Abstract

Abstract. This study aimed to describe the process and to develop analytical thinking ability instruments referring to the Thiagarajan Model known as the Four-D Model (Model 4-D). The Thiagarajan Model consists of four stages: define, planning, design, and disseminate stages. Data analysis consisted of instrument validation analysis, instrument reliability, practicality and effectiveness of instruments and analysis of teacher response data on the results of instrument development. Based on the results of the analysis, the instrument developed reached high level of instrument validation by experts with a validity coefficient of 0.748 and high level of instrument reliability with a reliability coefficient of 0.78. In addition, the degree of practicality was in the high category with a degree of coefficient (IP) = 4. It also reached high degree of effectiveness with a degree of coefficient (IE) = 4.6. The teacher's response to the development of the instrument was very good with a teacher response of 90%. Keywords: Analytical thinking skills, problem solving questions

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research to describe the creative thinking process of students in solving SPLDV subject matter questions based on Wallas stages in terms of learning styles. The subjects of this study is class VIIIA students as many as 30 students  at SMPN 1 Arjasa , then taken as many as 2 students from each learning style to analyze and conduct in-depth interviews. Data collection with learning style questionnaires, SPLDV test questions and interviews. The analysis of the results of tests and interviews shows that students who have a visual learning style can smooth the stages of creative thinking smoothly and can meet several indicators of creative thinking. Auditory learning style students can pass the stages of creative thinking smoothly, but students tend not to re-check the answers obtained. Auditory learning style students tend not to pass the stages of illumination and verification, students with kinesthetic learning styles cannot meet the indicators of creative thinking flexibility. The six subjects have not fulfilled the indicators of original creative thinking because they have not been able to produce new ideas that are different from other classmates based on their own thinking. Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research to describe the ethnomatematics of the Seblang Olehsari Ritual on the concept of geometry. The research method is descriptive qualitative research using ethnography. The Subject of this study is pawang and dancer of Seblang Olehsari. Data collection with survey, observation and intervews. The results showed that ethnomatematics was used by the Osing ethnic in carrying out the Seblang Olehsari ritual, such as: in the design of ritual places, designing dance costumes and dance patterns performed by dancers when trance. The mathematical concept (geometry) that applied by Osing ethnic, include: the concepts of points, lines, angles, flat shapes, similarity, congruent, and geometric transformations Keywords: Ethnomatematics, Seblang Olehsari Ritual, Geometry.

Abstract

Abstract. Problem solving skill is very necessary in the field of mathematics, for it is necessary to do the exercises so that the problem solving abilities are increased, one type of problem solving is IDEAL which consists of the stages of identifying, define, explore, act and look. The aim of this research was to determine the ability to solve geometry problems based on van Hiele's level. The test used in this research consisted of two test packages. The first test is to determine the level of van Hiele students and the second test is the geometric subject. The results of the first test show that the van Hiele level of students is at the level of previsualization, 0, 0-1, 1, 1-2, and 2. The second test is given to students at levels 0, 1, and 2. The results of the study show that each student is able to write complete information and can define the objectives by writing down the questions. In writing problem solving strategies and in implementing strategies students experience the tendency to make the wrong solution strategies. Abstract

Abstract This research raises the problem of students' problem solving abilities in solving arithmetic sequence and series problems based on the theory of APOS (Action, Process, Object, Schema) in terms of the type of Florence littauer personality. Data collection was obtained from personality type questionnaires, problem solving tests, and interviews. The subject of the study came from 4 students of class XI TKJ 1 of SMK Negeri 2 jember using the snowball sampling method to classify 4 personality types which include sanguinis, koleris, melancholy, and phlegmatic. The results of the analysis of problem solving ability tests and interviews showed that at the stage of action, sanguinis (SS) students could explain smoothly and complete the lack of data on the answer sheet. Koleris students (SK), explained fluently and consistently, melancholy students (SM) could explain correctly even though in answering questions they were still hesitant. Phlegmatic students (SP) are fluent and assertive when explaining the information in the question again. At the process stage, students of SS, SK, SM, and SK managed to find a number pattern and could determine the formula to solve the problem. At the object stage, the four subjects managed to answer correctly even though they used different problem solving processes. At the scheme stage, SS students, SK, SP managed to give the final answer correctly and tried to check the answer again, while the SM students had not managed to answer correctly.  Keyword: problem solving, theory of APOS, personality type

