Abstract

This paper contains the results of an examination of the feasibility of building Inpres IV Market post earthquake in Padang on September 30, 2009.Based on data BMG, the earthquake occurred at 5:16:23 pm , the depth of 776 km with a magnitude of 7.9 Richter scale, positioned at 57 km southwest of Pariaman accompanied several aftershocks which also has a large enough magnitude scale. The Building of Inpres IV market is located in the city of Padang, West Sumatra Province was built in 1979.The upper structure of building Inpres IV Market is an open two-story frame structure made ​​of reinforced concrete. At this time, the building suffered damage caused by the earthquake. The purpose of the inspection is to obtain field data such as building configuration, structural elements that were damaged after the earthquake and material data and sampling for laboratory testing. in addition to the purpose of this inspection is also to provide technical advice on the level of reliability of the present building structure (existing) and provide recommendations for improvement and strengthening of the structure of the building is required to be able to function again. The analysis showed unsafe structures to withstand seismic forces (2nd floor structure), while in terms of the feasibility function is also not feasible. Suggested should Inpres market structure IV rebuilt in accordance with the conditions of necessity now.

Abstract

The high consumption of electrical energy can not be efficient if the the electrical lamp use is unbalanced with activity in one room. In order to be more efficient between lighting needs and electrical energy supply, it can be made an automatic electrical lighting controller. In this research, the research team use microcontroller to be more efficient and economic. The utilization of this microcontroller will be developed by using hardware and software. Controller of this ligthing installation is simulated by using set theory which can be supported by lighting sensor. This set theory which is applied in this lighting installation design will be actified by lighting sensor (LDR). Futhermore, this device can be more efficiently in electrical energy consumption (50.2%) and electrical power consumption (122 Watt) with total power is 243 Watt.

Abstract

At this writing testing Helix antenna performance with different materials. Materials used include copper, iron, aluminum at a frequency of 600-800 MHz with a center frequency of 700 MHz to know where the best material from a third predetermined material. Helix antenna designed with Axial mode. The test results showed helix antenna works at a frequency of 690 MHz on iron and copper material and helix antenna for aluminum works at a frequency of 640 MHz. Helix antenna from copper material has a received power of -44 dBm, better than the helix antenna of materials for iron and aluminum at -50 -45 dBm. Copper helix antenna has a gain of 9.14 dBi antennas greater than 8.14 dB helix of iron and aluminum by 3.14 dB

Abstract

There are two logical channels in the GSM network namely Traffic Channel (TCH) that carries the actual user traffic and Control / Signalling Channel to control the behavior of the mobile station. SDCCH is one of Control Channel used for call setup process before obtaining the TCH. The traffic increament on a cell causes the unavailability of channels resulting the TCH blocking. High traffic cells need additional channel capacity analysis or optimization process. Optimization process is done before deciding to upgrade the TRX or to construct the new base stations. The first optimization is aimed for changing the SDCCH parameters  to TCH if SDCCH Time slots are still available. The second optimization is traffic sharing between GSM 900 to DCS 1800 or otherwise to the same cell. Based on data traffic for four consecutive weeks and the maximum busy hour traffic then adding channel capacity analysis on a cell can be determined. From the results of the audit on the thirteen cells of GSM 900 and DCS 1800 there were 8 cells that can perform the parameter transfer from SDCCH to TCH and 7 cells that can perform traffic sharing on the GSM 900 and DCS 1800 bands.

Abstract

Information about the weather are needed to do the activity. Moreover, the activities to be carried out in an area. To make it easier to know the weather conditions in a region, then created a tool that can provide information about weather, equipment making use of weather information AT89S52 microcontroller that serves as a store of data obtained from each sensor is SHT11 sensor, TGS2600 and sensor electrodes. The data is then sent to the media cell phone, cell phone used is the Siemens C55. data is transmitted in the form of text, which is then ditampilan on display Led display. Making these tools are expected to make it easier to find weather conditions in an area without having to leave the stricken area.

