Abstract

Teak wood (Tectona grandis Lf.) in the form of sawdust a byproduct/waste from the furniture industry has a considerable amount and has not been utilized optimally. This study aims to determine the content of extractive teak wood (Tectona grandis Lf.). The method used is the hot water solubility. Munas teak wood powder weighing 4,076 g soaked in distilled water as much as 100 ml glass flask, then heated in a water bath at a temperature of 100 oC for 3 hours. The content of extractive dissolved in a liquid further characterized using Py-GCMS. Results of the analysis of Py-GCMS to extract teak wood showed concentrations of some substances, such as Carbamic acid (70,70%), mono ammonium salt (CAS) Ammonium carbamate (70,70%), Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid (10,52%), Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid (2,35%), Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid (3,26%), and Phenol (CAS) Izal (13,17%)

Abstract

The experiment was carried out to observe the effect of adding lemuru fish oil in immunized laying hens diet on the health status of chicken through leucocyte profile, stress index, erythrocyte profile, and malonildehyde concentration in liver and spleen. The research design was completely randomized and the obtained data was analized with analysis of variance and continued with Tukey’s Post Hoc test for differences. The experiment used thirty 18 weeks hens ISA brown strain and were divided into five groups. The groups were: A (immunization with lipase and control diet); B (immunization with lipase, control diet + 1% lemuru fish oil); C (immunization with lipase, control diet + 2% lemuru fish oil); D (immunization with lipase, control diet + 3% lemuru fish oil); and E (unimmunized and control diet). The immunization was repeated three times with four weeks interval, blood was collected and analyzed two weeks after immunization and the malonyldehyde concentration in liver and spleen was measured two weeks after third immunization. The results showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) on all variables. The conclusion of this research that lemuru fish oil supplementation did not affect the health status of immunized hens

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to optimize the dose of GA3 and substitution chemicals that affect on floral and morphological traits of parental lines for hybrid rice seed production. The experiment was conducted at glass house on field station Sukamandi, Indonesian Center for Rice Research, during April-August 2010. The experimental material comprising both the parental lines of hybrid Hipa 7 i.e. IR58025A and IR40750 were treated with 10 treatments of different kind of GA3, chemicals, and one untreated check was grown in randomized block design with three replications. The results indicated that a liquid GA3 60 ppm, urea 2%, phosphate 1%, and glycine 40 ppm could influence some of the characters favoring outcrossing i.e stigma exertion, panicle exertion, anther and filament length. These chemical (urea 2%, phosphate 1%, and glycine 40 ppm) showed the possibility of the economizing cost of seed production and substitute of GA3

Abstract

Fertilization is an effort improving soil fertility to obtain optimal results. fertilization with the right amount and type can increase growth, productivity, and yield. The study aims to understand the response of growth, productivity, and yield of sugarcane crop (plant cane) against various packages fertilization. The activities carried out in KP. Asembagus, Situbondo began November 2012-October 2013. Seven package dose of fertilizer, namely: 1) 600 kg of new inorganic compound fertilizer + 100 kg ZA; 2) 900 kg of new inorganic compound fertilizer 900 kg + 150 kg ZA; 3) 1.200 kg of new inorganic compound fertilizer + 150 kg ZA; 4) 900 kg of new inorganic compound fertilizer + 3 tons of organic fertilizer A; 5) 900 kg of new inorganic compound fertilizer + 3 tons of organic fertilizer B; 6) 600 kg of old inorganic compound fertilizer type I + 300 kg ZA; 7) 600 kg old inorganic compound fertilizer type II + 500 kg ZA arranged in a randomized block design was repeated three times. The results showed that the fertilizer package 2, 3, and 7 generates growth and productivity tends to be higher, while the fertilizer package (except packet 5) produces yields tend to be higher. The fertilizer package 1, 2, and 3 resulted in the production of crystal tends to be higher.

Abstract

In addition to carbohydrates, rice contains other minerals that function to growth and development of vital human organs. On the other hand, the content is influenced by genetic and milling processes. Indonesian Centre of Rice Research (ICRR) has genetic collection resistant to strains of the brown plant hopper (BPH). Genotypes were studied to assemble the pest-resistant varieties with high iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) content. This study aims to determine the BPH-resistant lines that had high and stable Fe and or  Zn content. The study was conducted in XRF Laboratory, ICRR Sukamandi, West Java in 2015. Fe and Zn were determined by using XRF machine with a system of performance-based X-ray. Total 20 rice lines that resistant to BPH was used Fe and Zn content on brown and polished rice were evaluated duplo. The results showed that milling generally decreased the content of Fe and Zn at rate 56.31% and 20.54%, respectively. The highest Fe content was found in BP19564b-WBC-1-1-4-3 (12.25 ppm), while the highest Zn content in BP19564b-WBC-1-9-8-3 (26.35 ppm). Genotype BP19564b-WBC-1-9-4-2 and BP19564b-WBC-1-9-8-3 exhibited the lowest in reduction Fe and Zn content, respective, from brown to polished rice.

