Abstract

Almost all hinger education institutions issue their own scientific publications in the form of periodicals with varying degree of contents and formats. Since some institutions publish up to more than ten periodicals, there are now a lot of periodicals which claim to be field of educational science. It is discovered that not all of them could be traditionally adopted by scientific journal.

Abstract

There was a misconception among public over the nature of distance learning (PJJ). Many people considered PJJ as merely a correspondent institution. Fortunately, this misconception is vanishing. Not only does PJJ have much of the advantages of a convensional university, it has also the capacity of accepting a lot of students who otherwise have no opportunity to attend higher education. PJJ such as UT is cost effective and efficient. Yet JPP does have a weak point in high rate of attrition. Now, by taking active participation in research and development activities, PJJ begins to find out that there are certain education models which could elevate learning motivation and which might reduce attrition rate among the students of PJJ.

Abstract

Many junior secondary dropouts and many junior secondary graduates who do not go to senior secondary school create a lot of young people who are unprepared to join the work force. Yet it is against the reguation to establish junior secondary school. The problem is solved by establishing skill oriented junior secondary school. Though still semi-skilled their graduates could easily join the work force. There are minor legal problem for the establishment of such kind of school, but this problem rests more in legal interpretation rather than their material. Some additional ministerial decress could solve this problem.

Abstract

Although several schools already have guidance and counceling personals, yet many of them do not have ones. In serving students at schools, teachers and guidance and counceling personals do not practice the knowledge they learnt before while many students do not fully appreciate the service of guidance and counceling personals. In the field of research, many researchers merely repeat the common topics without innovation and creativities. And in Indonesian society with its multiethnicities, multicultures, multidialects, and so on, it is imperative for the guidance and counceling personals to have an research agenda.

Abstract

The teaching of science is in many instances resorting to memorization. It is imperative to alter this kind of teaching of science such that it concerns with comprehension, human exixtence, and society. Research can enhance the way science is taught to the students while the achievement of the study of science among students.

Abstract

The achievements in the studies of mathematics at the junior and senior secondary schools in Ujung Pandang is quite low. It seems that the teaching of mathematics at those schools do not meet the requirement of proper mathematics teaching. Not only the students do not sufficiently master the prerequisite of learning later topics in mathematics, the teaching competencies of mathematics teachers are also quite insufficient. Learning school mathematics should meet the requirement of learning hierarchies, while researches in the teaching of mathematics are important in improving the methods of the teaching of school mathematics.
