raw material produces a margin of Rp. 18,976.10 consisting of labor income, other input contributions and profits of business actors.Keywords: Agroindustry, Shrimp, Sand, Crackers, Value added

Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition of the best growing media  for the growth and yield of tomato plants withverticultural systems. This research was carried out in the greenhouse of the University of Riau Faculty of Agriculture Experiment station for 4 months starting from October 2017 to January 2018.This study was an experiment using a randomized block design (RBD)consisting of 5 treatments, namelyP1 = Soil  Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (1 : 1 : 1), P2 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (1 : 1 : 2), P3 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS(1 : 2 : 1), P4 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (2 : 1 : 1) and P5 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (2 : 2 : 1).The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, age of first flowers appearance, age of first harvest, number of flowers, number of fruits and weight of fruit.                       The 2 : 1 : 1 Planting media composition cultivated with verticulture system produces fruit weight an average of 286,4 g in tomato plants which tend to be better. Keywords: Tomato plants, composition of planting media, cultivation of verticulture systems.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to estimate the shelf life of wajik that is packed with oil paper and tapioca edible film. Estimation of shelf life using the acceleration method by storing wajik for 30 days at three different temperatures, there are temperatures of 30°C, 35°C, and 40°C. The parameters observed during the storage process were sensory assessments of rancidity and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) values of wajik. Data were analyzed using linear regression and the equations obtained were used to calculate the shelf life of wajik at normal temperature, which is 29°C. The wajik shelf life packed with oil paper based on rancidity sensory test is 29.787 days on the zero order reaction with the regression equation y = -2225.17x + 5.0060, with an activation energy value (Ea) of 4419.188 kal.mol-1, and the value of quality degradation (k) is 0.094 quality unit per day, while the wajik shelf life based on the TBA value test is 27.294 days on the first order reaction with the regression equation y = -3164.10x + 6.7644, with an activation energy value (Ea) of 6283.903 kal.mol-1, and the value of quality degradation (k) is 0.022 quality unit per day. The wajik shelf life packed with tapioca edible film based on rancidity sensory test was 45.455 days on the zero order reaction with the regression equation y = -3444.46x + 8.6946, with an activation energy value (Ea) of 6840.698 kal.mol-1, and the value of quality degradation (k) is 0.066 quality unit per day, the wajik shelf life based on the test TBA value is 32.234 days on the first order reaction with the regression equation y = -1086.80x - 0.0582, with the activation energy value (Ea) of 2158,385 kal.mol-1, and the value of quality degradation (k) is 0.026 quality unit per day. Keywords: Edible film, oil paper, shelf life, wajik.

Abstract

Avocado seed contain amylose which could be raw material of making edible film. However, edible film  was resulted have durability to low water. Therefore, needed add material hidrofobic which would increase of durability to water of edible film one of is beeswax.This research was conducted experimentaly by used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatmens and three replications which followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The treatment in this research were B1 (beeswax 5%), B2 (beeswax 10%), B3 (beeswax 15%), B4 (beeswax 20%) and B5 (beeswax 25%). The results of variance analysis showed that addition of concentrations beeswax gave significantly affect on thickness, solubility, water of uptake and water of transfer edible film. The best formulations was obtained on the edible film with addition 5% beeswax which has thickness of 0.28 mm, solubility of 23.59%, water of uptake 313.35% and water of transfer 0.23 g.m-2.hour. Keywords: avocado seed, edible film, beeswax

Abstract

This research aims to determine the best interaction of high peat groundwater level and giving oil palm empty bunches ash to the growth and production of soybean plants, this research has been conducted in the green house of Agriculture Experimrntal Station Faculty of Agriculture University Riau, from November 2017 untill February 2018. this research was conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) which is consist 2 factors. First factor is the groundwater level (T), 30 cm below the foil surface, 40 cm below the foil surface. Second factor is oil palm empty bunches ash (A) 2,5 ton.Ha-1, 5 ton.Ha-1. The data obtained were analyzed  statistically using analysis of  variance with Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The result showed the interaction of giving oil palm empty bunches ash and groundwater level, significantly affected pH, plant height, effective percentage of root nodules, harvest age, number of planting pods, dry seed weight, weight of 100 seeds, percentage of pods, and root length. And had no significant effect to other parameters. The combination of giving oil palm empty bunches ash 5 ton.Ha-1 and 30 cm below the foil surface  gave the best results on parameters of plant height (92,96 cm), number of pods per plant (79,16 pods), dry seed weight of crop (12,07 g), percentage of pods (71,33%) and weight of 100 seeds (9, 44 g).Keywords: Groundwater level, oil palm empty bunches (ATKKS), peat soil, soybean (Glycine max L.)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of husk and cocopeat charcoal planting medium, liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on banana peel waste and the interaction between planting medium and POC on banana peel waste on the growth and production of tomato plants cultivated in hydroponic substrates. Dosen Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau JOM Faperta UR Vol. 6 Edisi 1 Januari s/d Juni 2019 research was conducted at the experimental field of Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau from August 2017 to January 2018 using factorial randomized complete design (CRD). The first factor was the planting medium consisting of two levels, husk charcoal (M1) and cocopeat (M2). The second factor was four concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer from banana peel waste consisting, without the administration of liquid organic fertilizer banana peel waste (P0), 2 ml.l-1 water (P1), 4 ml.l-1 water (P2) and 6 ml.l-1 water (P3). The parameters observed were plant height, day of flowering, number of flowers, percentage of fruit formation, day of first harvest, number of fruits per plant, total weight of fruit per plant and weight per fruit. The results showed that there was no interaction between the planting medium and the POC of banana peel waste as well as the single factor of POC peel waste waste on all observed treatments. The treatment of planting medium had a significant effect on all parameters observed except the percentage of fruit formation, age of first harvest, and weight per fruit. The use of husk charcoal medium produced higher plants with higher number of flowers, higher fruit weight and total fruit weight per plant compared to the use of cocopeat planting medium in the production of hydroponic substrate tomato plants. Abstract