Abstract

The development of technology is now so rapidly, covering the fields of human life and not escape also in industrial fields. In the field of industry today almost every industry has been applying the principles of automation in the process industries. Diman is a process automation system is expected to work on the effectiveness and efficiency of time, manpower and so easy to operate and produce a good process. To realize the above, the use of a control program that is simple and easily processed. PLC is a tool that can be used to solve problems in the operation of complex systems, is due PLC programmable and easy to operate the necessary information about the process variable conditions are controlled at all times so that the process can proceed smoothly, which it is a real data time. For systems with many input-output and process a far distance is very difficult to control and get the real time data is valid. One of solving the above problem is to implement a supervisory methods, the SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition). Where there is a major terminal unit (Master Terminal Unit) as a supervisory and a separate terminal unit (remote terminal unit) is close to the plant are both connected via a communications network. One of the SCADA software used in this research is intelution FIX 6.1

Abstract

Currently, many applications that support conversations so that we can connect and communicate between users, whether it be a conversation in the form of text, voice and even video. But what actually the form data sent or received by the user during communication? So in this study will be discussed and analyzed how the data communication on the application of voice conversations base LAN network. Applications voice conversations are created using Visual Basic 6.0 is equipped with a database. The database created using Microsoft Access 2007, aims to facilitate users who wish to join in the conversation. The application is built on the local network (Local Area Network / LAN) using a type of peer-to-peer networks. On the type of network where there is no specific functioning computer, all computers can function as a client and server at the same time. For the analyze communications traffic data or data packets on the voice conversation application used a software, namely software Wireshark. On the results captured in wireshark look multilevel process of sending data from the application layer, then successively Transmission Control Protocol, Transport, Internet Protocol, Network, Ethernet II, Data link and Physical layer last.

Abstract

The thermoplastic elastomer was mixture of several polymer compound which have thermoplastic properties by conventional elastomer function. The melting process of the TPE cause degradation of the natural rubber because the natural rubber was very sensitive on thermal and oxidation, but the emulsion method can avoid degradation during the preparing  process, the elasticity of the natural rubber  and the tensile strength of the PS  were awakened. So the TPE result have the excellent mechanical properties. The grafting process of polystyrene with maleic anhydride was carried out in the internal mixer at temperature 2400C using benzoil peroxide as initiator then characterized using the spectrophotometer (FT.IR). The PS-g-MA was dissolved in the toluene and made the emulsion using ammonium lauryl sulfate as emulsifier. The PS-g-MA emulsion mixed with NR Latex at the several ratio using ammonium lauryl sulphate  (ALS) as emulsifier and characterized by photo digital 400 x .  The mixture was poured into a mould and left in blower oven at 250C for 8 - 12 hours to remove the bubble and cured at 35 – 500C.  The cured specimen was allowed to cool slowly at room temperature in the mould. The morphology of specimen was characterized by photo SEM and the tensile strength test were performed according to  ASTM D-638. The results show that the grafting process of PS with MA was success. The particles size of the PS-g-MA/NRL emulsion was revealed by photomicroscope analysis. According to the result, the PS-g-MA/NRL emulsion could be described as partially miscible blend and stable at ratio of PS-g-MA/NRL : 90/10,  the particles size of the emulsion at about   1 – 10 mm. The tensile strength of film PS-g-MA/NRL increased  as increasing of the curing time but the elongation at break  was decreased.

Abstract

Recently,  rotational engines widely used in industries. Engine’s speed come higher and higher so that the demand on its reliability increase as well.  High reliability will be obtained if the cause of failure is known and overcome. One machine element which generally has shorter life time is bearing. Damage on bearings is accelerated by the increase of load due to misalignment. Related with the prevention of bearing’s damage, study on shaft misalignment has been carried out. The aim of the study was to find techniques to obtain an acceptable alignment procedures.In practice the machine’s foot shifting determined manually using graphs and side view of the quantity of misalignment. This study is carried out using graphic technique in determining the shifting quantity of machine’s foot using Excel for two-dimensional view and Matlab for three dimensional one. By this technique and computer program  it can be determined the quantity of misalignment on a machine and what should be done to shift the machine. Using this technique and computer program the calculation process can be done more quickly and accurately. Machine’s foot shifting in alignment process in order to get an accurate misalignment measurement data use a dial indicator with a variety of methods such as face and rim, face to face, reverse indicator, double radial, and the shaft to coupling spool.

Abstract

Utilization sensor measurement tools will provide many benefits. In addition to improving the afficiency and effectiveness on the model, measurement tools can be made more simple. This enables a measurement tool combined with other measurement tools. That means a blood pressure measuring devices can be combined with body temperature measuring devices become more complex measuring instrument.