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to analyze student’s errors based on Watson's criteria reviewed from gender. From the results, it can be known the types of student errors, the percentage, and the causes of student’s errors that occur. The research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was done by test and interview. The test are given to the students to find out the types of errors that occur when they complete it. The interview with subjects is done to find out the reason why they did error in completing the test. Subject in this research are 10 students in class VIII C of Junior High School 8 Jember. Five male students and female students. Based on the result of this research, the male students are disposed to do an error omitted data with 13,33%, 13,33% response level conflict, and 16,67% above other. The female students are disposed to do an error omitted conclusion with 24,14%.  Keywords: error analysis, Watson’s criteria, function, gender

Abstract

Abstract.The process of thinking is mental activity that experiences disequlibrium, assimilation, accommodation or equilibrium to define, determine decisions and draw conclusions on a geometric problem. The purpose of the study was to determine the thinking process of quadruple cerebral palsy students to define geometric space. This research is a type of descriptive research through a qualitative approach. Data collection methods used are worksheets and interviews. The subject of the study was carried out to 2 students with cerebral palsy who were sitting in class VIII of the Extraordinary Daksa Middle School of the Disabled Children (SMPLB-D YPAC) Kaliwates-Jember. The results showed that both subjects experienced disequilibrium on topic I students' initial knowledge of geometrical space (prisms, beams and cubes), and assimilation on topic II related to similar examples of geometrical space (prisms, beams and cubes), before finally accommodation when paused before answering correctly the questions from the researcher and before retelling the answers that have been written when answering the questions on topic III which is the core of this research, that is knowing the thinking process of students tundaksa cerebral palsy in defining geometric space constructs (beam prisms and cubes).  Keywords: The Process of Thinking, Cerebral Palsy Students, Geometry

Abstract

Abstract. Learning media is a tool to deliver the materials to students during teaching and learning process. This study aims to develop e-comic learning media on linear program of two variable. The process of developing this learning media refers to the Thiagarajan model known as the 4-D model which consists of four stages, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. The results of the comic media validation included in the valid criteria with a correlation coefficient value was 0.91. Based on the trials that have been conducted in Class X-MIPA 4 MAN 1 Jember with a total of 24 students, the results of the use of instructional media including the level of practicality are categorized as good with a percentage was 91.2%. Then the effectiveness results of comic media based on cognitive, psychomoto, and affective aspects obtained effectiveness level of "Good" in all aspects. Cognitive aspects show a percentage of students who scored above the standard score was 75%. The percentage on the student observation sheet was 87% in the psychomotor aspect. Abstract

Abstract. Islamic University of  Jember  is a private university that organizes education in the Jember city. The implementation of the student exam at Islamic University of Jember, especially Mathematics education, is held 2 (two) times at years, that are  the exam in old semester and the exam in even semester. Each exam will be guarded by 1 (one) lecturer, while 1 lecturer can be a examiner for several semester exam in one day, so that in the preparation of the thesis examination schedule must consider the time availability of each lecturer who will test. The preparation of the semester examination schedule at the Islamic University of Jember in  mathematics education is manually, so that the overlapping semester  exam schedule is still found. The overlapping exam schedule resulted in the implementation of the exam  not being maximal, so that a technique was needed in the preparation of the thesis examination schedule. One technique that can be used to form a schedule is vertex coloring graph. The results of this study show  that vertex coloring can be applied in making the semester examination schedule by giving better scheduling results than the previous method. The resulting semester exam schedule no longer shows an overlapping exam schedule so that the implementation of the semester exam runs better. Keyword : Scheduling, Vertex Coloring, Exams.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research was to produce a product to attract students’ interest in learning mathematics tested the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of using development interactive learning media of arithmetic squence. The role of technology in the field of education is not only limited to how to operate a computer, but is expected to be a solution to learning problems experienced by students and teachers. This research was processed through the stages of 4D that is define, design, development, and disseminate. This research was conducted in MAN 1 Jember which involved 32 students’ of class XII MIPA 2. The result of the research show that the development media is valid according to the material expert with the percentage of the archieved value 93,75% from validator I, 95,31% from validator II, and validator III gives 92,19% value. Effective media with learning test reasult followed 32 students’ in this research show 87,5% completed. Quationnaire showed a percentage of a 85,27% from student for practicality.
