Jurnal Agronomi Indonesia merupakan media untuk publikasi tulisan asli yang berkaitan dengan budidaya tanaman secara luas, dalam Bahasa Indonesia maupun Bahasa Inggris. Naskah dapat berupa: hasil-hasil penelitian mutakhir (paling lama 5 tahun yang lalu), ulasan (review)singkat, analisis kebijakan atau catatan penelitian (research note) singkat mengenai teknik percobaan, alat, pengamatan, hasil awal percobaan (preliminary result).

Abstract

One hundred eighty two AFLP marker using primer combination of EcoRI/MseI and PstI/MseI were used in this study to create a DNA marker genetic map of Sugar beet. In average each primer combination yielded 15.5 polymorphic band AFLP marker using primer combination of EcoRI/MseI significant yielded more polymorphic band  than PstI/MseI. From this study a high density DNA marker map coverage all nine chromosomes of sugar beet with  totally length of 744 cM Haldane was established. Abstract

Human effort on improving agricultural crops has been expanding very rapidly, and recently by using gene transformation technology it was possible to introduce genes from biologically unrelated organisms into plant genomes. Gene transformation technology, known as transgenic technology, has been successfully introduced gene encoding insecticidal compound from bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis into several crops, for example. Abstract

Productivity of land in Java insel decreased. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize marginal Fe toxic land in order to increase production of rice. One of the hinderness is the lack of rice variety which is tolerant to this condition. The rice research institute and Balitbio in Bogor have the collection of rice varieties which can be used in breeding program. The program obtained a rice variety that is adaptive to Fe toxic land. Abstract

F1 Hybrids, backcross progenies, advanced introgression lines (2n=24) and monosomic alien addition lines or MAALs (2n=25) were successfully produced following embryo rescue between an elite new plant type (NPT) breeding line of Oryza sativa (2n=24, AA) and a wild species, O. minuta (2n=48, BBCC). F1 hybrids performance were intermediate between the parents. The F1 hybrids had 36 chromosomes indicating having 12 chromosome A from O. sativa and 12 B and 12 C from O. minuta. THE BACK CROSS progenies had different chromosome number indicating abnormal meiosis of the hybrids and back cross progenies. Plant with 2n=24 and 25 chromosomes were obtained in BC4FI. The hybrids and backcross progenies were susceptible to bacterial leaf blight (BB). However, several of the 2n=24 plants derived resistant plant to bacterial leaf blight race 1 of the Philippines races. Abstract

The Objectives of rice breeding program in Indonesia is to obtain high yielding varieties, tolerant, resistant to abiotic and biotic stress and appropriate to planting system in specific area. To accelerate the obtainment of the varieties, a combination of conventional and no conventional breeding method can be used. One alternative procedure is anther culture. Doubled haploid lines can be obtained through cholchicine treatment or rattooning of haploid plants. Plants with high heterozygositas (F1 or F2) can be used as anther source to obtain genetic variability of doubled haploid plants. High degree of homozigousity can be obtained at the first (DHO) generation of doubled haploid plants, less than on year. Evaluation of agronomic characters follows m DHI and DH2 generations. Compared to conventional methods, the use of anther culture in rice breeding program has several advantages including efficiency of selection process, reduction of cost, time and labor. Effort to optimize anther culture method and its rize in rice breeding program in Indonesia is discussed. Key words: Anther culture, Rice
