Abstract

The problem in this study is whether the use and application of concrete media can iprove students' skills in integer operations in class V of Muarakuang 04 Elementary School? The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes about integer operations through concrete media. Of the 24 students, there were 17 students who successfully achieved the KKM score. In addition, there are 7 students who have not yet reached KKM. This means that the completeness achieved in Cycle I is 71%. In cycle II, the researcher made a decision to complete the research action and did not need to continue the research at the Cycle III stage due to the fulfillment of 86% KKM. The conclusion of the results of this study is that the application of concrete media can improve learning outcomes about integer operations in Class V students of SDN 4 Muara Kuang

Abstract

The research subjects were grade V students of SD Negeri 13 Muara Kuang, totaling 17 students. Methods of data collection in the form of tests, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The indicators of the success of the action are marked by 75% of the number of students who take part in the learning process that have obtained KKM scores. Based on the results of the tests in the implementation of learning with a scramble model, students who achieved a value of ≥75 were 70.59% in the first cycle and increased to 88.24% in the second cycle. The action was dismissed in the second cycle because it had reached the criteria of success.

Abstract

A B S T R A C T This research is a CAR designed to improve speed reading skills with skimming techniques of second semester students in Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program FKIP UTP. The research design uses the Kemmis and Taggart models which consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data collection technique of this research is in the form of observation and interviews. The level of success of this study is the reading speed of students reached 350 kpm with the percentage of reading comprehension of 70%. Based on the results, the average speed of student reading on pre-cycle is 153 kpm, in cycle I is 258 kpm, and in cycle II is 351 kpm. Furthermore, for the pre-cycle reading comprehension level is 37%, in the first cycle is 64%, and in the second cycle is 73%. Besides that, it was proven that positive changes occurred based on observations and interviews.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there was any significant difference on reading comprehension of analytical exposition that were taught by using Peer Assisted Learning strategy (PALS) and those who were not, and to find out whether or not it was effective to use PALS on reading comprehension. This study used quasi experimental method. 78 students was taken as sample, consists of 39 students XI IPS 3 as experimental group and XI IPS 4 as control group. Test was used in collecting data as pretest and posttest. To verify the hypothesis, the result of independent sample t-test found that t-obtained (11.077) was higher than t-table (1.9917) with df(=76), and the significance 2-tailed was 0.000. It means that there was any significant difference on reading comprehension that were taught by using PALS and those who were not, and also it was effective to use PALS.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of language in students' biographical texts. The problem in this research is how the form of grammatical interference in Indonesian language in the biographical text of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang  and what factors are the causes of the grammatical interference of Indonesian in the biography of students. The results of this study indicate that the form of Indonesian grammatical interference in the biographical text of students in the level of morphology includes affixation, reduplication, and composition. In affixation, there is a form of interference with one word prefix, prefix 4 words, 1 word prefix, suffix + suffix 1 word, confix 4 words, confirm + suffix 1 word , confixing 1 word, confirming 1 word, clophyte 1 word, and clophyte in one word, while the reduplication and composition process is not found in the biographical text of the student. Factors that cause the occurrence of grammatical interference are the participant's bilingualism, the thinness of the recipient's language loyalty, and the practice of habits in the mother language.
