Abstract

Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa pengalaman dalam pengajaran. Pertama, sering terjadi kegagalan dalam pembelajaran karena tidak disadari bahwa komunikasi yang terjadi berjalan tak efektif. Kedua, kemampuan berkomunikasi yang sangat berpengaruh diduga dari pengajar, ternyata terjadi dua arah yakni pengajar dan peserta didik. Ketiga, kemampuan komunikasi ternyata dapat dilatih dan kemampuan komunikasi perlu penyesuian. Sebagian dari kondisi di atas bermuara pada komunikasi yang kurang terasah dan terlatih sehingga berjalan kurang efektif. Bila komunikasi yang terjadi kurang efektif dapat berakibat pada kemandirian belajar peserta didik tak memadai. Karena melalui komunikasi yang efektif diharapkan tujuan-tujuan dalam pembelajaran dapat tercapai. Kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang baik tentunya dapat dilakukan bila percaya diri pada peserta didik ada. Karena itu, salah satu upaya membangun percaya diri peserta didik dapat dilakukan dengan cara  meningkatkan kemandirian peserta didik. Kata Kunci: Kemandirian belajar, komunikasi matematik, dan nilai

Abstract

The aims of this research were to investigate development processes and to know the reason  that student pushes to changes her representation idea in problem solving. Representations developmental path in solving problem at starts by building imagery in imagistics system drawned out by verbal representation by forms representation of rethoricas equation, and develops it as equation syncopated. She does several times change her representation. The Changing of representation impelled by imagistic tactile system; imbalance in cognitive stucture, comptency of information assimilation on problem, ordinary procedure utilized by respondent in solving problem, and characters and equality relationship of algebra or arithmeticas structures.   Keywords : representations

Abstract

The purposes of the research is to know the effect using media of comic toward student achievement learning in class X SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak for electrolit solution and non electrolit solution. The research uses experiment method and design research is “ Pretest Posttest Control Group Design”. The subject research are student calss XE and XF, using purposive sampling to take the sample. The technique is used to gather the data is student achievement. Based on the data analisis using U-Mann Whitney test, 5 % level signification is found  that     Z count=-5,56 <  Z tabel -1,96, there is the difference students learning achievement between using comic media and praktikum metod. There are 96,97 % student get higger learning achievement and get the KKM. The Effect size is 1,82, means learning using comic media give big effect 46,56 % towards the higger student achievement student class X SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak. The respon 30 students class XE towards learning electrolit solution and non electrolit solution using media of comic is 95,87 %. This is shows that learning using comic media is effective to teach electrolit solution and non electrolit solution in class X SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak.  Keywords : electrolit solution and non electrolit solution, comic media, praktikum

Abstract

Science education can be developed based on the uniqueness and superiority of a region, including technology, culture and local (traditional). This study aims to identify and describe local cultural and technological environment of traditional agricultural communities the Malays and Dayaks in Pontianak regency still believed and used in maintaining life, and integrate the local culture and technology in the development of science-based learning the local culture. Qualitative approach to ethnographic studies (etnosains and etnoteknologi study) with emphasis on critical studies and interpretive conducted in order to explore local culture and technological environment of traditional agricultural communities the Malays and Dayaks in observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The results showed that in culture and traditional local technology community agricultural environment Malays and Dayak tribes identified science concepts that can be developed in science learning in schools. Abstract

The low student understanding of concepts on the topic due to lack of acid base interaction with the material studied. This study aims to determine the conception of students, student influence and respond to the model after learning problems set Posing think pair share. The sample in this study is the students who attend a course basic chemistry II 2008/2009 school year in chemical education courses totaling UNTAN FKIP 23 people with a form of research design quasy experiment. Data collection techniques used is about the shape of the test and questionnaire response essays. The results showed that there are significant differences abilities before learning concepts with students after learning. The amount of influence of 7.49 with a very high category. Conceptions of students in accordance with the concept of the experts increased by 52.9%. Students respond positively to the learning model of cooperative problem set type possing think pair share.Kata Kunci: Asam basa, Problem Posing, Kooperatif, Think Pair Share.

Abstract

Teachers’ understanding on the nature of science will determine types of students learning activities in the class. In designing a science teaching-learning process meaningfully, a teacher should consider and pay attention to the learning activities. They are (1) logical plane activities; (2) evidental or experiental plane activities; (3) psychological plane activities. A science text-books centered teaching should be modified because, the students comprehension about science products (concept and principles) could not be developed meaningfully by using text-books only. This culture is also contrary with the nature of science and is not  able to build a science and technology literate people.Key words: Teacher’s understanding; learning activities

Abstract

The purposes of the research is to obtain effect the using of STAD cooperative learning method and T-P-S toward student achievement from scientific attitude. The research used experiment method. The result of the data analysis based on  5 % level signification were found  that: 1) Fcount = 9,2289 in effect of learning method toward students achievement, Fcount = 8,7450 in effect of  scientific attitude toward students achievement, Fcount = 4,5246 in interaction between method and scientific attitude for cognitive aspect data while Ftabel = 3,97, 2) Fcount = 5,4759 in effect of learning method toward students achievement, Fcount = 29,9671 in effect of  scientific attitude toward students achievement, Fcount = 5,2476 in interaction between method and scientific attitude for afective aspect data while Ftabel = 3,97. The conclusion of this research are : 1) student achievement that using cooperative learning type STAD is better than T-P-S type both of cognitive and affective aspect, 2) the students who have high science attitude get student achievement better than the students who have low science attitude both of cognitive and affective aspect, 3) learning method STAD and T-P-S have different effect toward student achievement to student groups who have different science attitude.Keywords : Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD), Think Pair Share (T-P-S), Scientific attitude.

Abstract

Early age is generally the period of playing for children. The interaction among them when they are playing together actually shows social values. The values such as helping each other, togetherness are built up within them when they are playing. This social system consists of children activities where their interaction, contact, and togetherness are based on certain patterns. Abstract

The problems of incorrect concepts (misconception) often occurred in Biology learning, especially the abstract concepts. This research is aimed to find the misconception occurred in basic concept of First Semester Biology Students in Biology Education Study Program. Explorative description is used in this research. The subject of this research is 21 persons that are first year students 2008/2009. Diagnostic-test in multiple choices with reasonable answers is the instruments of this research. The misconception in first semester students in Biology education is the highest in the respiratory system of living organisms as 90,48%. Students that state sticking and implanting includes in vegetative artificial reproduction is about 85,71%, and red and yellow colors in Bougainville flower in corolla and calyx is about 80,95%. The cause of misconception is reading book and the explanation they accept. By the early finding of the misconception occurred in students, it is suggested the teachers that teach Basic Biology or related with the concept; the vegetative artificial reproduction, respiration, photosynthesis, dependency among living organisms, and flower morphology so it can be chosen appropriate and price method/strategy in making the lecturing process.Keyword: Misconception, Basic Concept Biology

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the improvement of critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students  on Ecosystem and Biodiversity concepts after  applying practicum based learning. The method of this research is quasi-experiment with the one group pretest-postest design. The sample were 2nd semester pre-service teacher students at biology education department that following the Environmental Science Course at FKIP Tanjungpura University, consist of 34 students. Data were collected through multiple choice test with reasoning and essay test, and were analyzed by using mean-difference test and normalized gain score. The result of gain score show that critical thinking ability were improve (0,39) through this learning model. Conclusion of this research, practicum based learning give positive influence to critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students.Keywords : practicum based learning, critical thinking ability
