Abstract

This research was aimed to describe concrete mix design using British DOE and American AC/ methods viewedfrom concrete compressive strength and cost per-m, The mix design research used materials of sand and split from Krasak River, Nusantara brand Portland cement, and ground water from Faculty of Engineering UNY They were 10 samples each methods of (J 5 x15 x 15) em dimension. The data were collected by meant of experiment inthe Laboratory of Building Materials, Faculty of Engineering, UNY, andanalyzed descriptively. The results were that, to design concrete with K.225characteristic, the DOE method required mix composition of PC : sand:split  = I : 1,58:  3,49 with slump = 13 em, the average weight of concretecubes = 8,066 kgs and characteristic of compressive strength  =   263,1kg/em". The ACI method required mix composition of PC: sand: split = I:2,24:  3,12, with slump = tcm  (slightly over the design value), the averageweight of concrete cubes = 8,215 kgs, and characteristic of compressivestrength = 284,73 kg/em, Based on the cost analysis, per-cube, the DOEmethod cost was Rp 215.906,- and the ACI method cost was Rp 195.791,-..From the analysis, in general the AC/ method was more effective as well asefficient than DOE method.

Abstract

A study on distribution of Malaria, Filariasis, Japanise encephalitis vectors wasconducted in several areas of Central Java in 1998/1999. The result showed that larvae of An. barbirostris, An. subpictus, An. aconitus, An. vagus, An. maculatus, An. kochi, Lutzia sp,  Cx. vishnui, Cx.pipiens quinquefasciatus, Cx. gelidus, Lutzia sp  Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, Cx. bitaeniorhynchus and Cx. fuscocephalus werefound in the Rice field. Larvae of Ae. albopictus and Ar. kucingensis were found in the coconut shell. Larvae of Ae. Albopictus and Malaya sp were found in the Banana leaf axil.  Larvae of Ae. Albopictus, Ae. aegypti and Cx. pipiens quinquefasciatus werefound in the artificial container. Larvae of Ae. poicilius, and Malaya sp were found  in Callocasia leaf axil. Larvae of An. barbirostris, An. vagus, An. subpictus, An. tessellatus, Cx. vishnui, and Mn. uniformis werefound  in the swamp. Larvae of ex. pipiens quinquefasciatus were found  in thepolluted water. Larvae of An.sundaicus, An. subpictus, An. barbirostris and An.vagus werefound in the tick pond. An. maculatus, Ae. albopictus, and An. vagus larvae werefound in the rock pool. Larvae An. barbirostris, Cx. vishnui, and Cx.bitaeniorhynchus of were found  in the irrigation canal.  Larvae of ex. vishnui, and ex. fuscocephalus  were found  in the Stream pool. An. barbirostris, ex.fragilis, An. vagus, Cx. vishnui and Cx. bitaeniorhynchus larvae were found  in the pond. Larvae of ex. vishnui were found  in the ground pool. Larvae of Ae.albopictus werefound  in the Bamboo stump. An. nigerrimus, An. peditaeniatus,. An. vagus, An. subpictus, An. aconitus, An. annularis, An kochi, An. jlavirostris, An.    barbirostris,   An.    indevinitus   An.    tessellatus,   An.maculatus,    Cx.bitaeniorhynchus, ex.  vishnui, ex.  tritaeniorhynchus, Cx. fuscocephalus,  Mn. uniformis, Cx.pipiens quinquefasciatus, Cx. gelidus, Mn. uniformis, Ae. poicilius,Ae. subalbatus, and Ar. kuchingensis were found  in the cattle shelter during night collection. Based on the information mentioned above showed that the higher area  the less  of larvae species.  Each larval species  has  a specificbreeding site. This data is usefulfor mosquitocontrol program.

Abstract

Analyzes    about    characteristics    of    quotient   functionQ(x) = (1- x)/(l  + x)  have been done, where x was scalarvariable.  The result  of  the  analyzes showed  that  quotient function had inverse character and it can be developedfor two variables of multiplication or more. Application of quotient function   in  electrodynamics for   calculation  of  reflection coefficient on reflection wave on boundary plane producessimpleformulation for  r TE  and r TM.    The result is very useful, because mathematics calculation can be done easily.Keywords: quotientfunction, electrodynamics.

Abstract

The propose  of this experiment was to analyze the effect of feedingspeed and cutting depth that effecting cutter temperature. The scatter diagram and variant analysis was used to analyze the data of thisexperiment. The analysis shows that both feeding  speed and cutting depth were influencing cutter temperature. The effect of interaction between feeding  speed  and  cutting  depth  were  influencing  cutter temperature.

Abstract

This study  was  aimed  to  analyze  mechanical properties  of  SalakPondoh fruit  on  maturity periods  through non-linear  viscoelastics model from Lichtensteiger. Using a pneumatics impactor provided bypiezoelectric force sensor BK 8200 and acceleration sensor BK 4374, the  histories  of  the  impact forces   and  impact  acceleration  were recorded on microcomputer system. Thirty-three Salak Pondoh fruit with seven maturity levels were evaluated through impact impulse on one side.  The deformation velocity and deformation level of Salak Pondoh fruit,  due to impact were analyzed and differentiated from impact acceleration data. Using non-linear visco-elastical Lichtensteiger model, the mechanical properties of Salak Pondohfruit were analyzed quantitatively.   The result of this study shows impact force,  deformation, and deformation velocity histories were able to describefirmness and softness mechanical properties of Salak Pondoh quantitatively.Keywords: Mechanical properties, impactforce, deformation, salak pondoh
