Abstract

Sungai Percut merupakan sungai yang terdapat di Kabupaten Deli Serdang yang bermuara ke Selat Malaka. Air sungai Percut digunakan untuk, bahan baku air instalasi pengolahan air (WTP Mini) PDAM Tirtanadi, keperluan mandi cuci kakus (MCK) serta sebagai tempat pendaratan kapal nelayan Percut Sei Tuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi logam berat kadmium (Cd) pada akar, kulit batang, daun A.marina, mengetahui konsentrasi kadmium pada sedimen dan air, mengetahui hubungan antara konsentrasi logam berat di air dan sedimen. Pengambilan sampel A. marina (akar, kulit batang dan daun) dilakukan pada tiga stasiun dengan tiga kali ulangan. Analisis konsentrasi kadmium menggunakan metode Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi kadmium pada akar, kulit batang, daun A. marina memiliki konsentrasi berurutan sebesar 6,18 mg/kg, 3,92 mg/kg, dan 2,59 mg/kg. Konsentrasi logam berat kadmium di air sebesar 6,35 mg/l dan sedimen 7,54 mg/l. Konsentrasi logam berat Kadmium pada A. marina , air dan sedimen pada Perairan Percut Sei Tuan belum melampaui baku mutu pada tumbuhan, air maupun sedimenKata Kunci: Avicennia marina, Logam Berat, Kadmium (Cd), AAS, Percut Sei Tuan

Abstract

Serasah mangrove yang jatuh menjadi sumber pakan biota perairan dan unsur hara yang sangat menentukan produktivitas perikanan laut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis nutrien dari produksi serasah mangrove yang dihasilkan, untuk menduga produktivitas primer melalui pelepasan nutrien serasah mangrove, dan untuk menduga stok ikan di alam berdasarkan daya dukung ekosistem mangrove. Perhitungan nutrien dari produksi serasah mangrove dilakukan dengan menggunakan kantung serasah. Sedangkan perhitungan pendugaan stok ikan ini menggunakan efisiensi konversi produktivitas primer Beveridge (1984). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jumlah pelepasan nutrien dari serasah mangrove adalah sebesar 0,056-0,128 g N/m2/hr dan 0,005-0,012 g P/m2/hr. Nilai produksi primer berkisar antara 2,146-4,761 g C/m2/hr. Pendugaan terhadap jumlah ikan herbivora adalah berkisar 792-1756 kg/ha/th; ikan karnivora adalah 80-175 kg/ha/th dan total stok perikanan adalah 869-1931 kg/ha/th. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendugaan stok ikan pada ekosistem mangrove di Desa Lubuk Kertang dalam satu hektar akan menghasilkan rata-rata sebesar 1249 kg/th.Kata Kunci : Ekosistem Mangrove, Serasah, Nutrien serasah, Produktivitas Primer, Stok Ikan

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem in the Nipah Village Sei Nagalawan is a coastal area that is quite interested by tourists. The instead of mangrove area, into plantation area, agriculture land and aquaculture/pond was found in these location. It resulted in the mangrove area is decreasing and decreasing ecological function of mangrove ecosystem. This study purposed to determine the condition and parameters of mangrove water quality and the influence of community activities on mangrove ecosystem in the Nipah Village Sei Nagalawan. This research was conducted in January – April 2017. This research is done by survey method and sampling has been done by purposive sampling method. The research showed that mangrove condition in Nipah Village Sei Nagalawan is rarely (damaged). The ecology condition of aquatic in every station (temperature, salinity and pH) still fulfill quality standard according to LH No. 51/2004 unless the DO is equal to 3,2-4 mg/L. Total score obtained from the questionnaire of community activities amounted to 200. These value meant that factor of community activity has an effect on the destruction of mangrove ecosystem in the Nipah Village Sei Nagalawan.Keywords : Mangrove, Coastal Communities, Nipah Village, Sei Nagalawan,  Serdang Bedagai.

