PENINGKATAN PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE GURU MATEMATIKA DAN PRAKTIKNYA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MELALUI MODEL PELATIHAN TEQIP

Abstract

Abstract: The Improvement of the Pedagogical Content Knowledge of Mathematics Teachers and Their Teaching Practices Using TEQIP Model. This study was carried out to improve the pedagogical content knowledge of mathematics teachers and their teaching practices in mathematics class in reference to Teachers Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) Model. TEQIP is an in-service training model with meaningfull learning and integrated lesson study. The study was conducted for four years (2010-2014) on 1000 matematics teachers sprawling in 14 provinces across Indonesia. TEQIP activities were focused on pedagogic and content knowledge improvement with five kinds of activities and teaching practice im­provement in mathematics classes. The results suggest (1) the improvement of matematics content knowl­edge (39.45 points) and problem solving competence (47.48 points); (2) the improvement of pedagogic knowledge—teaching and learning model (25 points), assesment (32.5 points), learning media (42.25 points), and mathematical error case study (27.5 points); and (3) the improvement of teaching and learning practices—motivating the students (1.45 points), using learning media (2.05 points), meaningfull learning (1.87 points), having learning interaction (1.65 points), and giving due responses to learning problems (1.23 points).Keywords: pedagogical content knowledge, mathematics teachers, TEQIPAbstrak: Peningkatan Pedagogical Content Knowledge Guru Matematika dan Praktiknya dalam Pembelajaran Melalui Model Pelatihan TEQIP. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pedagogical content knowledge guru matematika dan praktiknya di dalam kelas melalui model pelatihan Teqip (Teachers Quality Improvement Program). Teqip merupakan model pelatihan guru melalui “pembelajaran bermakna” dan terintegrasi dengan lesson study. Penelitian dilakukan selama 4 tahun (2010 – 2013), melibatkan 1.000 guru matematika sekolah dasar di 14 provinsi di Indonesia. Kegiatan Teqip dilakukan dalam 5 tahap penguatan pengetahuan pedagogik & konten dan 5 tahap penguatan praktik pembela­jaran di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan penguasaan materi matematika 39,45 poin dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah 47,48. Ada peningkatan kemampuan pedagogik mencakup penguasaan: pembelajaran 25 poin, assesmen pembelajaran 32,5 poin, media pembelajaran 42,25 poin, menindaklanjuti kasus kesalahan konsep matematika 27,5 poin. Ada pening­katan skor rata-rata praktik pembelajaran: memotivasi siswa 1,45; memanfaatkan media 2,05; melak­sanakan pembelajaran bermakna 1,87; membangun interaksi 1,65; dan mengatasi masalah 1,23.Kata kunci: pedagogical content knowledge, guru matematika, TEQIP

Abstract

Abstract: Mentoring Academic Writing. This article reports on a self-reflective narrative study within the context of Indonesian academia. This reflective undertaking encompasses two domains shap­ing my narratives: 1) conceptual understanding on academic discourse gatekeeping, and 2) identification of some issues around the practice of academic writing, which directly or indirectly connects to thesis ad­visement and examination. These two areas in turn warrant the presentation of comparative points for the purpose of self-critique in view of shared reflections on academic practices for further productive dia­logues. Despite the fact that some points sound somewhat prescriptive, the main view in this piece of writing is that there is no one-fits-all regulation in writing. Therefore, the historicity of this writing needs attending to in reading the reflective points presented in this writing in order to allow for empowering mentoring practices in view of publication.Keywords: mentoring, academic writing, supervisor, academic discourse gate-keepingAbstrak: Mentoring Penulisan Karya Ilmiah. Tulisan ini merupakan kegiatan reflektif yang sering dikenal sebagai self-reflective narrative study dalam konteks budaya akademik di Indonesia. Kegiatan reflektif ini dilakukan pada dua wilayah yang membentuk naratif saya sebagai penulis: 1) bangunan pemahaman konseptual tentang penjagaan wacana akademik, dan 2) identifikasi beberapa isu praktek akademik seputar penulisan karya ilmiah yang secara langsung maupun tidak langsung berhubungan dengan kegiatan pembimbingan dan ujian skripsi/tesis berdasar observasi personal. Kedua wilayah ini kemudian menghadirkan perlunya presentasi poin komparatif rangka otokritik untuk refleksi bersama atas praktek-praktek akademik yang ada guna membuka dialog lebih jauh. Meskipun beberapa poin mungkin terasa agak preskriptif, namun pandangan utama dalam tulisan ini adalah bahwa tidak ada aturan penulisan yang berlaku umum. Oleh karena itu, historisitas tulisan ini tetap perlu digunakan se­bagai patokan dalam membaca poin-poin reflektif yang tertuang dalam tulisan ini dalam rangka untuk menuju proses-proses mentoring yang lebih memberdayakan, yang mengarah pada publikasi.Kata kunci: mentoring, karya ilmiah, pembimbing, penjaga wacana akademik

