Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to explain the effectiveness of counseling for working parent to improve the quality of childs learning guidance. The research is conducted for M by reason of her demanding working schedule. Moreover, M holds the responsibility for guiding her child in studying. M tends to show aggressive behavior (threaten, frighten, snarl) when guiding her child’s studying. The intervention which is chosen is counseling aiming for giving insight to M in terms of her and her child’s condition, as well as providing correction for her misbehavior, when conducting guidance in her child’s studying. Thus it is expected to be able to change M’s attitude and behavior for the quality improvement of study guidance. The design of research is case study with single case. Based on the research, it is explained that the subject is aware of her and her child’s condition when conducting the guidance and realizes that her attitude and behavior in conducting the guidance is not appropriate. However, the subject does not have a will to change her aggression properly. Keyword: Working Parent, Counseling, Guidance

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to assess the effect of goal setting types (performance goals, learning goals and do your best goals) on the students’ performance of English language by making self-efficacy and students prior ability as co-variables. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental method and consist of  three groups in which each would receive different treatment (learning goals, performance goals and do your best goal). Students’ performance of English language as measured by performance tests using the English language, self-efficacy was measured using self-efficacy scale and the prior ability of students is obtained from the result of English lesson in last assignment in class XI of 2nd semester. Subjects in this study amounted to 91 students a class XII of senior high school “xxx” in Yogyakarta. Analysis of the data used analysis of covariance (Ancova) and comparison analysis used analysis of variance (Anova). The result of data analysis by using Ancova with one tail shows that the hypothesis is proven, with F = 2,846 and p = 0.032 (p < 0,05). The result indicates that there is a performance difference of the English language between types of goal-setting. LSD result indicates that differences in the performance of English language only occur between a given learning goals with performance goals with MD = 1,974 and p = 0,019 (p < 0,05). Adjusted R Squared by co-variable (self-efficacy and prior ability) showed a higher result (24.3%) than those that were not using co-variable (7.3%). This is due to influence from both co-variables, i.e. self-efficacy (F = 4,124 & p = 0,045 (p < 0,05)) and the prior ability of students (F = 10.350 and p = 0.002 (p < 0,01)), on the students’ performance of English language. These results indicate that in the application of goal setting’s techniques on the performance of the English language, it is needed to involve self efficacy and the students prior ability in order to enhancing better results. Key words: Types of goal setting, learning goals, performance goals, do your best goals, self-efficacy and students prior ability.

Abstract

Abstract This article is  a study meta analysis of the experimental literature that has examined the effect of rehearsal strategy to improve short-term memory. It reviewed 59 studies from 13 journals. The population are 1341 people with  down syndrome and  children with specifict language impairmen, who included in  special school and mainstream school, and 3487 students  and graduated students. The meta analysis shows that strategy rehearsal have moderate impact on short-term memory on  individu with down syndrome  and  children with specifict language impairment, but rehearsal strategy didn’t have strong correlation with short-term memory on student and graduated student. Abstract

This study was to determine the relationship between Multiple Intelligence with Class XI student achievement in SMAN 10 Malang. The sample is 105 student, with Proportional Random Sampling technique. The instrument for collecting data is method of scale. To determine relationship of the variable X (Linguistic Intelligence, Logic-Mathematic Intelligence, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence, naturalistic Intelligence, Musical Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence) to variable Y (B.Indonesia, B.Inggris, Mathematics, Physical Education and Health , Biology, Art and Culture, Citizenship) used multiple correlation. Linguistic analysis of test-B.Indonesia obtained r = -0.065 with ρ = 0.516; Linguistic-B.Inggris r = -0.049 with ρ = 0.627; LogicMathematic-Mathematics r = 0.014 with ρ = 0.879; Kinethetic-Physical r = -0.011 with ρ = 0.905; naturalistic-r = -0.191 Biology with r2 = 0.036 and ρ = 0.048; Musical Art-r = 0.062 with ρ = 0.536; Interpersonal, Citizenship r = 0.116 with ρ = 0.236. Linguistic Intelligence is not correlate with the subjects of English Language and Indonesia language, Logic-Mathematic Intelligence is not correlate with the subjects of Mathematics, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence is not correlate with the subjects of Physical Education and Health, Musical Intelligence is not correlate with the subjects of Arts and Education Culture, Interpersonal Intelligence is not correlate with the subjects of Citizenship, while naturalistic Intelligence correlate with the subjects of Biology with a negative correlation. This means that the higher score of naturalistic Intelligence so the achievement scores of Biology to be lower. Naturalistic intelligence contributed only 3.6% to the Biology achievement score tets.   Keywords : Multiple Intelligence, Academic Achievement

Students who are actively involved in UKM Kerohanian is called activist of UKM Kerohanian. This study title is Achievement Motivation Differences between student activists and non-activist UKM Kerohanian at the Merdeka University of Malang. The variables in this study was achievement motivation as the dependent variable, activist and non activist UKM Kerohanian as independent variables. The hypothesis of this study were that there are differences of achievement motivation between student activists and non-activists UKM Kerohanian at Merdeka University of Malang. The sample of this study were activists student of UKM Kerohanian and non-activist UKM Kerohanian, and the total were 84 people. The sampling technique in this research using purposive sampling technique. Methods of data collection in this study using a scale of achievement motivation with a high of 72 aitem. The results of testing the validity of using the formula of Pearson product moment correlation for the scale of achievement motivation showed that there are 15 aitem aitem fall and there were 57 valid by a correlation coefficient moves from 0.218 to 0.707. Reliability Test Results using the formula shown alpha cronbach, alpha value were 0.934. This indicated that the scale of measurement or research instrument for the study variables have been reliable. The results of data analysis using the T-Test showed that the t-count of 2.987 with a significance level of 0.004, so the hypothesis have been accepted, that there are differences in achievement motivation between student activists and nonactivists UKM Kerohanian at Merdeka University of Malang.
