Abstract

Schistosomiasis due to Schistosoma japonicum still become an endemic disease in Indonesia, especially in Napu, Poso Regency and Lindu, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi. Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis as an intermediate host grows widely in rice field, cacao field and also neglected rice field.Schistosomiasis in those endemic areas was fluctuated every years. Prevalence of schistosomiasis in Napu were 0.64% in 2005, 1.21 %in 2006, and 1.14% in 2007. Prevalence in Lindu were 0.66% in 2005, 0.52 % in 2006, and 1.4% in 2007. The aim of this study was to investigate schistosomiasis case from 1984-2007. It is expected that it can determine the correlation between number of focus area and schistosomiasis. From this study, it showed that the fluctuation of prevalence was related to the numbers of focus area, with p-value was 0.025. In Central Sulawesi Schistosomiasis is difficult to be eliminated because there were many problems.   Keywords: correlation, focus area, schistosomiasis, Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis.

Abstract

Village Pamotan district Kalipucang regency Ciamis is a high malaria endemic region that ever been undergone malaria out-breaks. Its due to malaria is reappear disease following the infection risk factor appearance; thereby, malaria out-break have a chance to happen again at Pamotan on future. To prevent malaria out-break returned, it was conducted survey to identify malaria infection risk factor and also to determine correlation several risk factors found to estimation of malaria infection appearance. The survey result was found that malaria infection risk factor at Pamotan village is malaria sufferer without symptom named malaria carrier is 35.088 0/00, happening many local malaria infection (indigenous-cases) and also outside area infection (import-case) due to human mobilization, existences of potentially vector malaria breeding place and resting site that placed on Anopheles sundaicus mosquito reaching flies area that cause a mosquitoes biting density is high. The highest risk to infective malaria parasite is human on 1 up to 5 year age group; thereby, necessary got prime priority on every malaria control activity. Base on statistically analyze is knew that rain fall data can be used to estimate malaria cases appearance for 2 coming month; thereby, it can be made as one of considerations to compose a malaria control planningfor preventing malaria out-break.   Keywords: Malaria infection risk factor, Mosquito Anopheles sundaicus. Malaria Out-break, Rainfall index, Local malaria infection (indigenous-cases).

Abstract

Dengue fever still becomes health problem in Indonesia. In Palu municipality total reported case for the last three years (2005-2007) is 1,647, and 19 of them was reported die. The aim of this survey was to investigate larvae index and container of Aedes in endemic and potencial area for dengue fever. From this survey, it was shown that larvae index in Palu was relatively high both in the endemic or potencial areas. It was also shown that 9 types of container had a potential as Aedes aegypti breeding places. So that, the breeding places need to be observed to prevent the increase of the endemic dengue fever area. Socialization on how to protect the dengue fever to the local people in the endemic area is urgently needed by controlling the breeding places. A team work which consists of related government sectors should be established to control the dengue fever.     Key words: Aedes aegypti, Breeding places, Container, Larvae index
