Abstract

Information on the pattern of fruit drop of mango is required to determine the appropriate method and time in reducing fruit drop. By this methodf, fruit retention or number of harvested fruit of mango can be increased.The aim of this research was to determine the pattern of fruit drop of Gadung 21, Manalagi 69 and Golek 3 I . The results of this researchs howedt hat the pattern of fruit drop of Gadung2 1, Golek 31 and Manalagi 69 was similar. All cultivars I showed that there was one peak (the highest number of fruit drop) in fruit drop. It occurred at 6 days after anthesis (DAA). After 24 DAA, the number offruit drop was constant, namely near to zero. It occurred until harvest.Key words: Mango, Fruit drop, Fruit set

Abstract

Some of rhizobacteria have been known to stimulate the growth of some crops through their fitohormon (IAA = indole acetic acid). Those rhizobacteria can stimulate the development of epidermis cells formation at root hair  site and increase the infection sites to increase the nodulation and N2 fixation. The aims of this study were to study the effect of Rhizobium strains inoculation and indole acetic acid (IAA) application on crop growth, root nodulation. and N, P uptake of soybean on the Ultisols. The greenhouse experiment used Completely Randomize Design (CRD) with four replications. The treatments were: I) Without inoculation (blank), 2) 100 ppm N application, 3) 0.4 ppm IAA application, 4) Inoculation of Rhizobium 1004 (106), 5) Inoculation of Rhizobium 1004 (I05) + IAA, 6) Inoculation of  Rhizobium RD-20 (104), 7) Inoculation of Rhizobium RD-20 (106), 8) Inoculation of Rhizobium SNI-2 (106). 9) Inoculation of Rhizobium SNI-2 106 + IAA. Result of the experiment indicated that inoculation of Rhizobium and IAA application increased crop growth, nodulation, and nutrient uptake of soybean. Inoculation of Rhizobium I004(106). RD-20(104)R, D-20(I06),S NI-2(I06), and IAA 0.4 ppm increased dry weight of crop by 33.5%,37.8,17.3%,35.1%,and 3.8% respectively compared to blank. Application of IAA at Rhizobium inoculation treatment of SNI-2(106) and 1004(106i)n creased dry nodule weight on soybean 40.9%, and 55.7 % respectively compared to without IAA application.

Abstract

Dioscorea was a member of Dioscoreaceae, ordo of liliales and class of Monocotyledoneae, Two types of Dioscorea were annual and perennial. As much as 50-60 species of 600 species was cultivated as food source. This research was conducted to study tuber characters and nutrition content of Dioscorea sp. Plant material was Dioscorea collection from some places in Indonesia. Five accessions of Dioscorea alata. Dioscorea esculenta and Dioscorea hispida. were analyzed for the content of fat, protein and starch. Tube characters observed were tuber number, tuber weight, length and diameter. There were significant differences of tube character, protein and starch content between Dioscorea accession. The highest tuber weight and starch content were resulted by D.alata especially accession number 49. The highest protein content was resulted by accession number 67 of D. esculenta. Positive correlation between tuber diameter and tuber weight of D. alata showed that higher accumulation of fotosynthate was followed by increasing tuber diameter. In other words, sink capacity was determined by tuber diameter. Key words: Tuber, Dioscorea spp., Nutrition content

Abstract

High soil acidity is one of the problems caused low soybean productivity on acid sulphate soil. Using tolerant variety is one effort for increasing soybean productivity on acid sulphates oil. The objective of these researches were to understand the performance yield and tolerancy of soybean genotypes to acid sulphate soil. These researches were conducted on acid sulphate soil at Pindahan Baru. Jajangkit Timur and Talaran-Barito Kuala District of South Kalimantan in wet season of  2003/04. These researches were arranged in Randomized Completely Design with three replications. Five genotypes and 4 varieties were evaluated for their tolerance and yield potential. The result showed that none of the genotypes have yield higher than that of check varieties Lawit, Menyapa and Sibayak. There was one of genotypes i.e. Msc 9234-D-3 give higher yield than check varieties Tanggamus, good seed quality and tolerant to acid sulphate soil.   Key words: Performance, Soybean, Acid sulphates oil

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to study the growth performance of pummelo cv. Cikoneng grafted on several interstocks. Four interstock cultivars i.e. Flying Dragon (Poncirus trifoliata Var. Monstrosa), Troyer (Poncirus trifoliata x Citrus sinensis), Citrumelo (Citrus paradisi x Poncirus trifoliata) and Rangpur Lime (Citrus limonia Os beck x Troyer Citrange) weres ubjectedt o this experiment.A ll interstocksw ereg rafted on JapanscheC itroen rootstock.The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design. All seedlings grew normal, no incompatibility symptom between scion and interstocks was observed. Rangpur Lime interstock tended to retard scion growth, inversely, Citrumelo interstock was the most promoted scion growth. Flying Dragon and Troyer had intermediate characteristic, their effect on scion growth was between Rangpur Lime andCitrumelo. Key words: Pummelo, Cikoneng, lnterstock

Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine anther culture ability of 7 rice accessions in an improved media supplemented with spermine. The seven accessions were Hawara Bunar, Grogol, Sigundil. Krowal. CT-650-24-J-3. Lembayau, dan Mendali. Media N6 was used for callus induction and MS was used for regeneration. Both media was supplemented with spermine at J0 -4M . Result of the experiment showed that Grogol. Sigundil. and Lembayau gave green plantlet. Sigundil and Mendali possessed highest anther culture ability and therefore best suited for parent in rice breeding involving anther culture technique.   Key words: Anther culture, Spermine, Upland rice, Green plant

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the application of strangulation, packlobutrazol and ethephon to stimulate flowering of mangosteen trees. The experiment was conducted from June 2002 to September2 003, located at Farmer´s Mangosteen Orchards, Leuwiliang, Bogor. A randomized block design with two factors was used in thisexperiment. The first factor was treatments to stimulate flowering consisted of three levels i.e strangulation (8), (S) application of paclobubtrazol (P) and control (K). The second factor was treatments for dormancy breaking consisted of two levels i.e without ethephon (Eo) and with ethephon (EiJ. Each treatment was replicated four times. The resultshowed that strangulation and application of paclobutrazol were effective in stimulating flowering of mangosteen trees. Those treatments decreased gibberellic acid content and increased total sugar and C: N ratio. Interaction effect was found between treatments to stimulate flowering and ethephon on number of flowers, number of fruits and weight of fruits per tree. The highest fruits weight (2.,50 kg/tree) was obtained on the combination of paclobutrazol with ethephon while the lowest was in control without ethephon( 6.05 kg/tree).Key words: Mangosteen, Strangulation, Paclobutrazol, Ethephon, Flowering;
