Abstract

Induction of the enzyme is an important rule that has found implications in pharmacology and toxicology of a drug. Due to the induction of  biotransformation enzymes, the rate as will increase. Mustard green (Brassica rapa var. parachinensis L.) is one of vegetable which is  liked by the people of Indonesia. The content of indole in the mustard green can act as enzyme in the biotransformation of diclofenac. So it can decrease the number of active diclofenac inflammatory therapy. this research is an experiment using 21 white male rats of  wistar strain fasted for 12 hours divided into 3 groups each group contains 7 animals,than in their blood taken through orbital vein at  0, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 11 hours. Determination of diclofenac sodium performed with UV spectrophotometer at wavelength of 278 nm. Calculated pharmacokinetic parameters are (Ke, t ½, Ka, tmaks, AUC, Cpmaks, Vd, Cl). The parameters are calculated based on a compartment and analyzed statistically by anova test using SPSS version 13:00. The results showed the provision of mustrad green juice for 1 day with a dose of 35.28 g / kg weight for rats and 7 days with a dose of 5.04 g / kg weight for rats before given diclofenac sodium, the Clereance of diclofenac sodium can increase by 24.3479%, and 33, 38% (P <0.05) and  Cpmaks decreased by 50.90% and 68.57% (P> 0.05). Abstract

The aim of the research was to investigate the significant effect among mixing time, mixing rate, and their interaction on the Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) Cold Creams. In this research, the physical as properties of cold cream studied were viscosity, spreadability and viscosity shift. The result showed that mixing time, mixing rate rate and their interaction did not significantly affect the viscosity, spreadability, and viscosity shift responses.

Abstract

Environmental pollution is usually caused by the industrial waste that contains heavy metals. One of the metal is Cr(VI). if it is in large quantities, it will harm our body. Dewandaru leaves (eugenia uniflora L.), is present plant that contains most of the flavonoid with having activity as metal binding ability which is fraction of n-hexana, ethyl acetate, and water from dewandaru leaf extract expressed by binding percentage and define which fraction that gives the greatest binding of Cr(VI. Extracting is performed by remaseration by using ethanol 70%, then the viscous extract is francionated by using n-hexana, ethyl acetate, and water, and then make the concentration series which are 2 ppm, 3 ppm, 4 ppm, 5 ppm, and 6 ppm. The determination of the metal binding ability of Cr(VI) quantitatively uses visible spectrophotometer with K2Cr2O7, H2SO4, and reagent of 1,5-difenilkabazida 0,02% and be calculated by the precentage of the metal binding ability of Cr(VI) againts the control then be anava statistically tested. The result of the research indicates that the fraction of water from dewandaru leaves extract have the highest binding ability of Cr(VI). the result of the percentage of binding in the fraction of n-hexana at concentrations of 2ppm, 3ppm, 4ppm, 5ppm, and 6ppm, are 3.18%, 14,34%, 26,79%, 40,69, 55,33%, the fraction of ethyl acetate, that are 6,63%, 17,92%, 31,33%, 43,28%, 58,82%, and the fraction of water, that are 17,04%, 34,57%, 43,51%, 53,36%, 65,73%. there are the significants differences between the three of groups.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the influence of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea L. var btrytis L.) juice pretreatment on diclofenac activity in inflammation therapy to wistar white male rats. thirty rats were divided into 6 groups using randomized deisgn. Groups I (negative control) was only given akuades, while group II (positive control) was given treatment with sodium diclofenac orally as the dose as 5,04 mg/kg BW.Group III was given pretreatment of cauliflower juice with dose of 20 ml/kg BW. it was given one our before treatment with sodium diclofenac. Group IV was given pretreatment of cauliflower juice with the dose of 20 ml/kg BW and it was given one day before tratment with sodium diclofenac. Group V was given pretratment of cauliflower juice with single dose 20 ml/kg BW for 3 days before treatment with sodium diclofenac, and group VI was given pretratment of cauliflower juice with single dose 20 ml/kg BW for 5 days before treatment with sodium diclofenac. Thirty minutes after treatment with sodium diclofenac, the rats paw was injected woth 1% carrageenan 0,10 ml subplantary. Edema volume was measured from 0th hour to 5th hour after carrageenan injection using pletismometer. The result of statistic analysis of AUC and DAI data have shown that cauliflower juice pretreatment given one hour before treatment with sodium diclofenac did not show significant different with positive control. The research showed that cauliflower juice pretreatment for 3 and 5 days was capable as reducing antiinflamation activity of diclofenac, therefore inflamation therapy with diclofenac was not maximum

Abstract

Empirical experience-based, Lenglengan (Leucas lavandulifolia Smith) leaves has a special antidiabetic effect. This research aimed to detrimine the hypoglycemic effect of ethanolic extract of Lenglengan leave in glucose induced rats.The researchwas conducted by dividing the experiment animals into five groups, each group had 6rats. Three groups were given with athanolic extract of Lenglengan leaves with 63, 126, and 252 mg/kgBW doses. One groupserved as the positive control were given Metformin at 189 mg/kgBW dose and the negative control were given CMC-Na 0,5%. Thirty minutes after the experiment, the animal were given D-glucose monohydrate peroral with 2 g/kgBB dose. The measured enzymaticcally using GOOD-PAPreagent. the evaluation on the hypoglicemic effect was done by making AUC0)0-300 relationship curve value between blood glucose to sampling time 0-300 minute and hypolycemic activity percentages. The statistical analysis to data AUC was done with Kruskal-Wallis test, continued with Mann-Whitney test.The result showed that the ethanolyc extract of Lenglengan leaves at 63, 126, and 252 mg/kgBB doses could decrease the blood glucise on rats glucose induced and was proven statistically to indicate high significance in comparison to the negative control (p < 0,05). The hypoglycemic activity percentage from the ethanolic extract of Lenglengan leaves at 252 mg/kgBB dose of 45,89%, where as metformin 189 mg/kgBB doses it was of 44,86%.