Abstract

Lithium tantalate silicate (LiTaSiO5) has successfully been made on Si (100) p-type and Si (111) n-type by chemical solution deposition (CSD) technique with temperatures variation of 600, 650, 700, 750, and 800 oC. Determined the film thickness as well as and test the optical properties with UV-Vis spectroscopy. The maximum absorbance of the substrates were 420 and 980 nm. The maximum band of films on Si (100) was 2.94 eV a temperature of 650 oC and Si (111) was 3.06 eV a temperature of 800 oC

Abstract

Indonesian native chickens consist of indigenous chickens and a chickens originated from abroad which adapted and grow in Indonesia. Based on 120 respondents who have been interviewed, there were seven types chicken commonly raised, namely: kampong, bangkok, arab, kate, pelung, gaga’, and birma. People commonly raised native chickens for religion, food, ornamental, and trading purposes. Six of those seven native chickens (86%) are reared for trading, five types (71%) for ornamental, and four types (57%) for egg and meat production purpose. Three types chicken (43%) were well-known had the benefits for eggs production. The religious category was the highest ICF value (1.00) followed by food (meat and eggs production) category with ICF value by 0.98. Arab chicken had the highest Fidelity Level (FL) value (70.96%) as egg and meat producer. Egg production of arab chicken reached 22.50 egg/period and it was the highest productivity of all experimental chickens. Average flock size per household was 11.31 with a population around 225 chickens/household. Kampong chicken was the most popular to be raised (79.16%) followed by bangkok (40.00%), kate (13.33%), gaga’ (10.00%), arab (8.33%), pelung (5.83%), and birma (3.33%). Abstract

The Banggai cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) is endemic to the Banggai Archipelago. The conservation status of Pterapogon kauderni in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is Endangered, Pterapogon kauderni is considered to be threatened with extinction due to excessive exploitation as well as threats to it’s habitat in shallow coastal waters of 0-5 m depth. The aim of this research was to evaluate this fisheries resource using ecosystem-based indicators and to formulate fisheries management measures using an ecosystem-based approach. The six domains used in this evaluation were the fisheries resource domain, habitat and ecosystem, fishing technology, social, economic, and institutional, using a specific set of indicators for each domain. The evaluation produced the following overall, mean, and highest indicator values and domain categories; 3.226.40, 2.33 and 4.204.12 for the fisheries resource domain, poor category; 4.020.80, 2.17, 5.282.36 for the habitat and ecosystem domain, average category; 4.000, 2.00, 6.000 for the fishing technology domain, average category; 6.685, 2.33, 8.505 for the social domain, category; 2.001.74, 1.50 and 3.005.17 for the economic domain, poor category; and 3.041.38, 2.17, 4.564.12 for the institutional domain, average category

Abstract

Payment for environmental services (PES) to mangrove forest is judged appropriate for applied in Jailolo Sub-district of West Halmahera District as a protection of mangrove ecosystems. This is due to the high utilization of mangrove environment services. If not managed properly can potentially threaten the preservation of mangrove forests. Benefits that have been perceived by the public such as a water source, pond, travel, as well as the protection of coastal areas. These benefits must be preserved for the future availability of environmental services namely through the payment of the services already provided the commonly named as payment for environmental services (PES). PES is also very supported by West Halmahera District Regulation No. 4 of 2012 year and constitution No. 32 of 2009 year about the protection and environmental management. Basically, PES is a scheme that aims to restore and protect the availability of goods and environmental services sustainable. Therefore, PES initiation for mangrove forest economy preservation in Jailolo Sub-district needs to be studied. This research aims to: 1) Identify environmental services of mangrove forest ecosystems that are potential for PES; 2) Examines the perceptions of the public service providers (providers) towards the implementation of the plan; and 3) How much willingness to accept (WTA) community as a providers of environmental services (providers) if PES is applied. The research results showed that the service potentially initiated PES are sea-water intrusion regulating service and the cultural service of mangrove tourism. For perception and public participation, environmental service providers about the mangrove environment services were judged to be sufficient for determining PES plan assignment, where communities want to participate if the maintenance costs were IDR3.350,00/trees/year

Abstract

A study was carried out to assess the present status of blue swimmer crab (Portunus pelagicus) in Lancang Island, incorporating identification of fishing ground, also measurement of environmental condition and crab biometry. Monthly catch assessment was performed on JuneSeptember 2015 at three landing bases using structured questionnaire and morphometric sampling of minimum randomly selected 30 crabs. Bathymetric survey was conducted to produce depth-contoured maps combined with certain oceanographic parameters (sea surface temperature, salinity, water clarity, total suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, and nitrate-NO3) measured at 15 sampling sites. A grid map was produced to identify key areas of crab fishing grounds, recruitment habitat, and spawning habitats. During southeast monsoon, main fishing ground was distributed in the western and southern part of Lancang Island (grid C3, C4, and D5). In general, crab yields were dominated by female (66.9%) and 43.8% of them were bearing eggs. Four size classes were determined from frequency distribution of carapace width (Class 1 = 7.0-10.6 cm; Class 2 = 10.7-14.2 cm; Class 3 = 14.3-17.8 cm; and Class 4 = 17.9-21.5 cm), with Class 2 as the most prominent catch. Referring to ontogenetic migration trait of the species, presumed recruitment habitat for blue swimmer crab in Lancang Island is located at A6, where abundant juveniles were harvested in the area with strong oceanic influence and depth range of 24-30 m. Spatial coherence on the distribution of bearing egg female with several environmental parameters (sea surface temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen) indicates strong estuarine influence is required for crab spawning habitat at C3 and
