Abstract

Gunungkidul area, especially Semin and Semanu District, is a whitestone production. This area is a central of stone craft for export anddomestic market.The barriers are the limitation of production tools, low quality ofcraft product, and traditional management. They caused the development ofstone craft are slow. Despite, these conditions make consumers complaint,domestic and also consumers foreign.The 1st year IbPE team from Janabadra University gave problemsolving by creating the moulding machine for UD. Dwi Karya Sejahtera(Small and Medium Enterprise 1) and Frais machine for UD. Mustika Alam(Small and Medium Enterprise 2). The team also gives management trainingfor SMEs.SMEs can decrease the broken of raw materials, which are onprocessing from 35% to 5% by using the moulding machine. The SMEsproductivities can increase by using Frais machine, from 102 m2 per monthto 729 m2 craft stone per month. Management training also increases theskill management for entrepreneur of craft stone, from traditional to modernSMEs.

Abstract

Training of PPM aims to provide a knowledge of science andtechnology on how to create e-learning and developing e-learning content.The software used as a media creation software is the LMS (LearningManagement System) Moodle based on an open source. While the trainee isa vocational school teachers at Kulonprogo.The process begins with registration of participants with theminimum requirements are able to operate a computer properly. Provisionof material starting from the introduction of internet, website and serverinstallation process as well as installation of Moodle software. After thatprovided the core material on how to set courses, course management anduser management using Moodle. The material is the process of uploadingthe website on the internet. The material concludes with providingindependent tasks for each participant to create and develop their owncustomized e-learning. In the process of making an independent task,participants are given assistance in the form of consultation for those whohave difficulties. Independent task is used as the basis for determiningcompetency achievement.Of the participants with the number of 25 teachers, all of them canattend training from beginning to end. In addition, all teachers can completethe task independently well, that is capable of creating and developing elearningand its contents.

Abstract

The activity, called public service, aims to convert the straw to thefermented material as a cattle feed, which is high quality to challenge therate growth of cattle, especially young cattle. In other site we need tosimulate the fermentation technology for using the straw as a raw materialof cattle feed though application of biotechnology..The method of this activity for using the straw as a cattle feedconsists of communicative meeting and practice. The meeting step aims todevelop the knowledge of farmer about the fermentation technology. Thisactivity need about 20 hours with 20 participants, which are the people inJelok, Sentolo, Kulonprogo. The targets of this activity are: 1) head offamily, and 2) young man. This activity consists of 5 steps, namely: 1)preobservation, 2) communicative meeting, 3) practice to use offermentation technology, 4) harvest of the fermentation product, and 5)monitoring evalatuion.The results of this work indicate that the people have enough knowledgeto use the straw as a fermented material as a cattle feed. The index ofpublic participation in this activity is very good, that illustrated by the scoreof more than 80%. The people feel very happy, because they can use thestraw as high quality of cattle feed.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PPM) is triggered by the rise ofbeef traders who sell glonggongan (i.e, pale, soft, and exudates (PSE)) beefas an unfair profit-seeking at the expense of consumer by providingunhealthy, mistreated glonggongan meat. To reduce such a practice, itnecessary to find a healthy way of profitably fattening the cattle. Thesupplementation of cattle feed is one alternative. This Community Serviceactivity aims to: (1) assess the prospects for the use of UMMB supplementsin Jatisarono, Nanggulan District, Kulon Progo Regency in relations to theaspects of community development in a longer term, (2) advise the publicabout the use of UMMB supplements based on the use of radioisotope tracerfor the interests of community of farmers, and (3) provide information to thepublic about the socio-cultural aspects of the use of UMMB supplements insearch for new entrepreneurships.The target audience of the Program is the cow farmer in Jatisaronovillage, District of Nanggulan, Kulon Progo Regency, amounting to 27people. The Methods of Activities include lectures, discussions, information,workshops, limited dissemination. The stages of activity are set asfollows: (1) explaining to the trainees about the various ways for increasedproductivity of beef, (2) discussing the negative impact of unhealthyglonggongan cattle production in terms of health and business, (3) exploringways to overcome difficulties in maintaining beef cattle that can producehigh quality beef, and (4) inviting the participants to practice the productionof UMMB fodder supplements.Upon completion of this program, it is noticed that the cow farmer inJatisarono village became knowledgeable of: (1) the importance of UMMBfodder supplement, (2) the negative effects of unhealthy practice offattening cattle (glonggongan) in terms of health and business, (3) themanure and various elements contained in it to find indicators of the healthlevel of their cattle, (4) the mechanism of production and application ofUMMB fodder supplementAs a follow up, it is expected that cow farmers in Jatisarono village,District of Nanggulan, Kulon Progo will start establishing group to producethe fodder supplement. It is intended for pioneering entrepreneurship andreducing the socio-cultural problems posed by the circulation of unhealthy(glonggongan) beef.

