When the first time appeared in 1999, Marina Chimica Acta was introduced as trilingual journal meaning that we can accept to publish articles in any kind of three languages such as bahasa Indonesia, English, and French. Starting April 2017, however, the publication has been made in English only, no more in bahasa Indonesia nor in French. Currently, Marina Chimica Acta is an international medium and occasional reviews of the publications of original studies (research papers) and occasional reviews in the field of marine chemistry. The journal will endeavor to cover all aspects, from chemical processes to theoretical and experimental work, and by providing a central channel of communication, to speed the flow of information in rapidly expanding disciplines. Submitted paper should be written in English.

Abstract

Crude extracts of sponge has been screened for its antibiofouling properties in fishpond and keramba floating net through several stages such as isolation, identification of attached organisms, bioactivity test of sponge crude extract using asbetic plate, 10 x 5 cm, coated with the extract. Those showing  antibiofouling activity is further tested of its toxicity upon larvae (Balanus amphitrite). The amount of organisms attached on asbetic plate is an activity indicator of sponge extract crude. Field observation was conducted for 40 days with 10 day interval. The result of sponge bioactive screening on attached organisms at floating net provide 8 species among others are; Asterospus sp, Clathria sp, Clathria reinwardi, Desmopasma sp, Dysidea sp,  Haliclona sp, Pericarax sp, dan  Jaspis sp, while in fishpond 4 species i.e;  Clathria sp,  Halichondria sp, Callyspongia sp, and  Jaspis sp  with value of LC50 in 24 consecutive hours as follows:  27,99 ppm; 87,57 ppm ; 112,62 ppm;  dan 117,63 ppm. Extract of  Clathria sp showed highest toxicity and its active fraction is in crude extract while  Halichondria sp is more in its aquoeus fraction. These bioactive components were estimated coming from terpenoid and phenolic acid derivatives.   Key words : Sponge, bioactive, antibiofouling, fishpond, keramba

Abstract

Artikel ini menyajikan hasil investigasi yang dilakukan pada penghilangan fenol dan 4-klorofenol dari lingkungan air dengan menggunakan karbon aktif tempurung kenari. adsorben dibuat dengan mengarangkan tempurung kenari menggunakan sekam padi dan arang yang terbentuk dipanaskan pada temperatur 200 oC . hasil yang diperoleh dengan ukuran 100 – 200 mesh diaktivasi pada suhu 500 oC. penentuan konsentrasi fenol dan 4-klorofenol yang teradsorpsi pada waktu kesetimbangan adsorpsi dijadikan dasar untuk mempelajari pengaruh ph dan konsentrasi awal terhadap efektivitas adsorpsi senyawa-senyawa fenol oleh karbon aktif tempurung kenari. Persamaan Freundlich dan Langmuir digunakan untuk mempelajari isotermal adsorpsi. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu optimum adsorpsi fenol dan 4-klorofenol oleh karbon aktif berturut-turut adalah 135 dan 150 menit, adsorpsi kedua senyawa fenol memenuhi persamaan laju orde dua semu dengan tetapan laju 0,082 dan 0,127 g mg-1 menit-1 berturut-turut untuk adsorpsi fenol dan 4-klorofenol. isotermal adsorpsi kedua senyawa fenol memenuhi persamaan langmuir dan freundlich. kapasitas adsorpsi fenol lebih besar dari kapasitas adsorpsi 4-klorofenol.   Kata kunci :   adsorpsi, fenol, 4-klorofenol, karbon aktif tempurung kenari, waktu kontak, kinetika, konsentrasi awal, dan  ph awal

Abstract

The aim of this research is to synthesize a derived pyrazolone chelate  ligand , 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-stearoyl-5-pyrazolone (HPMSP). The synthesis was conducted by disolving 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in 1,4-dioxane and was reflux with stearoyl  chloride at 100-120 0C for 30 minutes in which calcium hydroxide was used as a catalyst. The result showed that the crystals of HPMSP is reddish white in color that has melting point of 68-72 0C with   synthesis efficiency was 42,51%. The crystal structure was determined using IR-spectrophotometer with KBr pellet method  and by H-NMR spectrophotometer using  CDCl3 as a solvent. Katakunci : HPMSP, Ligan Kelat, Derivat Pirazolon

Abstract

This research is aimed to explore the distribution of some heavy metal such Pb, Cd, and Cu in sediment around the area of shallow water sea of Sumbawa Island with variety of sediment particles  diameter as follow : < 0 25 mm (fraction 1); 0,25 – 050 mm (fraction 2 ); and > 50 mm (fraction 3). The concentration of these metals was determined with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer  which gave a range of minimum and maximum  Concentration of Pb, Cd, dan Cu in unit mg/kg dry sediment such follow : 5.64-78.48; 0.74-11.05 ; 4.47-31.86. Among those 3 (three) observed metals, Cd shown a critical value because this value is above the maximum tolerance in all sampling location. Further, in the aspect of the sampling area Maluk has to put into consideration because in thi area the concentration of all observed heavy metals was already higher the tolerance values.   Keywords : Heavy metal, sediment, analysis, Sumbawa island

