Abstract

Before 20th  centuries human, including scientist, considered that the sea has non limited capability in absorbed all effluent entering the sea. This argument based on the assumption that the sea has a huge capacity to carry all loading materials. There is no matter if we put all the garbage in. The subject of the research is to analyse pollution load, to present the pollution status of TAD waters and to make a spatial pollution area of TAD. Analysis methods for pollution load used: mass balance and rapid assessment; for pollution status used storet method. For organic matter analysis used NO3 method, oil and grease and COD indicators already passed the threshold for marine biota’s. The model of pollution load base on TSS gave a higher relationship compare by the other indicator, whereas the TAD status was concluded in D class with bad category or heavy contaminated.Keywords: Organic matter, pollution load, spatial distribution

Abstract

The aims of the research were to study the influence of tail amputation and its connection with thegonad maturity index and the growth of nila fish.  The experiment consist of three treatments and six replicates for each treatment.  Treatment A represent control with no tail cut.  Treatment B, fish with tail cut from the middle part of the tail, and treatment C, fish that had tail cut from the last vertebrae (no tail at all).  Block Randomized Design using 180 fish with age of 2 months old.  Variable perceived at this research was growth and gonad maturity index of the fish.  Quantitative data will be analysed using Analysis of Varians (ANOVA).  The result demonstrated that the amputation of fish tail will enhance growth and gonad maturity of Oreochromis niloticus. Abstract

The objectives of this experiment was to find out micro flora that have proteolitic and amylolytic activity in the intestine giant gouramy. Isolated in aerobe and anaerobe condition eighth Tripticase Soy Broth (TSB, Merck) as a culture medium added NaCl 1% with casein as an energy source for proteolitic and starch for amylolitic, pH 7 and incubation temperature 29ºC. Isolate purified is done with 102 to 1010 dilution series, than transfer to Tripticase Soy Agar (TSA). Identified pure isolate in a physiology and biochemistry manner. The intestine giant gouramy obtained 12 isolate consist 4 isolate aerob proteolitic microbe (Staphylococcus sp., Clostridium sp., Bacillus sp. and Moraxella sp.), 2 anaerob proteolitic microbe isolate (Nitrococcus sp. dan Aeromonas sp.), 3 aerob amylolitic microbe isolate (Mycobacterium sp. Lactobacillus sp. dan Aeromonas sp.), and 3 anaerob amylolitic microbe isolate (Carnobacterium sp., Citrobacter sp. and Streptococcus sp.). Abstract

Temperature is one of the water quality parameters which significantly affect growth and survival of aquatic species particularly at early stages. The study is intended to evaluated growth and survival of seahorse (H. barbourie) reared under different temperature levels. Experimental containers were 12 L capacity buckets filled with 5 L sterile treated seawater, equipped with aeration system, a shelter and thermostat. Two days old healthy seahorse larvae were stock at density 1 ind/L. The larvae were fed with enriched Artemia nauplii at density of 1 – 2 ind/mL once per day after water exchange. Temperature levels examined in the study as treatment were 26oC (A), 29oC (B) and 32oC (C) and each treatment was triplicate. To determine effect of temperature on growth and survival rate of seahorse larvae, the data were analyzed statistically. Growth of larvae reared at different temperature varied greatly both in absolute growth in weight (g) and absolute growth in length (cm). Statistical analysis results indicated absolute growth in weight (g) and length (cm) of larvae reared at 26ºC significantly higher than those larvae reared in temperature 29ºC and 32ºC. Meanwhile, survival rate (%) of seahorse larvae reared at different temperature levels vary considerably but statistically not significant different. Results of the study suggested that rearing of seahorse (H. barbourie) larvae at temperature level of 26oC will give better results in terms of absolute growth in weight and length, as well as survival rate (%) of the larvae compared to other two temperature (29oC and 32oC) examined in this study. Abstract

The objectives of the research were to know the fisheries aspects   and to analyze the distribution pattern  of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) in Bone Gulf waters where  the research has been done from March until September 2009.  The fisheries aspect was analyzed by using descriptive method, while the distribution pattern of skipjack tuna was analyzed by using spatial data processing sofware such as : SeaWiFS Data Analysis System (SEADAS), ERDAS Imagine versi 9.0,  ArrcGIS 9/ GMT 3.3, and Adobe Photoshop v.7. There were two kinds of data used in this research i.e : secondary data (skipjack production annually from Fisheries Office and oceanography data from NASA database). The result of the research showed that  skipjack tuna hold a role important in fishery of Gulf of Bone and their distribution varie according to the season or month where the shoal of skipjack tuna, on April,  predicted will have been   at north of Gulf of Bone, especially ,around of Luwu district waters and south part of Gulf of Bone, especially, around of Bone district waters. On May, skipjack tuna shoal predicted have been  at north part of Bone Gulf particullary, around of Luwu Timur, Luwu Utara, Palopo dan Luwu district waters.  On June and July, shoal of skipjack tuna predicted have been at north part of Gulf of Bone, around of Luwu, Palopo, Luwu Utara, Luwu Timur and Kolaka (Soth East Sulawesi) waters. On August, shoal of skipjack tuna predicted have been at north, centre, and south part of Gulf of Bone i.e, around Luwu Utara, Palopo and Luwu districs waters and Bone district waters. Abstract

