Abstract

This study attempted to explore teachers attitudes toward the role of multicultural studies in reducing students prejudice in an ethnically diverse classroom. An interpretive case study approach was applied in the project. The subjects were primary school teachers who had teaching experience in multicultural classrooms. Data were collected by interviews, analyzed by using a thematic analysis and then validated by extracts from the teachers reflective writing. The findings of this research showed that teachers had positive attitudes toward therole of multicultural studies in reducing students prejudice. Teachers clearly believed in the value of teaching multicultural studies for prejudiced students

Abstract

This study was aimed at knowing the job skill practices (PKL) managed by the Secondary Schools of Technology (STM) in cooperation with PT PAL Indonesia and BLPT Surabaya based on the dual system of education. The population was students of STM Perkapalan, STM Negeri Surabaya and Sidoarjo. Observations, tests, and document analysis were used in gathering data. It was found out that there was a high revevance between practical materials and job skills needed by the STM Students, and their final achievement in the job skill practices (PKL) was relatively good

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the dual system of education implemented by vocational secondary schools (SMK) and their counterparts, especially in student selection, instructional process, evaluation, and the students and instructors readliness. The sample consisted of 68 SMK students from 17 departments of SMK and 34 instructors from 17 industrial institutions in Malang Municipality. Data were collected by administering a questionnaire. The results revealed that there was no selection applied to recruit the SMK students. The delivery system, training materials, evaluation of students performance, and the students and instructors readliness were good enough, but the training facilities were inadequate

Abstract

This experimental study was aimed at testing the effectiveness of learning services model in regular classrooms and special classrooms for students experiencing learning difficulties in Mathematics. A factorial design was implemented in this study. The subjects consisted of 150 students drawn from 171 students of 12 State Primary Schools (SDN) in Surakarta Municipality. Data were collected by achievement test, intelligence test, and documentary studies. The analysis of covariance and Scheffe test were applied to analyse the data. It was concluded that learning services in regular and special classrooms were more effective than those in normal classrooms to help students ecperiencing learning difficulties in Mathematics

Abstract

This research was designed to describe the learning-teaching in processes in Stenography as implemented by the Vocational Secondary Schools of Business and Management (SMK Bisnis dan Manajemen). The sample consisted of 14 teachers of Stenography taken purpossively from state and private SMK in Malang. Data were gathered by using an interview guide and observations, and analysed descriptively in persentage measures. It was concluded that in general the components of learning-teaching process in Stenography was good enough. Most pf Stenography teachers have had academic and professional qualification, applied adequate methods of teaching, selected assessment strategies properly, and involved all aspects of Stenography in evaluation processes.

Abstract

The main purpose of this correlational study was to test the relationship between teachers self concept and work satisfaction, and their attitudes toward teaching-learning process. The sample consisted of 102 teachers taken purposively from 8 State Senior High Schools (SMUN) out of 15 State Senior High Schools (SMUN) in Palembang Municipality. The data were collected by questionnaire. It could be concluded that there was a positive correlation between teachers self concept and work satisfaction, and their attitudes toward learning-teaching process. It was suggested that there be a counseling or other special traetments for teachers with negative self concept