Abstract

Leave of papaya (Carica papaya L.) is one of the plant material used by the community to prevent reduction of platelet (thrombocutopenia) count like Dengue High Fever, however, there is no scientific evidance that supports its use. This study aims to determine the effect of aqueos extract of papaya leave to the thrombocytopenia of male albino rats induced by paracetamol administration. This study used 25 male albino rats of sprague Dawley strain, which is divided into five treatment groups. Group I and given a dose of Paracetamol suspension of 1.6 g/kg BW as an induction group. Group II were given 0.5% CMC NA as a negative control. Group III, IV, and V were treated as in group I were then give an aqueous extract papaya leaves with a dose of 2,4300 g / kg, 3,6450 g / kg, and 5,4678 g / kg bw. Platelet count was measured at hour 0, 3, 6, 9, 24 and 48. Plateletet count data were analyzed statistically with 95% confidence level using SPSS version 13. The results showed that the administration of aqueous extract of papaya leave can prevent thrombocytopenia in male albino rats of Sprague Dawley strain induced by Paracetamol administration (P<0.05). Doses of aqueous extract of papaya leaves which can prevent thrompbcytopenia in male albino rats induced by Paracetamol are 2.4300 g/kg, 3.6450g/kg, and 5.4675 g/kg BW.

Abstract

Fiber of palm oil waste was the biggest waste in palm oil factory. The waste has not optimally being used. It is only used as paper industry raw material and as fuel. This research was done to determine the type and composition of carotenoid from fiber of palm oil waste with the use of High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) equipped with photo-diode array detector. The compotition of carotenoids analyzed on 9 different wavelength between 400 and 900 nm. The results showed that 5 carotenoids peaks were found on palm oil fiber waste. The 3rd and 4th identidied as -carotenoids and cis-β-caroten, whereas no identification were found on the rest of the peaks. The possibility is that those peaks are carotenoid degradation products. The average at wavelength composition between 400 and 600 nm are peak 1> peak 5>peak 4>peak 2>peak 3, respectively.

Abstract

Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship (HKSA) study of eurycomanone derivatives as antimalarial compound was done using multiple linear regression approaches HKSA equation was obtained from theoretical descriptors data which involved atomic net chargers (q), partition coefficient (log P), molecular volume (VM), molecular surface area (LP), molecular weight (BM), and HOMO-LUMO energy differences (EHOMO-ELUMO) versus minimum concentration to inhibit 50% of parasite growth Plasmodium falciparum (log IC50) growth. Descriptors data were obtained by applying AM1 semiempirical quantum mechanics calculation calculation using Hyperchem 7.5 software, while the regression data processes were runned using spss 17.0 program. Based on multiple linear regression approaches, there is a selected quantitative relationship between log IC50 to the descriptors that was shown by HKSA equation below : Log IC50 = - 3048.930 + 5137.957qC2 – 13799.126qC5 – 1537.764qC12 + 556.313qC16 – 817.654qO29 + 4.654log P – 0.146VM + 0.270BM with n = 10, r = 0.982, SE = 1.262, Fcalc/Ftable = 17.805, and PRESS = 1.593

Abstract

The aim of the study were to determine antioxidant activity of isolates astaxanthin from waste of white shrimp shell (Panaeus indicus) and the characteristic as dye in powder formulation. Extraction was carried out using maseration method and acetone as solvent then partitioned using petroleum ether and added NaCl and Na2SO4 anhydrous. Macerate was evaporated using rotary evaporator vaccum and flowed by N2 gas. Isolation astaxanthin pigment using column chromatography and acetone: n-hexane (3:7) as mixed solvent. Determination of antioxidant activity in UV-Vis spectrophotometry using DPPH method. The isolates of astaxanthin and beta-carotene standard which added to DPPH were 1.0 ml 2.0 ml, 3.0 ml, 4.0 ml and 5.0 ml. The antioxidant activity was calculated based on EC50 values​​. Astaxanthin pigment was used as dye in powder formulation. Physical characteristic which observed are organoleptic, adhesion, power spread, homogenity of color and pH. Results showed EC50 value astaxanthin pigment was 565.6223 ppm and beta-carotene was 548.6724 ppm, it can be concluded that there wasn’t significant difference level in antioxidant activity between astaxanthin pigment and beta-carotene. Powder formulation which made fulfill the requirements then it tested on 20 respondents who stated that the powder formulation is good.

Abstract

Isolation and determination of alkaloid at kembang sepatu flowers have been carried out. This Research for  isolated and know the relative concentration of alkaloid at kembang sepatu flowers (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.). Ethanolic extract of kembang sepatu flowers was made with maceration methode according to Farmakope Indonesia III by etanol 70%. Dissociation of alkaloid compound with VLC (Vaccum Liquid Chromatography) and use the organic solvent in the form of mixture methanol-ethyl acetate with level variation. Isolate was specified of standard curve then sampel was calculated rate extract of kembang sepatu flowers TLC-densitometry-way with silica gel as stationer phase and ethyl acetate: methanol (1:5 v / v) as mobile phase. Alkaloid of kembang sepatu flowers available and was isolated and can be use marker compound.The alkaloid concentration of ethanolic extract is 7,41±1,33%, of insoluble ethyl acetate fraction is 3,52±0,25%, and in fraction of VLC is 4,72±0,57%.