Abstract

Program the society devotion in Orchard Ngepring, Purwobinangun,Pakem, Sleman, Special Region this Yogyakarta aim to can make theyoghurt and cheese use the sour bacterium of laktat, can make the sourbacterium starter of laktat for the yoghurt of cheese and, can be non-stopedto make the yoghurt and cheese for the sale of as innovation of milk productafter existence of program PPM.Step of training Activity done by that is first through counselling ofmaking of milk product become the yoghurt and cheese; second give thetraining make the cheese and yoghurt with the method used by is: methoddemonstrate, and question and answer; and third conductthe evaluation fromcondition of citizen of pasca training and the increasing of skilled ofcompetitor.Result of training activity assessed enough succeed because citizencan mengolah of product of olahan milk become the industrial productolahan home. Abstract

This training was conducted because there were some problems thatexisted in the field. The first problem is the lack of teachers’ competence indeveloping Batik Design for the instruction of local content skills atschools. The second problem is the existence of Bantul Regent DecreeNumber 5 a year 2010 regarding batik as compulsory local content fromelementary to high schools in Bantul Regency. The third problem is theposition of Bantul which is very potential as the center of Batik craft thatobliges schools to take part in developing and preserving Batik culture.From the aforementioned problems, the teachers of cultural arte and skill inSMA 1 Kretek Bantul further proposed a demand to conduct training onBatik Making to develop knowledge regarding design, instructionalstrategy, and additional equipment of Batik. The purpose of this training areto develop the teachers’ insight and skill in designing Batik with the mediumof clothes and wood using indigosol and naptol color, to find out theproduct of Batik craft made by cultural art and skill teachers in all seniorhigh schools in Bantul regency. The first method used in this training ispresentation; to present the insight in developing Batik design, learningstrategy of batik skill and batik finishing. The second method is demonstration,to visualize the technique of making batik from pattern, applyingwax, coloring, and wax disposal. The practical method of batik making isstarted from making pattern, applying wax, and coloring until it becomes afinished batik work. The teachers who participated in this training were ableto follow this program and understand the material presented by the teamwell. They were able to create batik work and it is expected that they canapply the Batik Instruction using the proper method according to theirchoice. Most of the training participants were weak in terms of developingbatik design and in keeping the tidiness of the wax dipper (cantingan) work.The Batik made by teachers was beautiful and it can be used as aninstruction media for creating art, as well as art work and scientific work.Teachers are expected to be able to implement the methods of batikinstruction by observing, imitating, and developing to create Batik craft. Theprovision of example along with the model as instructional media should notonly be imitated by students, but also to motivate them to create art.

Abstract

tProduction tools used by the craftsmen at Prambanan Yogyakartafiberglass is still very simple. There are 2 main tools used by the craftsmenwhich led directly influence both the quantity and quality of handicraftproducts. For mixing dough fiberglass, the craftsmen using improvised toolsand for finishing the painting, the craftsmen using hand brushes. From boththese tools, fiberglass dough mixer was chosen to be developed.The mixer uses elliptic vertical stirrer model with a larger radius atthe bottom. The purpose of this design is for rotating the flow of fluidinsideand sideway of the stirrer rotation and outside flow at the other area.The form of this mixer is a solution of the goal to produce a homogeneousmixture of fiberglass. Swivel stand is the stand of plastic bucket that will befilled with fiberglass dough. This bucket rotates automatically when themixing takes place. Thus an accelerated stirring and mixing a homogeneousmixture.Power uses¼ HPelectric motor with 1425 rpm. Motor speed is thenreduced by half through the pulley transmission. Mixer machineperformance is then compared between the old machines with new machinesassociated with the design of mixer and a different holder. Old mixer usinga single L shape stirrer rod, a new mixer using a mixer with a double ellipticshape intersect. Old mixer using the fix stand, while the new mixer using aswivel stand. Both productiveness of the mixer then compared in terms ofquantity and quality of mixing. Tests on the preparation of the second mixermachine does not show a significant difference, on average it takes 5minutes before stirring preparation done. Tests at the time of stirringshowed that the new mixer can mix faster than the old mixer. New mixerstirring just 5 minutes to produce a homogeneous mixture, while the oldmixer takes 10 minutes. Tests showed that the volume of new mixer capableof stirring the batter with a capacity of 4 times greater at around 20 liters,the results of this dough is much better visually and homogeneous. Theimplication of this finding is new mixer can improve the quantity andquality of fiberglass dough, and can be used as a substitute for the old mixerused byfiberglass industry targets.