Using binder in producing artificial feed is significanly needs for water stability of feed. One of the feed binder using in producing shrimp feed is seaweed. The aims of the research is to evaluate the species of seaweed that has better effect as material for shrimp feed binder according to physical and chemical characteristic. The research design used Complete Randomized Design with four treatments and three replicates. The treatments consist of Eucheuma denticulatum, Kappaphycus alvarezii powder and commercial feed as control. Physical parameter of the feed was examined physical, include water stability of feed, hardness, homogenity, the droughning speed, atractant, and feed appetite. The chemical analizys of the feed including examine protein, lipid, and procsimate analysis were done. The result of physical and chemical analysis to the feed in term of variaty of seaweed species shown that the binder from seaweed has better result than artificial feed comercial shrimp. The species of seaweed, G. gigas is better result as binder in shrimp feed. The prosimate analisys has shown the nutrition contain in all feed has been examine, it still in range of tiger prawn.Keywords : Artificial feed, tiger prawn, binder, seaweed, physical dan chemical examine

Abstract

The aims of the research were to get more information on fishermans income from catching activity, processing in Small Scale Industry and the margin value of marketing industry using survey, interview and observation methods.  Sample collecting was done using cluster sampling.  Type of data collected was primary and secondary data.  The data was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative approach.  The results showed that income of blue crab fishermen from catching activity alone could reached as much as Rp. 644.660 per month with R/C Ratio value 2.35 in average.  From processing the crabs to become crab’s meat in Small Scale Industry, add the value of the product accompanied with quality and according with SOP, SSOP and labor absorption.  Marketing institution which concerned in channel I (Collector Fisherman) obtain margin as much as Rp. 2.000, (processing) obtained margin as much Rp. 5.250 and for marketing channel 2 (processing) obtain margin as much Rp. 7.250. Abstract

Further development of grouper culture facing the problems of unsucessful seed production, mostly due to high rate of larval deformity and mortality. Fortification of artificial feed with vitamin C and calcium is intended to increase vitality and improve vertebrae growth of orange spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides seed. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design consisted of 4 treatments in terms of diets fortified with vitamin C + calcium (A), Vitamin C (B), Calcium (C), and control (D), with 3 replicates each. The treatments were applied to 20 days old seed which was reared up to juvenile stage (D45). The growth rate of was checked at 5 days interval and survival rate was calculated based on mortality data when the experiment terminated. The results showed that the highest (p<0.05) survival rate (4.38%), growth (TL 17.37 mm, BW 75.21 mg), daily growth rate of body weight (6.48%) and deformity (3.18%) were obtained from the seeds fed vitamin C + calcium fortified diet. Abstract

The aim of research to analyze the microhabitat of parasite Diplectanum sp. on the gill of brown marbled grouper in floating net cage. The research was carried during Mei 2008. The sample was selected three times (once a week) during March. The sample was put into plastic bag with oxygen. Total sample was 36 fish with 11-15,5 cm long and weight 15 -150 g. Parasite identification and counting total parasite of fish gill was done at Laboratory of Parasite and Fish Diseases of Fishery Department, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. The data was analysis using Chi-Square test with SPSS 15. The results show that parasite distribution on microhabitat is not different right and left side of gill, but it is different between layer I, II, III and IV, between dorsal segment, medial and ventral, and between distal and proximal parts. Abstract

In the field of fishing, statistical method is the method that most often used in identification and classification of fish species. In this study the identification and classification of the lemuru’s shoal of Bali Strait is done based on acoustic descriptors. The results showed that the statistical methods of identification and classification of a shoal of fish can be done with accuracy 98.2%. Fish descriptors that are very involved in this process are the length, height, area, number of items,  elongation, the relative altitude, and the average energy density. Morphometric descriptors play a greater role in differentiating groups of shoal of fish. Key words: identification, classification, statistics, descriptors, lemuru
