Abstract

A Q-switched ruby laser ultrasonic source concentric with an annular electro-magnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) as a detector, working in a pulse-echo system, have been used to inspect titanium diffusion bonds for nuclear reactor spent fuel containers. The detected waveforms were analyzed with cepstral analysis to indicate the effectiveness of diffusion bonding. The results show that they :ue in a good agreement with those of the conventional immersion testing.

Abstract

Three experiments have been carried out to study the contribution of Azolla - N and urea - N residues from the previous planting season for the increase of rice production. These field experi-ments were conducted at two different places namely, Bogor and Pusaka Negara. In Bogor two experiments were conducted after the Wet Season (WS) and the Dry Season (DS) of 1985/1986. In Pusaka Negara only one experiment was conducted. after the WS of 1986/1987. Data from the three experiments showed that residues of Azolla-N and urea-N from the previous season were able to increase rice production expressed in dry weight of grain, straw, biomass. It was also observed that there were differences in the case of total N-yield derived from Azolia (N-dfA) and derived from urea (N-dfU), and in the percentage of efficiency of N-dfA and N-dfU shown by two different rice varieties used.

Abstract

A method has been described for the noncontact ultrasonic thickness measurements of thin aluminum sheets, using a Q-switched ruby laser generation concentric with an annular electro-magnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) detection to imitate pulse-echo systems. The detected waveforms were analy-zedwith the cut-off frequencies of the higher order Lamb modes. The results show in a good agreement with micrometer measurements within 2% discrepancy.
