Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the profile of physical education teachers of Senior High School (SMU) in terms of their status, experience, and teaching load. The sample were 38 physical education teachers of Senior High School in Malang. Data were collected by observation and questionnaire, and analyzed in descriptive level by percentages and Chi-square. The results revealed that 66,33% of the teachers had achieved a good performance in teaching-learning process. There were no differences in teaching performance between part-time teachers and full-time teachers, between experienced teachers and inexperinced teachers, and between teachers with low load (< 18 hours/week) and techers with high load (>= 18 hours/week)

Abstract

This study is designed to know the problems faced by elementary school teachers to get a promotion by the credit points system, their abilities in doing activities evaluated by the system, and their suggestions on its implementation. The population is elementary school teachers in Depok, Sleman. A sample of 246 teachers is drawn randomly from the population. Data are collected by administering a questionnaire, and analyzed in percentages. The result shows that there are internal andexternal-bureaucratic problems faced by the teachers. According to the teachers, it is easy to teach, to guide their pupils, and to do other supportive activities. Professional development is supposed to be a difficult activity. They suggest that there must be a deregulation in promotion proposal and an automatic promotion system

Abstract

This study was designed to describe the graduates of the secondary school of tourism industry (SMIP) and their chance to get a job. The object of this research was SMIP in Surabaya, and the subjects were administrators and graduates of SMIP, managers of tourism industry, and other related institutions. Data were collected by interviews, questionnaire, and documentaries, and analyzed in percentages. The findings of this research showed that: there were two department in SMIP, the department of tourism business and the department of hotel affairs; the relationship between SMIP and the government and private institutions was good enough; most of SMIP graduates have got jobs

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore new concepts on foundations of education and possibilities to build an Indonesian Paedagogy. The main finding is that education must based on our national culture. The government initiative is needed to build an Indonesian Paedagogy. In this globalization era there will be transitions in educational paradigms from school education toward school and out-of-school education. The out-of-school education must be managed intensively as well as the school education. Education in this globalization era emphasizes the importance of science and technology. There must be a synchronization of Religion Education, Pancasila Education and Citizanship, and an emphasis on its implementation in daily life. To educate is to create a situation so that students learn by their own motivation

Abstract

This study is a comparative study of an evaluation system between concept mapping essay test and multiple choice test on students achievement in science. The study was carried out at primary schools in Cianjur. A sample of 100 students was taken by stratified random sampling method. This sample was then divided into two groups consisting of 50 students each. A two-way Anova and Tukey methods were used to test hypotheses. The result of the study revealed that concept mapping essay test resulted in a higher students science achievement than multiple choice test. For students with high verbal reasoning, implementation of concept mapping essay test resulted in a higher students achievement in science compared to those applying the multiple choice test. For students with low verbal reasoning, the implementation of concept mapping essay test did not exert a significant difference in their achievement compared to the group of multiple choice test

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to explore values applied by students in choosing a career and the ways in which the counselors help students in choosing a career and the ways in which the councelors help students use the choices. This study applied qualitative method. Data were collected by participatory observations and indepth interviews with students, their parents, and the councelors of Senior High Schools (SMU) in Malang, Sidoarjo, and Probolinggo. It was concluded taht the students successful in their career applied their personal, social, vacational, educational, leasure-time, religious, and democratic values in choosinga career. The approach applied by the councelors in helping their students was the Process Skill Approach, and the methods used were lecture, dialog or discussion, clarification, assignments, study tour, role playing, and career day
