Abstract

Learning media is one of the most factor in supporting succesfully in the learning process. This paper discuss about the development of learning media based interactive multimedia in Electromagnetic Fields course subject. This media is designed to assist students in learning independently using computer assistance. Development of media using the software development through the five stages. The first stage is need assesment, followed by making the design both hardware and software. The third step is the development of media and further testing is done against the media to be developed. The last step is implementation of the media is in the process of learning. Tests conducted with the media black box testing techniques and test feasibility intrumen be done through review of media experts and experts on learning products produced. The result from the validation of media by media and learning experts found that the overall results of this media have a very good rating with the average score of 3.74 with a maximum score of 4 on a likert scale. Student responses on the use of both learning media for this independent study with an average score of 3.24. This shows that the media is entering the category is very good and feasible to be implemented in the learning process.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the parameters quality of induction motor that dominantly influenced to its performance due to several treatments, i.e. (1) the three phase variac and the bidirectional three phase ac regulator were supplied to variable input voltages, and (2) inverter (Altivar) was applied to variable input frequencies. This research was designed experimental research that applied directly to the induction motor that is used as research object. The observed induction motor parameters were input voltages, input currents, real powers, reactive powers, apparent powers, power factors, total harmonic distortion of voltages, total harmonic distortion of currents, motor speed, and torques. By controlling voltages of variac and load currents relatively constant could be found that the voltage harmonics decreased and the currents harmonics increased (5th harmonic only) along with increment of input voltages.  When similar treatments were applied by ac regulator to input voltages, the voltage harmonic factors (3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and 15th respectively) and current harmonic factors (3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th respectively declined.  Furthermore, when inverter supplied to input voltages, voltage harmonics ascended and current harmonics descended (3rd harmonic only) along with increment of input frequencies. The optimal efficiency of induction motor that applied by variac, ac regulator, and inverter were repectively 87.4%, 66.5%, and 64.6%.

Abstract

Based on condition of Mathematics teaching-learning process last year, showing that few students participated in lecturing. Generally, more students just listened to lecturer’s explanation, wrote concepts and examples of problem of topics which were being discussed. So that, effective teaching-learning strategy that capable to activate the students in Mathematics course requires to be managed systematically and continually. In this paper describe the strategy which can improve the quality of Mathematics lecturing. The name of that strategy was co-operative learning. This strategy has been implemented in D3 Electrical Engineering Study Program (D3-EESP) in Engineering Faculty, State University of Yogyakarta. Subjects of the implementation the strategy were all students of D3EESP that taking Mathematics course. Efficacy indicators of this implementation were: (1) when students have participated actively in course classroom, (2) students have participated actively in finishing group duties. From those results, students would have improved their ability in comprehending course items. Result of this implementation indicated that the strategy of co-operative learning succeed to improve the attitude of students in Mathematics lecturing. This efficacy indicator could be seen from student activities in following lecturing, also cooperation of among students in finishing duties were better than before. Another indicator was the increasing amount of students who dare to enquire in class at the time of lecturing take place. Besides, if it was seen from score of Mathematics course, there were 19 out of 34 students had score 60 or more that classified in enough good category (C+) to very good category (A). In another word, there were 55.9% of all students have had passed from Mathematics course. It was a good result

Abstract

This research aim to know result of engineering learning achievement of student of Elektronic technical Department, that taught by using audio-visual aid (media), and result of student learning taught by using conventional method. Research subject is student of Elektronic technical Department which programming Computer network study subject in school year 2008/2009, that divided into experiment group and control group. Every group consisted of 17 mans and 16 mans, that fixed randomly. Experiment group that taught by using audio-visual aid, whereas control group that taught by using conventional method. Student achievement in Computer network  engineering was evaluated by using cognitive summative test. Based on descriptive analysis indicates that result of student computer network engineering learning that taught by using audio-visual aid to stay at very high category, while student that taught with conventional approach resided at high category. Result of research indicates that there are difference significantly result of computer network engineering learning between students taught by using media audio-visual compared to student taught by using conventional method at Elektronic technical Department, where result of student learning taught by using audio-visual media ( 16,25) is higher than result of student learning taught by using conventional method ( 9,25). Implication of this research finding is that the lecturers or teacher need to allow for applies technology-based media in teaching, as audio-visual aid (media), so that result of learning in an optimal fashion, especially for engineering area learning.

Abstract

This research aims to: help student accelerate the compiling final project report through implementation of Kawakita Jiro method; to know the effectiveness of Kawakita Jiro method; and to improve the quality of student’s final project in PSTE FT UNY. This research conducted through Class Action Research method using Kurt Lewin model. Data collected through questionnaire, observation, and investigation of relevant documentation. Population of this research is 42 students of Electrical Engineering Education department who are taking a course of Final Project, which was then taken as a whole the research samples. The data obtained are further analyzed using descriptive percentage.  Results of research indicate that: students who follow the program consist of 3 classes: the 2004 as 6 students (18.18%), the 2005 is 19 students (57.57%) and the 2006 is 8 students (24.25%). Beyond of all participants only 5 students or 15.15%, which already has a final project title and supervisor, while most of the 28 students (84.85%) did not have a final project title and supervisor. Based on monitoring using Kawakita Jiro cards, the constraints faced by students in finishing final project are: a) most of students have no final project title when they take a final project course, or only 3 % of the participant of final project accelerating class; b) less intensive of guidance process; c) There is no special room for student to finish the final project in campus; d) No punishment for student who do not fulfill the agreement when they assign in final project class. Among 42 students who join the final project acceleration class, has stated that 8 students or 19% have passed the final project examination, while 2 students (5%) still in progress to conduct the final project examination; 24 students (57%) had collected final project proposal and until the end of research there were 8 students (19%) had not been collecting final project proposal.

