Abstract

The general objectives of this study are to describe mathematicslearning management at National Standard School of Junior HighSchool 1 Karangkobar Banjarnegara. Then, the specific objectives areto describe the characteristics of its (1) room and media, (2) materialand (3) mathematics learning interaction. This qualitative researchuses observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation forcollecting the data. Informants are from mathematics teachers,teachers who like and dislike mathematics, and the students. Data areanalyzed by using single site in the frame of flow method qualitativeanalysis. Method and source triangulation are used to measure the datavalidity.The results show (1) room management creates effective andproductive mathematics learning and media management increasesmotivation and concept understanding, (2) holistically learningmaterial management results optimal learning outcome and variationin learning material develops the reflective thinking of students, (3)interaction management makes the learning process lively and happilyand finally the goals are reached.Keywords: management, space, media, learning material, interaction

Abstract

The research aimed at 1) producing teaching documents of mathematics byusing ms.excel based problem solving method on the linear equivalencematerial; 2) describing the prcticality of the document usage; 3) measuring theeffectivenessof ms. Excel based problem solving method. This research usedthe plomp development model consisting of investigation phase, realizationphase, test phase, evaluation and revision, and implementation phase. Theteaching documents developed were syllabus, lesson plan and module had beenvalidated and examined. The subjects of research were the 6th semesterstudents of mathematics education of Teachers Training and Education Facultyof Pancasakti University. By using cluster sampling there were 2 classes out of4 classes used as the participants. The first class, VIB was used as theexperiment class and the other, VID, was used as the control class. The datawere collected through the use of documentation, observation, questionairesand test and then they were analyzed by using T-one sample. The resultsshowed that the teaching documents developed had fullfilled the criteria ofgood documents as it was reflected by (1) the validation of experts, achievingthe score of 3,5 which means the teaching documents were valid, (2) theobservation results of lectures’abilities in managing the class got the score 3,04and the student’s responser were high, and 3) the effectiveness of the teachingand learning shown by the average test score on problem solving 72,8, a higherscore than the minimum score 70.Key Word :document development, problem solving, solution of linearequivalence system.

Abstract

The research was aimed at first investigating the problem solving ofstudents who were taught with the CIRC method especially within thematerial of quadrilateral, and second investigating wether the studentscould reach the competence expected. The results of the researchshowed that the students taught with CIRC model were better inachieving in competence. In conclusion this model of teaching could beused to improve student’s problem solving skills both for the material ofquadrilateral and for other materials having similiar characteristics.Key Word : CIRC type of cooperative learning model, problem solvingskill.

Abstract

This studyaims to determineanddescribeand evaluate:1)Implementation ofthe School Based Curriculum (SBC) in Junior High School in Pekalonganfromthe context, input,process,andproduct;2)the obstacles facedby schools inimplementation of School Based Curriculum (SBC) in junior High School inPekalongan.From 35Junior high schools in Pekalongan, 10 (ten)schools was taken as the samplein this study using multistagesampling technique.Data analysistechniquesused weredescriptive statisticsforthe primary data(quantitative)andqualitative for secondary data.This studyshowsthat:1)viewed from8national education standards, the implementation of School Based Curriculum (SBC)in Junior High School inPekalongan fall into thecategory of"good",with a meanscore 1.070;2)the impact ofSBConthe Education Quality of junior high school inPekalonganfrom the National ExaminationandFinal Examinationschoolscan not beconcludedbecause most schools stilladopt thecurriculumissued byBSNP;3)Constraints faced by schools inimplementing thecurriculumin junior high school in Pekalonganare:(1)the schoolshave not beenable to performcontextanalysis,analysisofopportunitiesand challenges optimally,(2)the schoolautonomyis low,(3)the schools have not beenable toconductself-evaluationbased on thecondition of the existing schools,(4)the meansand infrastructure to supportthe implementation of thecurriculumare still inadequate, especiallyin private schools,(5)manyteachers arestillteaching insome schoolsso that they can notfocuson school development,(6)the ability of teachersin preparinganddevelopingassessment instruments are low. Abstract

In order to help the matheatics department of teacher’s training and education Faculty of pekalongan University in applying the competence based curiculum the writer designed a teaching method based on SCL, constructivism, and andragogy in May the 1st 2011. This model was named GARUDA which was the softened form of goal setting, andragogy, responsible for the job, understand the material, diciplinary learning and achive learning. The main objective of GARUDA was to make the learners able to master each competence stated in each lecture, so that they can be human investment and not merely human capital.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to describe the differences betweenRealisticMathematicsEducation and Mechanisticlearning approachin mathematics achievementviewed from students’ activity. The research was a quasi experimental. The population of the research was all the seventh grade students of junior high schoolin Pekalongan regency. The instruments used to collect the data were achievment on quadrilateral topic and questionnare of the students activity in learning mathematics. To analyze the data, the researcher used anova (analysis of variances) with unbalanced cells. It was concluded that Realistic MathematicsEducation gave a betterresult than Mechanistic learning approachon quadrilateraltopic and the students mathematics achievement for the students that high activity was better than those who had a moderate and low activity, whereas the studentsmathematicsachievement that had a moderate activity was equivalence to the students who had a low activity.Keywords: Realistic Mathematics Education, quadrilateral, learning activity

