Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of this research was to comparing the chromosomes number from Channidae family. They are giant snakehead (C. micropeltes) and ocellated snakehead (C. pleuropthalmus). The research was conducted in December 2013-January 2014 in the aquaculture Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University for acclimatization of fish, Animals Fisiology Laboratory, Biology Sriwijaya University for made preparations and Laboratory  genetic and fish reproductcy Departement of aquaculture, Maritime Affairs and Fishery Faculty Bogor Agriculture Institute for chromosome analysis. Weight of the fish used in this study was 500-600 gram. Analysis performed on chromosome preparations of both fish used squash method with modifications and stain with Giemsa. Based on the results of the two types of fish that Channa genus that have different numbers of chromosomes where giant snakehead has 50 of chromosome number with range 2n=40-50 and ocellated snakehead has 46 of chromosome number with range 2n=43-46.   Keywords : Channa micropeltes, Channa pleuropthalmus, chromosomes

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purposes of this research were to determine the value of LC50 96 hours and sub lethal toxicity test of latex liquid waste against erythrocytes, leukocytes  and  blood glucose levels of catfish. This research was held from April until June 2013 in Laboratory of Basic Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The materials used for this research were latex liquid waste and bioassay used in this research are the catfish with length of 11 cm ± 0.1 cm with a weight of 10g ± 1g. Lethal toxicity test and sub lethal toxicity test used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven treatments and three replications. Treatment levels of lethal toxicity test were 0 mL.L-1(A), 16.8 mL.L-1 (B), 18.8 mL.L-1 (C), 21.0 mL.L-1 (D), 23.5 mL.L-1 (E), 26.3 mL.L-1 (F) and 29.4 mL.L-1(G). Treatment levels of sub lethal toxicity tests were 0% x LC50 96 hours (A), 0.5% x LC50 96 hours (B), 1% x LC50 96 hours (C), 6.25% x LC50 96 hours (D), 12.5% ​​x LC5096 hours (E), 25% x LC50 96 hours (F) and 50% x LC50 96 hours (G). The results of this research showed that the of LC50 96 hours concentration of latex liquid waste for catfish was 24.5 mL.L-1. Average value range of physical and chemical water properties during lethal toxicity tests were 28°C for temperature, pH between 6.6-6.9, dissolved oxygen between 1.98-2.96 mg.L-1 and ammonia between 0.056-0.402 mg.L-1. The results of sub lethal toxicity tests to control indicated that erythrocytes, leukocytes and blood glucose levels consecutive range 4.718-5.364 x 106 sel.mm-3, 388.97-447.87 x 103 sel.mm-3, 76.82-131.74 mg.dL-1. The results of sub lethal toxicity tests indicated that latex liquid waste concentrations affect the erythrocytes, leukocytes and blood glucose levels at concentrations above 6.25% x LC50 96 hours (1.5312 mL.L-1) with survival of catfish 96.67%. Average range value of physical and chemical water properties during sub lethal toxicity tests were 27.6 to 28°C for temperature, pH between 6.8 to 7.1, dissolved oxygen between 1.43 to 1.89 mg.L-1 and ammonia between 0.194 to 0.549 mg.L-1. Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of study was to know the effect of combination of black soldier fly larva and pellet for growth and survival rate of Pangasius djambal and also to know the optimal food proportion combination of black soldier fly larva and pellet for growth and survival rate of P. djambal. The experiment was arranged has been done for 56 days in the Jambi Freshwater Aquaculture Development Center (JFADC). Fish that used were P. djambal with average weight of 10.17 g. They were placed in aquarium size 100x50x40 cm3 with the density 10 fish/aquarium. The experiment was arranged in a completly randomized design (CRD) with five treatments. Food combination tested were as follows : P1 (100% pellet), P2 (75% pellet and 25% black soldier fly larva), P3 (50% pellet and 50% black soldier fly larva), P4 (25% pellet and 75% black soldier fly larva), P5 (100% black soldier fly larva). The measured parameters were daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and survival rate of P. djambal. The result of this current experiment indicated that combination of black soldier fly and pellet influenced daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio, but not influenced survival rate of P, djambal. The optimal food combination proportion wich gave the best daily growth rate, food convertion ratio, protein efficiency ratio was 97.0-82.5% pellet and 17.5-21.0% black soldier fly larva. Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of this research was to study Gonad Maturity Level (GML), Index Gonado Somatik (IGS), absolute fekundity and egg diameter of Channa striata injected with the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin hormone. The research was conducted in 26th of December 2013 until 26th of January 2014 at the Fish Hatchery Unit (FHU) Batanghari Sembilan, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. Channa striata which as used had weights 85-105 gram per fish. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), (P0) No injection of HCG, (P1) 200 IU per kg fish, (P2) 250 IU per kg fish, (P3) 300 IU per kg fish. Parameters observed Gonad Maturity Level (GML), Index Gonado Somatik (IGS), absolute fekundity and egg diameter. From the four treatment experiment, P3 treatment produced the highest GML V whose the percentage was 20%, while P0 treatment did not reach GML IV and V, most of the P0 treatment (80%) only reached GML II. Based on further test of Duncan Signipicant Differences with 95% credibility level, the IGS data of Channa striata was significantly different and influential among treatments, the smallest IGS was produced from P0 treatment that is 0.43% while the largest IGS was produced from P3 treatment that is 5.91%. The smallest absolute fecundity was on the P0 treatment which was 582 eggs while the largest was on P3 treatment that is 5,775 eggs. The smallest egg diameter was on the P0 treatment which was 0.35 mm while the largest was on P3 treatment that is 0.93 mm. Hormone HCG injections of 300 IU per kg weight of the fish proved to be finalizing a Channa striata gonad.   Keywords : Channa striata, HCG hormone, GML, IGS, egg diameter

