Abstract

There was much debate about how literacy program can best serve learners. Many experts recently after new paradigm for literacy program as a social practice with contextual meaning rather than only as a technical skill, it should provide services which are culturally relevant, participart driven, and socially empowering. Literacy is not something we do in our head, but something to do in social, institutional and cultural relationship. Therefore, adult literacy program should be disigned upon the background and need of learners. It should encourage a “dialogie” relationship between facilitators and learners. It should focus not werely on “reading the word”, but also “reading the world.”

Abstract

Education based on economic character is urgent to improve students’ knowledge, intellectual ability and entrepreneurial capacity. Therefore, economic sensitivity has to be internalized by means of learning based on creativity and autonomy. Students must be positioned as actors and teachers as facilitators.

Abstract

Accelerated Learning (AL) as an instruction method at school has different meaning, conceptually and application as well. Departemen Pendidikan Nasional describes it as an instruction effort for students who have high intelligent to given a certain threatment education that called accelerated learning program, which was aimed to accelerate study, at least one year from the level that students should finish. However the accelerated method can be applied to all of students, include for students who have lack and medium skill.

Abstract

The study aims at describing the process of problem solving in word problems carried out by primary school third graders who have high, average, and low capabilities. The protocol method was used in this study. Thinking aloud and clinical interview techniques were used for collecting data. The data collected consisted of algorithms of the problem solving processes on word problems. Findings of this study confirmed the five steps in the process of problems solving in word problems carried out by primary school third graders: (1) understanding the problem, (2) representing the problem, (3) deciding the mathematical model, (4) executing the calculation, and (5) drawing the conclusion that constitutes the answer. The difference among learners with high, average, and low capability in the processes of problem solving is consistent. The difference is primarily on the use of mathematical models, use of time, and the number of steps needed in solving the problems. For instructional software designers, the important implication of the findings of this study is the need to design instructional soft wares that accommodate a wide range of learner characteristics. Among the many types of instructional soft wares, the one that seems to be most promising in adequately fulfilling this need is CBI, because it can most effectively address the 3 elements of instruction i.e. substance, presentation modes, and management.

Abstract

This study was aimed at describing the effects of teaching methods and achievement motivation and interaction between the two on achievement in physics. This study was an experimental study using 2 x 2 factorial design. Subjects in this study were first year students of Catholic Senior High School of Palu. To analyze the data, a two-way ANOVA was used. Results show that (1) there was a significant difference in physics achievement between the students who were taught using cooperative learning and those who were taught using individual learning (p< 0,05). The achievement mean of the students who were taught using cooperative learning was higher then the achievement mean of the students who were taught using individual learning, (2) ) there was a significant difference in physics achievement between the students with high achievement motivation and those with low achievement motivation (p0,05).

Abstract

The Earth, the planet where we live become worst and worst because of a lack of awareness of the people. Especially water, the most important natural resources for human living now is in danger. Most people agree that environmental education in school can teach student to become aware and involve in conserving our environment. We believe that schools dan teachers can do environmental education well if there is enough facilitates; one of them is instructional materials. The purpose of this study is to product multimedia to learn watershed comprehensively for student Senior High School (SMU). This product which puts in CD ROM is designed by using Constructivist Instructional Design, named R2D2 Model. This multimedia product which has tried-out at SMUN 3 Malang has increased student’awareness about water conservation successfully.

Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the effect of inquiry and expository approach and student’s attitude on achievements in memorizing and understanding concepts in geography. This was an experimental study using 2x2 factorial design. The subjects of the study were group A and C of second grade students of SLTP Laboratorium State University of Malang. Attitude scales and achievement test were constructed as instruments in this study. A two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that the students who were taught by using inquiry approach performed better in achievements than those who were taught by using expository approach. Students with positive attitude performed better in achievements than those with negative one. There was no interaction found between teaching approach and students’ attitude on geography achievements.

Abstract

Artikel ini memaparkan penelitian eksplorasi tentang keefektivan animasi pembelajaran—low-tech dan high-tech—dalam menunjang pembelajaran prepositions bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar. Dalam penelitian ini subjek menerima sejumlah kalimat bahasa Inggris sederhana dimana “motion preposition”-nya telah dihilangkan. Setiap kalimat disertai gambar animasi (low-tech atau high-tech) untuk mempresentasikan aspek gerakan dari motion preposition. Subjek diminta untuk melengkapi kalimat tersebut dengan motion preposition yang paling tepat dari 4 alternatif yang disediakan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa high-tech animation secara intrinsik tidak lebih baik daripada low-tech animation. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa “kecanggihan alat teknologi” animasi tidak menjamin keefektivannya dalam menunjang pembelajaran; tetapi “desain” animasi (bukannya kecanggihan alat teknologinya) lebih menentukan keefektivan pembelajaran. Jadi, agar mampu menunjang pembelajaran, animasi harus didesain secara tepat, terlepas dari tingkat kecanggihan alat teknologi presentasinya.

Abstract

Security market is part of financial market, commonly called capital market. Security market trades long-term financial instruments, such as bonds and stocks. In the security market, accounting or financial information has an important role either partial or integral that stimulates investors in investment decision making, then in turn influence security market reaction. This reaction can be seen from the changing of security price and volume traded. Accounting information that persuades security market reaction regularly is called useful information. This information is able to assist users in decision making. To meet the requirements, the information has to have characteristics such as comparable, relevant, reliable, and material. The market that react the information quickly is called efficient security market. Unfortunately, this efficient market frequently is affected by morale hazard and asymmetrical information. To avoid this problem, the information provided in security market should be useful and understood easily. Two contradictory security characteristics are possible to happen in investment decision making, that is to say as risky and non-risky securities. Repayment for non-risky security can be determined, and this includes investment in bonds and treasury stocks. The problems are able to happen in risky investment decision making in which its repayment cannot be determined. Markowitz proposes the use of portfolios as a mode to solve problems of these risky investments. These portfolios consist of bunch of diversified securities, either risky or non-risky. According to theory, a profitable portfolio is able to provide a certain amount of repayment compare to a little risk. As a consequence, an investor has to have capability to select and decide among profitable portfolios.

Abstract

This article as a theoretical studies about implementation of living values method in religious studies based on multiculturalism. The objective of this article are to develop religious studies based on multiculturalism in method aspect. Substantively, religious studies based on multiculturalism consist of values which emphasis apreasiation of religious diversity. That values have to be internalized throught living values method.