Abstract

This study aimed to: improve the activity and learning outcomes of studentsgraders XI MA Tholabuddin Masin Warungasem on materials Trigonometry. This study is a Classroom Action Research consist of pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II. The mean of test scores of pre-cycle 6,29. Students who get grades below 6,1 by 11 people or 45,83%. The results of this study have not been satisfaction and more than 50% of students who have not been thoroughly studied. The facts show that the students gradersXI can not solve the given problem good, less willing to perform in front of the class, ask the teacher more less active, and unwilling to share their ideas. Therefore, to improve the activity and learning outcomes need to be applied model of cooperative learning type STAD.The results at cycle I show that mean the interaction of students 68,35% which the interaction of students with the teacher65,42% and interactions between each students 71,28%. The mean of test quiz is6,83. There are 3 groups as Good team, and 3 groups as Great Team. The mean of thetest evaluation 6,94 with 70,83% completeness. The results of the reflection on cycle I still need the cycle process to show that the activity and learning outcomes improve as expected.The results at cicle II show that mean the interaction of students is 80,03% has achieved successfully which the interaction of students with teacher 78,96% and the interaction between students 81,10%. The mean of test quiz 8,04 with 3 groups as Good Team, and 3 groups as Great Team. The mean of test evaluation7,95 with 87,5% completeness. The results of the reflection on cycle II show that the activity and learning outcomes of students with models of type STAD improves as expected.The results of calculation the response to the questionnaire that 89,59% of students satisfied with the cooperation in cooperative learning type STAD, 70,84% students brave to ask and respond the opinion, 83,34% students happy with the group award.Students clear with the material that has been delivered as much as 70,83%. Studentss are more motivated to learn as much as 87,5%. Students are satisfied with the quiz as much as 77,47%. Students are pleased with the presentations in class as much as 58,34%, and students are more appreciative of other student´s opinions as much as 62,5%. It can be concluded that the learning of mathematics by using cooperative learning type STAD, activities and student learning outcomes can be improved or higher.Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Kooperatif, STAD, Aktivitas, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) whether or not the problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than that with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps; (2) whether or not the students with the high creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the medium creativity and whether or not the students with the medium creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with low creativity; (3) which of the students with the high creativity, those with the medium creativity, and those with the low creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics when the problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps is given; (4) which of the students with the high creativity, those with the medium creativity, and those with the low creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics when the problem-based learning model with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps is given; (5) which of the problem-based learning models each with the Polya-based solution steps and with the Krulik Rudnick solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics for the students with the high creativity; (6) which of the problem-based learning models each with the Polya-based solution steps and with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics for the students with the medium creativity; (7) which of the problem-based learning models each with the Polya-based solution steps and with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics for the students with the low creativity.This research used the quasi-experiment research with the factorial design of 2 x 3. The population of the research was the 4th-grade students of State Primary Schools in Bojong Sub-district, Tegal regency in the academic year of 2010/2011, which were 31 in the number of schools. The sampling was conducted by using the technique of stratified cluster random sampling. The samples in this research consisted of 212 respondents. The data were gathered through the instruments of learning achievement test in Mathematics and questionnaire on the students’ creativity level. Prior to their usefor gathering data, those instruments were tested. The validation of the test and questionnaire instruments was conducted by a competent person in validation, the reliability of the test was verified by using the KR-20 formula and the reliability of the questionnaire was verified by using the Alpha formula. In the prerequisite test on Analysis of Variance the Lilliefors test was used to verify the normality test while the Barlett test was used to verify the homogeneity test. With (α) = 0.05 the samples were obtained out of the population with normal and homogeneous distribution.The results of this research are as follows: (1) that the problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics that that with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps; (2) that there is no difference in the learning achievement in Mathematics among the students with the high, medium, and low creativities; (3) that the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high creativity is equal to either that of those with the medium creativity or that of those with the low creativitywhen the problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps is given; (4) that the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high creativity is equal to either that of those with the medium creativity or that of those with the low creativity when the problem-based learning model with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps is given; (5) that the use of problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps results in an equally good learning achievement in Mathematics to the use of that with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps among the students with the high creativity; (6) that the use of problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps results in an equally good learning achievement in Mathematics to the use of that with the Krulik-Rudnick-based solution steps among the students with the medium creativity; (7) that the use of problem-based learning model with the Polya-based solution steps results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the use of that with the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps.Keywords: problem-based learning model, the Polya-based solution steps, the Krulik Rudnick-based solution steps, the students’ creativities

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: whether the communication and problem solving skills have a positive influence on student learning outcomes, especially in solving math problems and if there is how much of influence. The variables of this research are communication skills (X1), problem solving skills (X2) and student learning outcomes (Y). The research process was conducted in 3 stages, first to investigate the influence of communication and problem solving skills againts on student learning outcomes, both to investigate the influence of communication skills on learning outcomes and three to investigate the influence of problem-solving skills of students’ learning outcomes. The results of this research are as follows: from the calculation of data obtained regression equations are , dual correlation coefficients X1 and X2 of Y is 0,567 with a coefficient of determination 0,322. Parsil correlation coefficient between Y and X1 with regard X2 to the rates fixed are 0,324 with a coefficient of determination 0,104 and parsil correlation coefficient between Y and X1 with regard X2 to the rates fixed are 0,166 with a coefficient of determination 0,028. Conclusions is that there are influence of communication and problem solving skills simultaneously against student learning outcomes is equal to 32.2%, while the influence of the communication skills of student learning outcomes are 10,4% and the influence of problem-solving skiils of the student learning outcomes at 2,8%. Therefore, in learning mathematics material fractions, teachers are advised to use RME learning to improve students’ activeness in solving math problems so can improve communication and problem-solving skills, which in turn can improve student learning outcomes.   Key words: Communication and Problem Solving Skills, RME Learning, Learning Outcomes, Fraction.