Abstract

The East Coast of North Sumatra is part of the Malacca Strait Waters which is a fishing area with a high level of exploitation. One of commodity catches in the East Coast of Sumatra are Yellowstripe Scad (Selaroides leptolepis). By knowing the parameters of Oceanography, especially temperature and chlorophyll-a, it can be predicted to the fishing area that can be used as a guide for the purpose of catching (exploitation). One of the satellites that can detect SPL and chlorophyll-a is Aqua (EOS PM) with a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer Sensor (MODIS). The data of Yellowstripe Scad (Selaroides leptolepis) obtained from the Ocean Fishery Harbor in Belawan. SPL in East waters of North Sumatra in 2012-2016 based on Aqua MODIS image analysis ranged from 29⁰C - 32⁰C, and chlorophyll-a distribution has a range of 0.19 - 5.26 mg / m³. The highest production occurred in the West season with the value reached 143.46 tons and the lowest production in the East Season of 139.87 tons. The production of Yellowstripe Scad was negatively correlated or contrasted with the SPL with a correlation value of -0.365. The relationship of chlorophyll-a with the catch obtained a positive correlation value of 0.660 means that if the content of chlorophyll-a in the water increases then the catch of fish will also increase and vice versa. Yellowstripe Scad cathcing areas predicted to have the highest cath is in the West Season (December-February) between the Asahan Regency to the Labuhan Batu Regency on the coordinates 2,68⁰N - 2,74⁰N and 100,37⁰E - 100,44⁰E.Key Words : East Coast of North Sumatera, Aqua Modis, Chlorophyll-a, Sea Surface Temperature, and Yellowstripe Scad (Selaroides leptolepis)

Abstract

Nelayan Indah Urban Village is located in Medan Labuhan where the areais 420 Ha. This study aims to find out how the structure of mangrove vegetation, the potential of mangrove ecotourism and calculate carrying capacity of the area used as the development of mangrove ecotourism in the Nelayan Indah Urban Village. The research use Purposive Sampling as the method for the mangrove potential and interview. This research also use ecological compatibility analysis to find out the type of tourism to be developed and carrying capacity analisist, to find out the maximum number of visitors. Where physically can be accomodated in the area provided at a certain time without causing distruption to the human andnature. The type of mangrove found are Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Nypa fruticans. The mangrove ecotourism suability index at the first station is 51,28% inunconditional under category, in the second station is 61,53% inunconditional under category and in the third station is 74,35% inunconditional under category. The carrying capacity at the first station is 12 persons/day, 16 persons/day at the second station and 20 persons/day at the third station. All of people in the Nelayan Indah Urban Village agree and support on the activities of mangrove forest ecotourism.Keywords: Ecosystem mangrove, Ecotourism, Nelayan Indah Urban Village

Abstract

Aquatic Primary Productivity is a process of organic compounds forming through the process of photosynthesis. Siombak Lake is one of the artificial lake in Medan Marelan District of Medan City which is to be used by the community for tourism, fishing activity, and household disposal cesspit so that give negative impact to the water. This research aims to determine the rate of aquatic primary productivity in Siombak Lake and to determine the relationship between aquatic primary productivity with Chlorophyll-a and Physical Parameters of Aquatic. The research was conducted in February – March 2017. The method used in this research is purposive sampling method which is devided into three stations based on different activities. The analysis used were primary productivity analysis, water quality, chlorophyll-a, and pearson correlation. The condition of Siombak Lake is classified as medium polluted with dissolved oxygen value (DO) has an average value of 3.08 mg/L. Based on its Primary Productivity value of Lake Siombak pertained Mesotrophic Lake with average value of 1005,9648mgC/m3/day, with the average value of chlorophyll-a is 4,108 mg / m3. The Relationship betweenthe rate of aquatic primary productivity with chlorophyll-a and the aquatic chemical physics parameters at Siombak Lake is very strong.Keywords : Primary Waters Productivity, Chlorophyll-a, Physical ChemicalFactor, Lake.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem is one among of the several ecosystems that found in coastal areas. This mangrove in Lubuk Kertang Village is managed together by citizen to fufill the needs of their community. The research aims are to know the correlation of mangrove density to fish diversity. Research done by using Purposive Samping method with two week intervals for two months. Mangrove species that found at the research site consists of 10 species of the Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, Avicennia alba, Avicennia lanata, Avicennia marina, Soneratia alba, Bruguiera sexangula, Acanthus ilicifolius, Excoecaria agallocha, dan Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae. The kind of fish species that found in the research site consists of 16 species that belonged to the 5 orders, 15 families, 15 genera that was Gymnothorax tile, Epinephelus fuscoguttatus, Plotosus canius, Johnius trachycephalus, Valamugil engeli, Scatophagus argus, Carangoides praeustus, Gerres filomentosus, Lutjanus fulviflamma, Leiognathus equulus, Lutjanus johnii, Hemaloptera ocellata, Butis amboinensis, Batrachomoeus trispinosus, Bodianus izuensis, and Pomadasys argenteus. The diversity index is classified as moderate. Correlation coefficient (r) of 0.876 indicates that there is a very strong relation between mangrove density with fish diversity.Keyword : Mangrove vegetation, fishes diversity, Lubuk Kertang Village.

