Abstract

Degradation in production forest in lampung Province was high. Wood crop was cut and changed with agriculture crop and also the settlement. Cultivation of wood in land that own by society with private forest (hutan rakyat) pattern in Kresnowidodo Village become one of solution for rare of this wood. According to that, need to know how behavior socialize in management and wood exploiting from private forest in Kresnowidodo Village in order to overcoming the rare of wood and development of private forestspecially in lampung Province. location have been selected in purposive method with consideration that Kresnowidodo Village have 227 ha private forest. Farmer population that have private forest are 315 family. According to Slofin method obtained 39 family as sample. The method used descriptive qualitative analysis. Community behavior in management and exploiting of private forest analysed from three aspect that are produce aspect, processing aspect and marketingaspect. The result obtained that wood production in private forest still be conducted traditionally. Farmers did not conducted management intensively yet since assuming private forest land still be fertile enough to support growth of wood crop. The exploitation of private forest still as peripheral income and used as saving or reserve of farmer income. The existance of wood industry in Kresnowidodo Village become one of farmer motivation to develop private forest. Certainty in wood production from private forest supported with efficient wood market in the village perhaps have supported for development and continuation of private forest in Kresnowidodo Village.Keyword : Production, processing, marketing, private forest.

Abstract

Soil physical properties can affect to seed germination and plant growth. Soil compaction will degrade soil physical properties which in term will affect to root penetration and development in the soil. The improvements of soil physical properties is required to ensure seed germination and plant growth such treatment to maintain soil bulk density is quite low. The purpose of this research is to study the influence of soil compaction (soil bulk density) to soil physical characteristics and seed germination of peanuts and soybean.This research used Jasinga Podsolik Soil, conducted at Soil Physical Laboratory, Department of Soil Science and Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture IPB, and Greenhouse of Center of Biological Resources and Biotechnology, Research and Community Services Agency, IPB(March-November 2009). Completed random design was used as experimental design and Duncans Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to identify the effect of treatment. The bulk density results of the research showed that the increasing of soil bulk density (soil compaction) had significantly affect on pF curves, permeability rate, and soil resistance before or after planting. For peanut, soil compaction significantly affect to plant height and root length. Soil compaction did not significantly affect on stem diameter, number of leaves, canopy or root biomass. For soybean, the influence of soil compaction had significantly affect just only on plant height. Stem diameter, number of leaves, root length or root and canopy biomasses were not affected by soil compaction.Keywords : Peanut, seed germination, soil bulk density, soil bulk density, soybean.

Abstract

Snake fruit is an exotic fruit from Indonesia, and nowadays has increasing in demand. There is opportunity to market minimally processed snake fruit, but this product becomes very highly perishable because of increasing in respiration rate. The objective of this research was to determine edible coating formulation in combination with modified atmosphere packaging, in order to maintain quality and to prolong shelflife of minimally processed snakefruit. The research was started by preparation of salak fruit, edible coating, measurement of respiration rate, determination of optimum atmosphere composition and critical parameter, and storage in modified atmosphere packaging. First, best atmosphere composition for minimally prcessed snakefruit was determined, then storage of minimally processed snakefruit was conducted after selection of the appropriate plastic film. Analysis was conducted on quality and organoleptic characteristics. Optimum gas composition storage for minimally processed snake fruit is 4±1%0[2] and 14±2% C0[2]. Minimally processed snake fruit with edible coatings made from pectin and chitozan combined with modified atmosphere packaging can extend shelflife and maintained quality until eight days, while without edible coating the minimally-processed snake fruit in with modified atmosphere packaging can extend until 6 days only.Keywords : Snake fruit, edible coating, modified atmosphere packaging, shelf life.

Abstract

In the last five years, several earthquakes struck several places in Indonesia and thousands of people died caused of their masonry house. Therefore, the idea of bamboo utilization in the form of structural sandwich panel components for anti-seismic pre-fabrication house is one of appropriate way out. This research describes the performance and behavior of engineered structure wooden-bamboo sandwich panel in full sized test. The wall frame being use were meranti wood, this frame attached by plywood as face and back, then 5 em bamboo cutting as core; the fastener used in this study were isocyanate resin and nails. This study carried out by experimental data of full scale structural tests on shear wall (ISO 22452). These result showed that the seismic reliability of the wall frame system made of bamboo sandwich panel was appropriate and will be useful for prefabrication houses as anti-seismic and environment friendly residential building.Keywords : Bamboo sandwich panel, shear wall test, pre-fabrication house.

