Abstract

Education in Indonesia should be directed to the actual needs of society, for today and tomorrow. Curriculum should contain an appropriate portion of technology which meets the future needs of society. The special nature of industrial arts allows it to have far reaching relationships with other subject areas; serve as a means of developing knowledge, enable students to examine technological alternatives to societal problems; provide an opportunity to explore change as an element of life; and help students explore how they can make a contribution in a future society. By looking into the future, people may be more adequately attuned to the life experiences of the world in which they are about to live

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study variations of lecturers-teaching style according to students appreciations and the post expected teaching style. Data were gathered from 460 students of Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) by using questionnaire and interview. Percentage and mean measures were applied to analyze the data. The results showed that lecturer-teaching style such as planner, developer, model, facilitator, and guidance were not consistently demonstrated. In opposite from these findings, the students hope that the lecturer-teaching style were consistently held. Furthermore, the lecturers were expected to consistently develop their teaching style to reach educational goals

Abstract

This research aims to investigate and then describe students" efforts in acquiring literature sources to support their study, lecturers" activities to show the source books to be read by students as indicated in the course outline of the subjects they are responsible for, and the availability of the books which are needed by the students in the library of FKIP UNSRI Indralaya. The sample consisted of 90 students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Sriwijaya University. The data collected through documentation study and quetionnaire were descriptively analyzed. The result shows that students efforts are good enough, but lecturers activities and the availability of the books are not satisfactory

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out a model of developmental guidance and counseling (GC) in elementary schools. This study was conducted in four stages: development of a hypothetical model, judgment of the model, try out of the model, and development of the recommended model. As a result, the model of developmental GC consists of vision and mission, developmental tasks and needs of elementary school students, purposes of GC services, scope of guidance activities, and system support. Implementation of GC programs is integrated in all educational activities especially in teaching learning process. The Developmental GC Model is effective to improve the developmental tasks and achievement of students

Abstract

The study was intended to develop students audience/purpose awareness in writing through the implementation of audience/purpose-related writing activities. A collaborative-action-research design was employed, involving 2 researchers and 2 elementary school teachers. Thirty three (33) fourth-graders of elementary school participated in the study. Data in the form of students writings were collected in the first and second terms of the 1999/2000 school year, which were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings suggest that at the end of the second cycle of the action research the students ability develops, which is indicated in the audience adaptations found in their writings and in the use of appropriate genre and register

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know how much the fifth year students of elementary schools know about prayers in Islam and their praying activities. The sample included 240 fifth graders of SDN in Palembang. Data were collected using test, questionnaire, and observation. The result indicates that the knowledge of the fifth year student of SD Negeri Palembang about prayer falls into insuccifient category. The methods used by the teacher were lecture, dialog, tasks, and practice. The praying activities of the students fall into worse category

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to investigate the teachers ability in teaching Handcraft and Arts (KTK). This research was conducted by observing and interviewing 400 elementary school teachers in Makassar Municipality. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics.The result of data analysis indicate that, in general, most of the teachers have insufficient ability in teaching KTK. They have insufficient ability in analyzing the KTK curriculum, in making instructional preparation, in implementing the instructional preparation, and in evaluating their instructional programs