Abstract

The community program is dedicated to: 1) give alternative ofprocessing technology of dragon fruit in SMK Agriindustri to preserve andmaintain its nutrients, 2) give alternative of product diversification ofdragon fruit, and 3) give entrepreneurship motivation by having skills toprocess dragon fruit.The programs were done in August 3rd and 4th 2010, located atSMK Agriindustri Nanggulan Kulonprogo. Oral presentation, demonstration,and practicing were used as methods while training. The programwas evaluated its inputs, processes, products, and trainee satisfactions.The evaluations showed that: 1) Dragon fruit could be processed bysugar preservation, which its products were in the range of standards. 2)Dragon fruit could be processed into 6 products, i.e. dragon fruit syrup(simple and special grade), dragon fruit extract, dragon fruit instant drink,dragon fruit jam, and dragon fruit candy. 3) The community program wassuitable with the need of trainee and it could increase the motivation oftrainees entrepreneurship.Keywords: dragon fruit, processing technology, product diversification,entrepreneurship

Abstract

Organic fertilizer is friendly to the environment. It can be made ofbioresources of the surroundings. The aims of this program were: 1) to givea course to the farmers to produce organic fertilizer; and 2) to see theeffectiveness of the course.The method of this programme was organizing a course for farmerswho lived at Pleret Village, Kecamatan Panjatan, Kulonprogo to produceorganic fertilizer from bioresources of their surroundings. They devided into5 groups and they all have practiced how to make N organic fertilizer, Porganic fertilizer, K organic fertilezer and bokashi fertilizer. Abstract

Cow dung represent one of organic solid waste yielded from sectorof cattle. These days beef requirement will progressively mount so that sumup the number of cow is looked after by society also increase at full speed.In region Bantul the increasing of cow amount also give the production inthe form of feces in the form of solid and also melt manure. Cow manure inthe form of solid exist in one of group of livestock cage in unworkedorchard Celep Bantul maximally, most still be used by directly fertilizecrop. Cow manure as material organic is one of disease source for humanbeing because becoming place of various mikroorganisme live, despitefullyalso generate the aroma is not delicate and have potency to contaminate environment.Therefore this society devotion activity aim to give skilled to societyto can to manage the livestock dirt by composting. Compost from theprocess expected can be utilized by as healthier manure organic and canimprove;repair the land;ground condition of around mostly in the form ofland;ground sand.Composting of cow dung executed with the laminated heap methodbetween carbon component (C) and nitrogen (N). Linking cow dung ownthe ratio C / N of about 17, whereas ideal composting of C / N around 25-30, hence at this composting is] cow dung as especial material whichcompost have to be mixed with a carbon component in the form of strawowning ratio C / N of about 130. Composting executed at handbox fromlong fairish board wood 2m, wide 1.5 m and high 1.5m. Compostingexecuted during 12 month;, effective 9 month done/conducted by urning ofeach;every 3 week once.Result of composting indicate that the cow dunghave become thecompost at week 9, with the volume degradation of about 40-45%. So thatfrom 6 wight ton of early, after 9 week decrease to omit 4,2 ton. Cowmanure t become the compost distinguished by its colour is]black, odourlessand odourless crumb structure and also. Respon participants training verypositive because this newly performed by composting training untill finish,from planning till harvest the compost, screening and packaging.