Abstract

Students learning achievement on the subject of Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara were relatively low. One of the resistencies in learning process of the subject was no module. As the effort to improve students learning achievement, in this research will be developed learning module on the subject of Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara. The module will be used in learning process to improve students learning achievement. This research was conducted in Electrical Engineering Study Programme of Engineering Faculty of  State University of Yogyakarta. This research was started by developing the competency based module of the subject of Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara, then the module was used as a main learning resource on the learning process. This classroom action reasearch was conducted in some cycles, each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subject was the students of Electrical Engineering Study Programme who joined course of the subject of Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara in odd semester in the academic year 2008/2009. The number of student were 13 students. Data were collected through questionaire, observation, test and assignment. Data were analysed by descriptive analysis. The result were: (1) the competency based module of the subject of Teknik Pendingin dan Tata Udara has been developed and visible to be used as a learning resource of the course; (2)  the implementation of the module in learning process can improve the students learning achievement.

Abstract

This research is purposed to improve the understanding of student of the D3 Electrical Engineering Study Program in Basic Computer subject matter closed by problem-based learning. The specific purpose of this research are to learn more about the ideal method of problem-based learning and to know how far this method can improve the student’s achievement of student of D3 EESP for Computer Basic subject matter. This Computer Basic subject matter has purpose to make a good basic skills programmer logics and concept of basic programmer languages. This research is a classroom action research which conducted in Electrical Engineering Study Programs D3 FT UNY. This Research contain four cycles, where the basic of problem-based learning to be implemented in first cycle. Given action will be observed and evaluated as basic consideration of action to be chosen in the next cycle. In every cycle, lecturer tries to make problem-based learning situation so the students could solve the problem in course process. The result of this research indicate that students attention for problem-based learning method only happened in the beginning cycle. Students assuming  that  the problem-based learning method is a new experience for them. For the next cycle which used the same method students do not asume the method is a interesting matter, but unconsciously the students understanding of the subject matter increase.

Abstract

The national crisis Indonesian has is multidimensional one attacking violently our nation, which makes all sectors of our national life decline. In the economic sector the deterioration causes the more unemployed and the narrower work opportunity. That constitutes a very big challenge should be faced by students as candidates of workmen. One of the ways of solving the problems is that by setting up entrepreneurship. In order that private enterprises activities run successfully needed good preparation while the students are still studying. The main thing should be available in entrepreneurship is that the interest of students entrepreneurship. To develop that needed construction, guidance, and consolidation of the factors influencing the interest of entrepreneurship namely self concept, self reliance attitude, the background of family and the knowledge of it.

Abstract

Makalah ini merupakan bagian dari penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dampak media pembelajaran mobile untuk penguasaan gerbang logika dasar dalam proses pembelajaran di SMK. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan pendekatan ADDIE untuk pengembangan materi dan pendekatan Waterfall Pressman untuk pengembangan perangkat lunak. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu 27 siswa kelas XI pada SMK Muhammadiyah Kudus. Data diperoleh menggunakan tes. Hasil dari validitas, reliabilitas, daya beda, dan indeks kesukaran tes diketahui masing-masing sebesar 0.492, 0.810, 0.373, dan 0.594. Data yang telah diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji  Wilcoxon dan nilai gain. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa media pembelajaran mobile berdampak pada penguasaan gerbang logika dasar dengan nilai signifikansi posttest terhadap 0.008 pada dan juga ditunjukkan dari skor gain sebesar 37.04%, yang berarti terdapat peningkatan dalam proses pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran gerbang logika dasar.  Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Mobile, Gerbang Logika Dasar

Abstract

Aplikasi User Interface (UI) berbasis Android berkembang sangat pesat. Banyak aplikasi kendali sistem dan monitoring sistem berbasis UI Android. Salah satu yang coba diusulkan penulis adalah aplikasi UI Android untuk sistem monitoring jarak benda menggunakan sensor ultrasonik berbasis Arduino. Dalam sistem ini data jarak diperoleh dari pengukuran sensor ultrasonik yang kemudian diolah oleh Arduino Uno. Hasil pengukuran dari Arduino dikirimkan ke smartphone Android menggunakan komunikasi Bluetooth. Aplikasi UI yang dikembangkan menggunakan aplikasi Android RemoteXY. Kita bisa mengembangkan aplikasi UI lebih fleksibel melalui situs remoteXY.com. Kode hasil desain UI diubah ke kode sketch Arduino untuk diupload ke mikrokontroler Arduino. Dari hasil uji coba diperoleh hasil pengukuran jarak yang sesuai dengan jarak sebenarnya, dengan menggunakan penggaris , dan mampu tampil di layar smartphone Android. Selain  menunjukkan jarak benda sistem monitoring juga bisa menunjukkan status jarak dari benda tersebut dalam rentang yang jauh atau dekat sesuai dengan pengaturan awal.Kata kunci: ultrasonik, Android, Arduino, Bluetooth