Abstract

Abstract: Characteristics of Students’ Metacognition based on Personality Type in Solving Mathe­matical Problems. The purpose of this explorative study was to find out the characteristics of students’ metacognition of guardian, rational, artisan and idealist types in dealing with mathematical problems. Four Year-11 subjects of a senior high school were involved in the study, one representing guardian type, one rational type, one artisan type, and one idealist type. The results showed that various characteristic types of students’ metacognition in guardian, rational, artisan and idealist were differently utilized in dealing with mathematical problems.Keywords: metacognition, personality type, mathematic problemAbstrak: Karakteristik Metakognisi Siswa Ditinjau dari Tipe Kepribadian dalam Memecahkan Masalah Matematika. Artikel hasil penelitian ini memaparkan karakteristik metakognisi siswa dalam memecahkan permasalahan matematika berdasarkan empat tipe kepribadian, yaitu guardian, rational, artisan, dan idealist. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif eksploratif, dengan subjek penelitian terdiri atas satu siswa untuk setiap tipe kepribadian, yaitu siswa kelas sebelas SMA. Hasil penelitian meng­ungkap bahwa terdapat perbedaan karakteristik metakognisi siswa dalam memecahkan masalah mate­matika berdasarkan kate­gori tipe kepribadian.Kata kunci: metakognisi, tipe kepribadian, masalah matematika

Abstract

Abstract: Instructional Design of Call: A Perspective of Flexibility, Learning Goal, and Computer Roles. The purpose of this study is to review instructional design (ID) used in computer assisted language learning (CALL) studies. The Eight models of ID derived from three different dimensions of online learning, namely: learning content delivery (flexibility), learning goal, and computer roles serve as the basis of analysis for the corpus CALL-related articles which become the source of data. A hundred and forty-seven articles were reviewed resulting in eighty-six articles matching the curent study. The findings show that 5 out of eight models emerge in the CALL literature. Details about learning flexibility and computer roles are discussed in the article.Key words: CALL, instructional design, typology, flexibilityAbstrak: Desain Pembelajaran Bahasa berbasis Computer. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengulas rancangan pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam penelitian bertemakan pembelajaran berbasis komputer. Delapan tipologi rancangan pembelajaran berbasis kom­puter dijadikan landasan untuk menganalisis korpus data (artikel) yang berhasil dikumpulkan dari berbagai jurnal. Tipologi tersebut diturunkan dari tiga dimensi pembelajaran daring (online). Sebanyak 147 artikel berhasil diunduh namun hanya 86 artikel yang layak untuk menjadi sumber data. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa 5 dari 8 tipologi berhasil diidentifikasi. Diskusi berkaitan dengan pembelajaran fleksibel dan peran komputer dibahas lebih lengkap di bagian pembahasan.Kata kunci: CALL, instructional design, typology, flexibility

Abstract

Abstract: Teaching-learning of Argument Reasoning Using Concept-mapping to Remedy Miscon­ception of the Chemical Reaction Rate. This study aimed to identify the kinds of misconseptions and the way to minimize the misconceptions. Concept-mapping regarding the topic of chemical reaction rate was used. The study was carried out by implementing a pre-experimental design with pretest-posttest model. The subjects of the study were the 1st semester students of Chemical Education, FKIP-UNTAD. The stu­dents’ misconceptions were analyzed using Certainty Response Index (CRI). The results of the analysis show that the students’ misconceptions of chemical reaction rate declined from 28.9%, in the pretest to 14.7% in the post test, or reduced by as much as 14.2% in average. Based on this result, it can be con­cluded that the implementation of the model was effective to minimize the students’misconceptions of the rate of chemical reaction.Keywords: misconception, reasoning, arguments, concept mappingAbstrak. Pembelajaran Penalaran Argumen Berbasis Peta Konsep untuk Remediasi Miskonsepsi Laju Reaksi Kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui jenis miskonsepsi mahasiswa dan reduksi miskonsepsi setelah dilakukan pembelajaran penalaran argumen berbasis peta konsep pada materi laju reaksi kimia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pre-experimental design dengan rancangan one group pretest-postest, dan subjek penelitiannya adalah mahasiswa semester I Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia FKIP Untad. Miskonsepsi mahasiswa dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode CRI (Certainty of Re­sponse Index). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan miskonsepsi mahasiswa pada laju reaksi kimia mengalami reduksi sebesar 14,2% dari rata-rata 28,9% pada pre-test menjadi 14,7% pada post-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, pembelajaran dengan penalaran argumen berbasis peta konsep dapat mereduksi miskonsepsi mahasiswa pada materi laju reaksi kimia.Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, penalaran, argumen, peta konsep

Abstract

Although there are many aspects responsible for the quality of education, teachers are usually considered as the most responsible ones for the low students achievement. To help the teachers perform professionally, an empowerment program for teachers should be conducted. Based on the analysis on some aspects related to teachers, an empowerment program consisting of two components is developed. The first component, competency empowerment, proposes six ideas, i.e. improve the student recruitment system, improve teachers reading ability and reading interest, presenting models, focus the training program on teachers needs, encourage teachers to conduct classroom action research, and develop habit of scientific discussion. Abstract

This article examines the obstacles faced by tertiary educational institutions in building professionalism based on aspects of legislation in Indonesia. It is clear that the institutions have to be developed professionally in accordance with the global era. In the future, these institutions will be demanded to implement comprehensive functions as a center of culture, agent of social change and modernization, place for institutionalization and so on. The institutions have to be organized professionally, but the institutions face several legislative obstacles and bureaucratic procedures. This article proposes reform of leagislations and the debureaucratization in managing tertiary educational institutions. This reform should be done to build the professionalism

Abstract

Most Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) are private educational institutions and had been institutionalized long before the existence of madrasah and all kinds of western education systems in Indonesia. The Islamic boarding schools perform themselves as centers for developing Indonesian man-power, inoculating the spirit of enterpreneurship, organizing agro-religious tourism activities, and developing strong relationships or good cynergetic activities with members of community surrounding the pesantrens. To develop and organize new schools or universities in the future, we can adopt the spirit of self-help or self-support as the heart of pesantrens doctrine. In other words, the essence of pesantrens system can be implemented in our system of national education