Abstract

Testicular cell transplantation technology can be used in fish seed production engineering. In this study, optimization of transplantation using donor cells from young gouramy and triploid tilapia (3N) as recipient. Triploid tilapia is produced using heat shock method. The testes of male gouramy (body weight of 400- 850 g) was dissociated using 0.5% trypsin. Dissociated testicular cells was injected into the peritoneal cavity of tilapia larvae. Analysis of donor cell colonization was carried out using PCR method with DNA template that had been extracted from the gonad of 2-month-old tilapia. PCR was performed using specific primers for the growthhormone gene and (3-actin as an internal control of DNA loading. The results of nucleoli preparation showed thatthe success of triploidyzation was 88.5%. The gonad size of diploid (2N) and 3N recipient were relatively similar, while in not transplanted 3N tilapia was rudimentary. PCR results showed that the transplanted 3N tilapia has a DNA band of the same size with gouramy, while in control was not. This indicated that donor cells have been colonized in the gonads of recipient. The donor cell colonization in recipient 3N (78%) was higher than that of 2N (50%). Further research is required to determine the ability of donor cells differentiate into sperm and eggs in recipient gonad.Keywords : Spermatogonia, cell transplantation, triploid, giant gouramy.

Abstract

Indonesias commitment to be involved in the scheme of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to bring a multiplier effect for the Indonesian economy, including sectoral, regional, and household distributional impact. The study was conducted using recursive dynamic Computable General Equilibrium Model (CGE) with further extension on top-down regional features. In the short term, the impact of the FTA has not seemed to significantly increase the national and regional GOP of each province. Trade liberalization scheme could potentially reduce the real income of households, the largest decline in low-income households in rural areas. Increased household income disparities need to be accounted with a serious community empowerment program to avoid social and economic conflicts. Increased competitiveness on regional and sectoral level is necessary. Improvement on market access is mandatory for several advantageous commodities. By increasing competitiveness, quality of infrastructures, and access to export markets, the export performance can beimproved. From the internal side, an efficient supply chain management is also crucial to meet the desires of consumers with quality, time, price and the right amount.Keywords : Free Trade Agreement(FTA), Computable General Equilibrium (CGE), Regional Economics.

Abstract

The research was conducted to examine the seedling of mangium (Acacia mangium and sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) on compacted soil. Soil was compacted with a proctor test at the different level of bulk density (0.9;1.0; 1.1; 1.2; 1.3 g/cm3 ) with 10 replications. The compacted soil was put into the plastic pot. After 6 month growth in pot the seedling growth response was measured.The result showed that the root penetration and seedling height linearly decrease with the increase of bulk density. The root of seedling of mangium (Acacia mangium and sengon (Paraserianthes fa/cataria) could not penetrate deeply at the hardest soil (1.3 g/cm3 ). Roots needs space to grow. The space was occupied by soil particles and soil pores. Root may influence chemical and physical properties of soil. In related to the compacted soil the root penetration is theimportant variable which is affected by the soil hardness. Under the condition of decrease penetration, seedlingcan not grew well in lack of nutrient to be absorbed by the root. On the other hand the bulk density 1.3 g/cm3 showed difference for seedling height response. However, the growth response was significantly reduced at the level of 1.3 g/cm3. The bulk density 1,3 g/cm3 was the critical limit of soil hardness for the seedling of Mangium and Sengon growth.Keywords : Soil compaction, root penetration,seedling height, acacia mangium, paraserianthes fa/cataria.

Abstract

This research was conducted to study hematological condition (total erythrocyte, concentration of haemoglobin, and packed cell valome value) sheep during transportation with combination of multivitamin-meniran. Twelve Priangan sheep were divided of into 3 groups i.e, sheep with transportation stress (control), transportation stress and multivitamin (Treatment B). The sheep were given stress transportation for 12 hours within 250 km around Bogor district. Blood samples were taken at 0 hour (pre transportation), 4h, 8h, 12h (during transportation) and 24h, 48h, 72h (post transportation) to observe total erythrocyte, concentration of haemoglobin increased and researched the peak at 8 hours although the range is still in normal condition. Packed cell volume of sheep under stress did not change. It was concluded that the combination of multivitamin-meniran was effective in maintaining haematological condition during sheep transportation.