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to know optimal feeding rate for growth, survival rate, food convertion, protein efficiency ratio, protein retention and lipid retention of Pangasius djambal fingerlings (weight 3.5-4.0 g). This experiment was done from Maret until May 2007, at Jambi Freshwater Aquaculture Development Center. This experiment used four treatments at feeding rate 2.50%, 5.00%, 7.50% and 10.00% of fish body weight. The result of research showed that the feeding rate 10.0% of fish body weight gave the highest value for daily growth rate 4.11%. the feeding rate 5.0% of body weight wasn’t different in daily growth rate until 7.50% of fish body weight significantly and gave food cenvertion efficiently until 1.35. The feeding rate 2.50% of fish body weight had the highest value for protein efficiency ratio (2.49), protein retention (153.70%) and lipid retention (175.31%). The optimum feeding rate for daily heavy growth rate were feeding rate 8.88% of fish body weight. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to test the effectiveness of black cumin flour (N. sativa) was added to the feed to prevent infection by A. hyrophila on catfish. Catfish fed black cumin flour added as much as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% for 14 days, then tested for bacterial challenge with A. hydrophila 106 cfu.ml-1 through immersion. The results showed that administration of black cumin significantly (P <0.05) in the prevalence and survival of catfish, but not significantly (P> 0.05) on the growth of catfish. Black cumin was also able to increase the number of leucocytes and hematocrit levels. The best treatment in this study was the addition of black cumin as much as 15% in the feed, resulting in a prevalence of 2.22%, 88.33% survival, growth weight 2.51 grams, hematocrit 32%, and total leukocyte 14.88 x 104 sel.mm-3. Abstract

ABSTRACT The aims of this research was to know the effect  of transportation time with closed drying system on unconcious condition for survaival rate of tilapia fry. This research has been done at Aquaculture Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya from 21st-24th June 2009. This research was arvanged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The parameters observed in this experiment were conscious time, survival rate, glucose concentrate, oxygen consumption, feed consumption and water quality. The result showed that the time conscious of tilapia fry need about 4.60 until 14.88 minutes, the transportation time was significant on survival rate of tilapia fry. It was because of stress level and glucose concentrate of tilapia fry are increase. The best treatment was 2.5 hours of transportation with survival rate at 99.33%. The closed drying system of transportation can still to do for 5 hours because the survival rate still 81.33%. The reared at 3 days after conscious from tilapia fry transportation showed that not significant result on survival rate and feed consumption.   Keywords : Tilapia fry, transportation, closed drying system, survival rate

Abstract

ABSTRACT This aims of this research were to determine the percentage of clam meal in substitute fish meal in feed formulations seen from the value of digestibility, growth and feed efficiency. This study was conducted in July-September 2013 in the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Aquaculture Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Cr2O3 and proximate analysis test conducted in Bioprocess Laboratory, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Sriwijaya. The design used was a completely randomized design, using five treatments with three replications. The treatment used is flour substitution of fish meal with a clam on which treatment A (0:100), B (25:75), C (50:50), D (75:25), and E (0:100). In the observed parameters of feed digestibility, growth, feed efficiency, survival, and quality of water. Results showed treatment B (clam meal 25% and 75% fish meal in feed formulation) resulted in a total value of digestibility, protein digestibility of feed, growth and feed efficiency is highest, where the value was 89.51%, 93.23%, 2.07g, 85.72%.