Abstract

Bentos have the important role in human live, for example as food source, as one of the food chain organism, and also bioindicator of marine pollution. It’s show seagrass beds have a lot of potential to be useful by the people for rising production of fisheries. The aims of this study were to analyzed relation between density of seagrass beds and community structure of macrozoobentos. This research was done in Mei 2017, used purposive sampling method by observating of seagrass vegetation, macrozoobentos, measurement of water quality and type of substrate analysis. 3 species of seagrass was found in seagrass beds with density at Station I 133 ind/m2, II 125 ind/m2, III 41 ind/m2, and IV 109 ind/m2. 22 species of macrozobentos was found at the research site. Density of macrozoobentos at Station I 6,115 ind/m2, II 2,785 ind/m2, III 1,957 ind/m2, and IV 5,469 ind/m2. Regresion analysis was show by equation y = 14,083x + 44,448 with R2 = 0,4655 and r = 0,6822 relationship between seagrass density and macrozoobentos density are strong. Which means any increase in seagrass density will affects 46,55 % with macrozoobentos density.Keywords : Seagrass, Macrozoobentos, Community Structure, Unggeh Island

Abstract

Leaf litter has an important role for the mangrove waters fertility. The research was carried out for 90 days and samples were taken for 15 days. The results showed that the leaf litter R. mucronata at salinity levels 0-10 ppt decomposed faster than other salinitylevels. Average weight of residual leaf litterwhich is decomposititated namely the level at 0-10 ppt is 8,89 grams, salinity 11-20 ppt are 10,05 grams and salinity 21-30 ppt is 12,88 gram. Leaf decomposition rate R. mucronata at the level of salinity 0-10 ppt, 11-20 ppt and 21-30 ppt are 8,21, 6,87 and 4,92. While C elements salinity level ppt that is 0-10 ppt, 11-20 ppt and 21-30 ppt are 17,84 %, 17,47 % and 17,03 %. N elements at salinity on the level of 0-10 ppt, 11-20 ppt and 21-30 ppt are 1,39 %, 1,34% 1,30%. And P elements at salinity on the level of 0-10 ppt, 11-20 ppt and 21-30 are 3,77 %, 3,22% dan 3,44%.Keywords :Rhizophora mucronata, the rate of decomposition, mangrove, salinity, litter, nutrient.

Abstract

The Factories that stand around the mangrove area of the Percut Sei Tuan allow the occurrence of waste disposal included heavy metals into the aquatics. One of the heavy metals found in these aquatics were Plumbum (Pb). The aim of this research to determined the concentration of lead Pb on roots, leaves and stem barks of Avicennia marina and to determined the ability of mangrove vegetation to accumulated heavy metals of lead Pb in the area of the Percut Sei Tuan. Heavy metal concentration of lead (Pb) on roots, stem barks, and leaves were 4,83 mg/kg, 0,805 mg/kg, and 1,31 mg/kg. The concentration of heavy metal lead (Pb) on water and sediments were 0,09 mg/l and 14,3 mg/l. It show that A. marina was able to accumulating heavy metals Pb on roats, stem barks and leaves, and was not exceeding the estabilished quality standart.Keywords: Percut Sei Tuan, Heavy Metals , Plumbum (Pb), Avicennia marina