 This research purpose to analyze the structure, behavior, and appearance of sago commodity in Sungai Tohor village, Tebing Tinggi Timur regency. Research conducted using the method of the survey. Respondents made up of farmers and the entire marketing agencies involved in commodity Commerce of Sago. Determination of the samples of farmers using simple random sampling method, while for merchants using the method of census. The data analysis done in a descriptive and quantitative. The structure of the market are identified through amount of market participants, the obstacles out of market entry, the concentration ratio, market share and the herfindahl index. The behavior of the market is seen through the practice of the establishment of price, correlation of price and price transmission. The appearance of the market observed from the margins of marketing. Market structure including the oligopsony, seen from the amount the seller more than a buyer, and the existence of barriers to market in or out. The value of the present market share traders gatherers ranged from 0.09-0.12, while the present major traders of 1. Herfindahl index value present merchant gatherers of 0.01. While in major merchant level of 1. Analysis of market behavior suggests that the end consumer (merchants) is the dominant part in the determination of price. The commodity price levels in sago farmers correlated strongly with the price at the level of the final consumer. Price transmission elasticity value is < 1. Average marketing margin commodities sago is Rp 1,057,-/kg. Types of commodity markets sago in the village of Sungai Tohor is oligopsony. Abstract

This research aims to find out the effect of phosphorus fertilizer doses at various concentrations of gibberellins, gibberellin concentration on various doses of phosphorus, the main effects of phosphorus fertilizer and gibberellin which is better for growth and the yield of eggplant plants. The research was conducted at the UPT of the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas RiauPekanbaru starting from January to April 2018 was experimentally arranged in divided plot design using arandomized block design. The main plot is the gibberellin concentration (0, 5, 10 and 15) ppm. The sub plot is the dose of phosphorus fertilizer (92, 138 and 184)kg of P2O5ha-1. The parameters observed: plant height, days to flowering, amount of flowers per plant, harvesting day, amount of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter and fruit weight per plant. The combinationtreatment phosphorus 184 kg P2O5.ha-1 and giberellin of 15 ppm is better on plant height, days to flowering, amount of flowers and harvesting age. The treatment 92 kg of P2O5.ha-1 and without being given giberellin can increasebetter on the amountof fruits and fruit weight. The treatmentphosphorus at the dose of 92 kg P2O5ha-1 produced the better amount of fruits and fruit weights. The treatment of without gibberellin increased the amount of fruits and the better fruit weight until 90 days of planting. Key words: eggplant plant, phosphorus fertilizer and gibberellins.

PENGUJIAN PUPUK DAUN DENGAN GIBERELIN PADA BIBIT KELAPA SAWIT (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) YANG MENGALAMI GENANGAN AIR

Abstract

This research aims to improve the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Which are continuous puddles for 30 days by planting together with giberelin growth regulators. The study was conducted in the Riau Faculty's lithology garden from August to December 2017, in the form of plot design experiments divided by random patterns repeated three times. Main plot: leaf fertilizer concentration (D), consisting of d0: without leaf fertilizer (0 ppm), d1: 1,500 ppm, d2: 3,000 ppm. Subplots in the form of gibberellin concentration (G), consisting of g0: without giberelin (0 ppm), g1: 15,000 ppm, g2: 30,000 ppm. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaf midribs, tuber diameter, number of adventitious roots, root volume, root canopy ratio, seed dry weight and seed quality index. The results showed that there was no interaction between leaf fertilizer concentration and gibberellin concentration on the growth component of oil palm seedlings which were harvested for 30 days continuously by air inundation. The height of the oil palm seedlings which ignite the inundation continuously for 30 days can be increased as high as 7.47 cm with the administration of giberellin, but cannot improve on other growth components. The application of leaf fertilizer cannot be used to repair oil palm growth with 30 days of inundation, even increasing seed dry weight 47.40 g. Palm oil seedlings that are prolonged stressed inundation, initiate adventitious plant formation. Keywords: Palm oil seedlings, waterlogging stress, foliar fertilizer and gibberellin.