Abstract

Penelitian tentang interaksi ion Cu(II) dengan Chaetoceros calcitrans di lingkungan perairan laut telah dilakukan. Tahapan kerja yang dilakukan meliputi penyiapan fitoplankton uji C. calcitrans yang diisolasi dari alam lalu dikultur murni dalam medium Conwy, dan pemaparan berbagai konsentrasi ion Cu(II) untuk mengetahui pola pertumbuhan C. calcitrans. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu pertumbuhan optimum C. calcitrans diperoleh pada hari ke-9, sedangkan dampak pemaparan ion Cu(II) menunjukkan tren penurunan populasi berbanding lurus dengan kenaikan konsentrasi ion Cu(II) dengan pola yang bervariasi fungsi waktu pemeliharaan. Hasil pengukuran spektrofotometri serapan atom terhadap konsentrasi ion Cu(II) pada filtrat cenderung meningkat sejalan dengan kenaikan ketersediaan ion di dalam medium pertumbuhan.   Kata kunci : Interaksi, fitoplankton, tembaga(II), laut.

Abstract

Analisis logam berat Cu, Zn, dan Pb pada lamun Halodule uninervis dari pulau Barrang Caddi Kotamadya Makassar telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer serapan atom tanpa nyala. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi logam Cu lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi logam Zn dan Pb. Konsentrasi logam Cu, Pb, dan Zn pada setiap bagian morpologi lamun masing-masing adalah, 1,97 – 3,20; 0,01 – 0,13; 0,01 – 0,16 ppm. Konsentrasi Cu tertinggi pada batang (2,89 -3,20 ppm), dan pada daun 1,97 – 2,47 ppm. Konsentrasi logam Zn pada umumnya lebih rendah dibagian batang daripada pada akar dan daun. Sedangkan untuk konsentrasi logam Pb tertinggi pada bagian batang dibanding konsentrasi Pb pada akar dan daun.   Kata kunci : lamun, logam berat , analis

Abstract

An investigation of base promoted reaction of phenylanthranilate and isocyanate has been carried out. The reaction between a type of salicylic ester , phenyl salicylates and phenylanthranilate, and an isocyanate and isothocyanates  gave remarkable yields of corresponding 1,3-Benzoxazine-4-oxo-2-thiones and 1,3-Benzodiazine-2,4-diones and their analogs. A succesfull attempted on aplying this methods to the synthesis of 2,2-phenyl-1,3-benzoxazine-4-one, a potential chiral auxiliaries for an asymmetric synthesis, had been achieved in a very good yields.   Keywords : One-pot synthesis, heterocyclic compound

Abstract

Sesbania grandiflora L, member of Fabaceae family, currently known to have several pharmacological activities such as : anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic. Few investigations had been carried out to isolate the chemical active constituents of this plant. So far, several compounds like oleanolic methyl esters, cyanin, and flavonol glycosides were found as its major constituents. This investigation is aiming to qualitatively investigate the presence of steroid, one major important class of organic compound, in the root of S.grandiflora. Undergoes a series of qualitative testing, including Liebermann-Burchard and Carr-Price test, to the isolated crystal from the root of S.grandiflora following by an infrared spectroscopy observation, it was proven that a steroid is present in the samples. Abstract

The research about analysis of concentration of Pb and Zn in Anadara granosa at the territorial waters of Pare-Pare Harbor. The Pb and Zn content was analyzed by using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric Method. The result of analysis indicated that Pb concentration was 13,36 – 23,94 mg/kg in dried weight and Zn concentration was 53,78 – 67,88 mg/kg in dried weight, and the concentration of Pb and Zn was highest in Cappa’ Ujung Harbor. The value of Pb and Zn have exceeded the value float the boundary so that Anadara granosa have improper to be consumed by peoples.   Keywords :  Anadara granosa, Plumbum, Zinc, AAS

Abstract

Although the stalk and straw of paddy have been used as source of energy by various industries and rural people, the hull of paddy generally was still allowed to accumulate around the place of mill rice and it was not treated to be a source of energy. Therefore, the aim of this research is to study the effect of shape, density and clay concentration of the briquet made from paddy hull on the heat production. The briquet formation was made of paddy hull, clay, tapioca powder and water. The hole-shape briquet resulted in 729.2 kcal of heat, whereas the solid-shape briquet produced 672.3 kcal of heat. The briquet with a density of 884.2 kg/m3 produced higher amount of heat than briquet with a density of 796.2 kg/m3 did. The amount of heat created by the briquet with the clay concentration of 15 % was 792.3 kcal. This amount of heat was higher than amount of heat produced by the briquet with the clay concentration of 5 % and of 10 %. It was concluded that the briquet of paddy hull with the hole-shape. The density of 884.2 kg/m3 and the clay concentration of 15 % produced the optimum energy.   Keywords : shape, density, clay, briquet, hull, and heat
